Description

Welcome to Road Rider - Chiang Mai, the place to find everything the roadie needs to know about cycling on the roads of Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, and beyond, even if you ride a mountain bike:

Meet other riders
Where to ride
Road conditions
Where to buy or sell equipment

Have a question? Someone here will have the answer!

We offer a variety of challenging rides leaving from Dunkin Donuts (Huay Kaew Road and Canal Road junction) four or five days a week heading north, south and west. Sometimes, flat, sometimes hilly, sometimes mountainous, and sometimes the amount of climbing is just plain stupid. But we always have fun. The ride start times are determined by the weather and the distance, but are usually at 8:00am. Wednesday morning's ride is usually the climb up Doi Suthep and we leave at 6:45am. There is often a Wednesday afternoon session on the velodrome too.

There is a more mellow ride that leaves from the All Seasons Hotel (the NW corner of Canal and Huay Kaew Roads, across from Dunkin Donuts). Also 4 or 5 days a week, these rides are usually pretty flat and average about 25-27 km/h for a 2 - 2 1/2 hour ride, occasionally longer.

All rides are posted to the group, but we'd love more rides and more variety. If you would like more info, contact Jeff at JeffVgl@yahoo.com or just click below to join the e-group!
