Hell Joe I believe that I will be hard pressed to ever miss again even if I
have to get a nurse to wheel me out on a gurney. So from here on I will be
there too...... unless I can't make it for some reason or another, but in

9:15 am Saturday morning--
         I arrived at the field joyous for the cool weather and the light
sprinkle that would surely make for a funfilled morning of ultimat frisbee.
I exited my vehicle and began to stretch and toss my 175g disk into the
crispy air filled with anticipation for the arrival of my fellow players.

9:30 am
     Warmed up and ready to go I still wait disk in hand.  The windbreaker I
am wearing is soaked through now and sticking to my skin.  It no longer
offers protection from the mixture of hydrogen and oxygen coming down from
the sky above.  My feelings of anticipation are slowing turning into feelings
of sadness and depression.  Will there be a game today?

9:40 am
     Maybe I'm at the wrong field.  I quickly jump into my vehicle and drive
over to auditorium shores.  No ultimate players in sight.
sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

9:45 am
     I am again happy for the light sprinkle of rain but not for the same
reason.  Now I am happy for the rain because it hides the trickle of tears
streaming down my face.  I am transported back to the time in the third grade
when I had a birthday party and only one kid showed up.  But this is worse,
nobody showed up for the party today.  My self esteem sinks to an all time
low.  The feelings of rejection weigh on me like the weight of the world on
Atlas' shoulders.  I can barely drag myself back to my vehicle.  I have given
up hope of there being any disc action today.

9:55 am
     On the drive home my feelings on rejection and depression turn into
feelings of resentment and anger.  I hate every single one of you SOB's and
it will be a cold day in hell before I ever wake up early to play with you
again.  Don't even bother asking me about a scrimmage or tournament play, I'm
not interested.  You can huck and dive without me.

10:15
     I calm down a little and realize that I can't give up ultimate, its part
of me.  I cannot escape it's grasp.  I am destined to play for the rest of my
days.  Just not this  Saturday.  See ya'll next week.

OK, OK ,I can take a hint.  Well like it our not I'll be there all day
Sunday.  I hope you guys can play well enough on Saturday to get us in a
winners bracket.  Don't worry about saving anything for Sunday because I'll
be there to pick up the slack for those of you who are too wore out from
saturdays' games.  (pretty cocky for a guy that's only played 3 or 4 games

For occasional attendees of the pick-up game at Murchison school Sunday
afternoons, apparently the real start time has shifted to approx. 6 pm. (This
is one time that being "not so hot" should pay off.)
     The evite for this Sat.'s game MAY misbehave and send you two evites. I
think I avoided that possibility, but an oddity of the program and a
less-than-symbiotic inferface with my brain seems to make double invitations
a risk sporadically. If the 2nd evite does show up, ignore it. Use the first
one (already sent) as the official one.

To the Enlightened 10 (subscribers to egroup):
   1) Since I won't be involved with the Sat. game probably, someone
else should handle the egroup invite/poll for it. Needs to be done
early Thur. so that accidentally competing announcements don't occur.
    2) Is the "real" Riverside field in good shape again?
    3) I've gotten only one negative response about the whole
egroup/evite thing. And I think he'll come around once he sees how it
works.
    But at some point, we'll need to decide whether to axe the egroup
idea if we don't get a majority of folks (only about 40 left to sign
up).
    Bill, I think you can just sign people up without their permission
(and then they can opt out). That might be the way to do this?
    You Riverside oldtimers can better gauge such issues than I can.

     Congrats to Marshall's wife for all her degrees. AND she was smart enough
to marry him.
     Also, our own sunglassed-speedster, Chris, just got his PhD (stands for
"proficiently handles disc", no doubt. Do you pronounce it "Fud"? Great
nickname --- for someone besides me, of course --- I have a handball,
allegedly journalism, degress from Sandstorm U., sometimes known as Texas
Tech ). But I digress, and in public, too. Chris says his degree is
educational psychology, but that's probably just a ploy so he can meet Austin
qualifications for some hamburger-shovelling job.
     Anyone else graduate, escape, get paroled, etc?

      Great idea to use egroups' poll instead of evite.com. But for this week
we have comments coming via regular email (to the group and to Art), to
evite.com, and maybe to the egroup poll. Let's go with only the egroups

To Bill T: I've tried a bunch of online calendar/notifiers and Onelist (which
just merged with egroups) had one that didn't perform well, at least several
months ago. I don't remember trying egroups' calendar. They might be worth a
try now.
