Bristol, PA—Ring Of Honor continues its inexorable climb to the upper strata of in-ring sport combat with the announcement of two shows in Dover, New Jersey on Friday, March 14 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. at The Baker Theater, 41 West Blackwell Street.
Actor Mickey Roarke will be in the house both nights filming the climactic scene to his next feature film, The Wrestler, as directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream).
On Friday the 14th, Jay and Mark Briscoe will take on Joey Matthews and Tyler Black in a grudge match. There will also be two qualifying matches for the March 16 “Four-Corner Survival” bout to be held in Philadelphia. In the first, Delirious will have his hands full with The Necro Butcher. In the second bout, Brent Albright will have to face Japanese superstar Go Shiozaki.
On Saturday the 15th, beware The Ides Of March! Bryan “The American Dragon” Danielson teams up with Austin Aries to go against Nigel McGuinness and Go Shiozaki. Jay and Mark Briscoe take on the team of Brent Albright and BJ Whitmer. The final two qualifying matches for “Four-Corner Survival” are Claudio Castagnoli against Davey Richards and Tyler Black against Erick Stevens.
Many other wrestlers are being inked for this spectacular weekend, including Larry Sweeney and the lovable Lacey. Expect some surprises.

G-FUNK ANNOUNCES MARCH 7 PREMIERE OF RING OF HONOR’S “RISING ABOVE”

Internationally Acclaimed Federation Ring Of Honor To Broadcast State-Of-The-Art Pro Wrestling Show On Fifth Pay-Per-View Event Via Dish Network, iN DEMAND & TVN

Weston, CT—Ken Gelman of G-Funk Sports & Entertainment is proud to announce the Pay-Per-View and Video-On-Demand broadcast of “Rising Above.” This action event will debut on Friday, March 7, 2008, via Dish Network, iN DEMAND and TVN (price: $9.99 to $14.99 depending upon the provider). The internationally-acclaimed Ring Of Honor (www.ringofhonor.com) has also brought you “Respect Is Earned,” “Driven,” “Man Up!” and “Undeniable.” “Undeniable” came complete with music by the Grammy Award-winning American Alternative Rock band Smashing Pumpkins, who gave permission for ROH to produce an exclusive “Doomsday Clock.” (Billy Corgan, the band’s singer/songwriter/guitarist, is a major ROH fan.) A free 10-minute preview of “Rising Above” can be experienced at www.ROHvideos.com hosted by Daizee Haze.
Since the advent of its revered product, ROH has been inundated with rave reviews across-the-board. Wrestling Observer Newsletter called “Man Up!,” “from a wrestling standpoint, up there with the best PPVs of all-time. Seriously.” Now, ROH ups the ante on its celebrated brand of Combat Art which utilizes elements of wrestling, mixed-martial arts and aggression like you’ve never seen before to create its own niche in this depressed era of silly WWE storylines that turn off real wrestling fans and disenfranchised former fans.
“Rising Above” is headlined by an ROH World Championship title match between the champion, Great Britain’s Nigel McGuinness, and the #1 Challenger Austin Aries. This extreme bout will rival the Match-Of-The-Year bout from “Driven,” when McGuinness took on Bryan Danielson. Also on the line is a two-out-of-three fall World Champion Tag Team title match between Champions Jay and Mark Briscoe against the formidable team of Roderick Strong and Rocky Romero. The Briscoes are widely regarded as the #1 Tag Team in all of Pro Wrestling and have become known for putting away all opponents in two straight falls! Claudio Castagnoli faces his former tag team partner Chris Hero in a grudge match. Bryan “The American Dragon” Danielson, known as the best pure wrestler in the world today, puts his reputation on the line against the Japanese man-mountain Takeshi Morishima. There will also be an outrageous women’s bout between Daizee Haze, Sara Del Ray and Lacey.
“With the broadcast debut of this particular pay-per-view event,” says ROH owner Cary Silkin, “I have no doubt in my mind that—as the pundits and critics have been saying for over a year now—Ring Of Honor has, indeed, risen above the competition in a stark and dramatic way. There simply is no one out there today—and that includes the majors—who are giving the fans the kind of real wrestling that doesn’t insult their intelligence. From the disenfranchised older fan who’s almost given up on this sport to the young action fan who demands a product that doesn’t ever let up in intensity, Ring Of Honor is obviously `Rising Above.’”

Two-time former WWE Hardcore Champion Pete Gas, Sam Roberts from The Opie & Anthony Show and former New Rochelle & White Plains High School Athletic Director Mario Scarano have officaly been announced as the special guest judges for the "Boxer vs. Wrestler Match" pitting wrestler "Sweet 'n' Sour" Larry Sweeney vs. boxer Larry Barnes (44-3-0, 17 Knockout's) at the New York State Wrestling Federation's Pro Wrestling event on Saturday, April 5 in New Rochelle, NY at New Rochelle High School.

Also appearing on April 5 in New Rochelle, NY: TNA Superstars Team 3D (Brother Ray & New Rochelle's own Brother Devon vs. the Heavy Hitters (Monsta Mack & Havok); Romeo Roselli vs. Antonio Thomas; Ladies Match wth Special Guest Referee: former New Rochelle City Councilman Joe Fosina; Plus more exciting matches.

"When Larry Meets Larry"
The New York State Wrestling Federation is proud to have signed a “Boxer Versus Wrestler Match” pitting pro wrestler “Sweet ‘n’ Sour” Larry Sweeney vs. former world boxing contender Larry Barnes (44-3-0, 17 knockouts) for their April 5th pro-wrestling event at New Rochelle High School in New Rochelle, NY.
For both men named Larry, November 18th is a date that still haunts both men to this day.  Barnes’ last major fight was in a fourth round loss to Felix Trinidad on November 18, 1995.  Ironically, that  same day in 2007 was a just as unpleasant for Sweeney, who lost his prestigious I.C.W./I.C.W.A Texarkana Television Championship to Bryan Alvarez.
On April 5th, One Larry will win, but will it be the boxer or the wrestler?  Further details on this historic match will be announced in the coming weeks.
