Reds shortstop Barry Larkin was placed on the 15-day disabled list
Monday with a strained left calf. He
was injured while legging out a triple last Thursday against the
Astros. This is Larkin's fourth trip to the
disabled list in the last four years. Juan Castro was recalled from
Triple-A Louisville to take his place
on the roster.

The tradition continues. Every year Punxsutawney Phil looks for his
shadow in February, the swallows
return to Capistrano in March, and Barry Larkin goes on the DL sometime
after April 1. Felipe Lopez will
see the bulk of the playing time at short in Larkin's absence. Castro
will serve as an extra infielder.
