 Welcome back....Have met with Shanghai Daily about a " SISU Expat and Cycling  story . It will be published in mid April..

 I asked about a 'bi-weekly piece on cycliing ...'they said '''its possible ..

Sooooooooo...after your activity ...get me some small story and 'results...names , times and 'standings for those 'who partake. ...and photos ...I will forward to SD with our activities and events ..

 Discussions with SISU and the 'activities team have evolved to " lets see what happens with your efforts....

There is still concern ....about safety and operations....and basic 'methodology .

We 'hope U great success ...and "i will try to help U as I 'promised { I never break a promise } .

At this time - SISU and its affiliates , associates & supoporters will 'pass on the Pudong  Metric 100 'project ....

Hope to see U after the Spring cycling season ...I am sure U will have 'better understanding of cycling in China....

Sorry for no communication for awhile but was vacationing in a country with no internet service where I was.   Thought I'd find an internet cafe, but not to be.

 

Randonneurs of China offers on April 14th:

 

200K Historic Sanctioned Brevet:    This is the 1st worldwide sanctioned brevet to be conducted in China.   If nothing else, challenge yourself to complete the brevet in the alloted time and have your name entered in the records in France.   For this ride:

A waiver will be required

You will have to ride to control points and get there during alloted times.

Start time will be 7:00 to 7:30 where I stamp the first Control Point verification. 

You will receive back from France your "brevet card" with certification.

You can order a brevet medal (your cost) as a souvenir.

I'm trying to create another "memento" and it's in the works.

 

100K Populaire:   Called a populaire.  All brevets must be 200K or longer.  For fun, you can ride the 100K route starting anytime you'd like and finishing whenever you want.   That's it.  Get the cue sheet, ride, have fun.  Email jkeenan0407@yahoo.com if you want the 100k cue sheet

 

200K Ride:  Don't want to do the official brevet but want to ride the 200K route on April 14th or whenever you want?  Email jkeenan0407@yahoo.com for the cue sheet.  You can do this ride on the 14th or whenever your heart monitor says it's okay.

 

I'm riding the complete route (200K and the 100K goes over most of the same roads) tomorrow to check for road condition and to verify the cue sheet.

 

Cue Sheet:  This will be an excel file that you can print out. 

 

Start/End:  All rides will start and end at the Zhong Shan Station area in Shanghai head out and thru Zhudi Town and towards Suzhou and back.

 

ROC's whole organization consists of just a ver few folks.  If the spirit and rides of randonneuring appeals to you, I welcome your help, thoughts and suggestions.

 

May 12th: Another sanctioned 200K and a possible sanctioned 300K.
