Nie Hao,
A quick update on Randonndurs of China (ROCn) and what's planned.
As a refresher ROCn is a volunteer organization whose primary goals
are to promote randonneuring (long distance cycling) in China and to
serve China's randonneuring community. ROCn also has the goal of
providing ultra cycling rides to China, such as Metric Centuries, a
100km ride.
ROCN HELP: If you'd like to help me keep this alive and well, send
me an email. Anyone. Qualification: If you can breathe and cycle,
that'll do. Heck, if you can just breathe, you're in.
CHINESE NATIONALIST CYCLIST: Looking for a bilingual Chinese cyclist
to help build a Chinese web page and post to other Chinese sites.
Plus, it would be wonderful to have a Chinese nationalist qualify for
Paris Brest Paris in 2011.
ROCn website: http://rocn.bikealot.org/ Added some links to other
randonneur sites.
UPCOMING RIDES, ETC
NOV 10, 11: A 100km ride either in Pudong or Suzhuo. Details by
next week. I'm scouting out a ride in Pudong next week which would
start and end at a cool looking pub. A rider in Suzhou has a couple
of loops that can be ridden as a 100km or 200km.
DAYLIGHT: With the dwindling daylight probably no 200km rides. Hey,
it's challenging enough riding in the daytime in and around Shanghai,
let alone at night when even cars sometimes don't use lights.
DEC: No brevets or long rides scheduled due to various holidays.
2008: 200km Brevets and 100km "Metric Centuries" will be conducted.
There is a calendar on the ROCn website with dates and times subject
to change. To get "officialdom" I had to submit a calendar and put
down a date for each month. Since we be a fairly small group, dates,
time, places, and anything else is subject to change to meet the
needs of whoever wants to ride. I'm pretty flexible (grin)
FHL: ROCn will always check with the FHL organizers to make sure a
ROCn ride doesn't conflict with an FHL event.
