Happy Friday everyone,

In some parts of the country, because track races are not sanctioned by USAC, per the current rules (7K7c) many athletes would be barred from competing at Track Nationals this year. The board has reached the decision that to circumvent this rule where necessary, any athlete without access to a USAC track race can petition to the board for qualification. This is mainly an issue in the southeast, but it is likely also a problem elsewhere.

The board would like to approve all these petitions in one fell swoop, during next Thursday’s BoT conference call. If you know this is an issue in your conference, please ask teams to submit petitions by next Thursday to me. Petitions should include two things:

1.       The issue (Riders have raced in 1 or more track races but these races are not sanctioned by USAC because there are no USAC sanctioned races in the ares)

2. Each Rider Name, License, School and list of races participated in.

There is also a form (which will be available via online registration and on-site) to verify the qualifications established in the above-mentioned rule (1 previous USAC track race and Cat 3/A to race in the points race), which I am attaching to this e-mail. Please forward this form on to your list-servs just so everyone has access to it at more than one point along the way.
