Collegiate Cyclists,
I hope each of you are having a great season or getting
ready to start one. We are now only 50 days away from the 2009 USA
Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships!
If members of your team are not on the conference email
list, please forward accordingly to disseminate the information.
USA Cycling, CSU, Ft. Collins, and all involved parties have
been working hard to make this year’s event better than last.
There are a few things to note as you prepare for your
chance to bring home some stars and bars or some hardware for your team.
Event Schedule – it has changed to better suite
the local organizer and more importantly you. The schedule will proceed
in this order; RR, Crit, TTT. A link will soon be available on USA Cycling’s
site here, https://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=97.
And a schedule is available here, http://www.fccyclingfest.com/usa-cycling-nationals.
Courses – the RR course presents the same roads,
but the direction of the race has changed to allow a more mellow warm-up to the
race and an all-around better racing experience. The TTT course has
changed completely, while the Crit will remain in downtown. Please
take a look at the new information here, http://www.fccyclingfest.com/event-mapsdirections.
Secure Shipping/Receiving
– The
host hotel, Hilton Ft.Collins, is offered a stellar deal for lodging that will
put you in the middle of the action and will allow you to avoid the outrageous
fees of flying with your bike. The Hilton has arranged a secure and
locked room for receiving that may only be accessed by presentation of picture
ID of an item addressed to that individual in the room. They have also
arranged an onsite shipping agreement with UPS and FedEx, so you can pack,
weigh, and ship your bike all from the hotel w/o any offsite transport.
They request that you; 1) address the package to ONLY the person that will be
picking it up (either yourself or a designated team leader), 2) please ship the
package that it arrives NO EARLIER than 4 days prior to guest arrival, and 3)
bring your photo ID to pick up the bike. The mailing address is: The
Hilton Fort Collins 425 W. Prospect Road Fort Collins, CO 80526.
UCI Bike Measurements – As a USA Cycling
National Championship, all bicycles must comply with UCI technical regulations.
For those that were present last year, the most hiccups occurred for TT
bikes. Please take time to review the guidelines vailable at UCI and are found in Part 1,
General Regulations under Section 1.3 beginning on page 54. For a detailed
visual guide that will help you understand if you qualify for an exemption,
please see USA Cycling Guide:
Race Bible – The final revisions are being made
to the Race Bible and it will soon be posted on the event page.
Keep your eyes peeled for all the juicy information and for some extras in this
year’s event schedule, that may include a Collegiate Coaching clinic,
Collegiate Board of Trustee forums, and Rider meetings!
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact
me or your National events staff (cced here) at USA Cycling. Looking
forward to a great race in CO!
Cheers,
Daniel
