Hello RMCCC,
I hope you are all excited about our first race of the season this weekend in New Mexico. I have been receiving several questions about licenses, so I thought I'd send another email trying to clear things up. Please pass this along to your clubs
Collegiate license categories are now linked to USAC categories. This means many of you will have to formally upgrade to A (EVEN IF YOU RACED A'S LAST YEAR!).
To do this, you need to request an upgrade through the usacycling website. You will be asked to post your race resume, and this request will be forwarded to Daniel Matheny (National Collegiate Director). Daniel will then decide if you get the upgrade (he will contact me if it doesn't look clear). If you have already received your 2008 license with the incorrect category, you will need to get a re-issue of your license to show your proper category (or print your 'Authorization to Ride'). You MUST have one of these stating you are an "A" to race "A's" . We are NOT doing upgrades at the races - it must be done online - so get your request in ASAP if you're planning on racing this weekend.
I have been trying to get this information out to clubs - see links on RMCCC website. If you can forward this on to your club members that would be great. Also, riders should request upgrades before renewing their license to avoid the re-issue fee.
