First of all, sorry for jumping the gun a little on putting out a
preliminary schedule. I had forgotten that I had said June 1st was
the deadline for those. So here's the latest:
-As per our rules, we cannot hold a race on the weekend before Labor
Day, so the Mesa Race is no longer scheduled for Sept. 1-2. We will
try to fit it elsewhere.
-A few teams have bids for the same weekend, so I need your help
sorting out which one gets which weekend. One vote per team, please
give me your votes by the end of the day on Friday.

Here is the first vote:
The weekend of Sept. 15-16
Colorado School of Mines vs. University of Colorado
Below I have included info from both of their requests. Please read
it over and let me know which team should have this weekend.

CSM:
4.) Disciplines included in race (i.e. XC, DH, RR, Crit):
Cross country, short track, mountain cross, and dual slalom
5.) Location(s) for race: Nathrop, Colorado
6.) Preferred weekend for race:
September 15-16, 2007. Note that this date is strongly preferred.
Keith Darner and his wife have already committed to this date and he
has permission to use the land this weekend. Due to prior commitments
at other racing venues, Keith may have trouble with any other date.
8.) Why would your race be a worthwhile addition to the schedule?
This weekend of events will include a regional favorite XC course,
short track race, revamped mountain cross venue and a new dual slalom
race. This equates to two races per discipline (endurance/gravity).
These courses are built for racing and have a proven track record –
the Mountain States Cup series hosts an event in Nathrop each
season. Speaking of the MSC, we're going to hire two additional race
organizers from the MSC to provide professional timing and results for
the event.
9.) Do you have any additional activities planned beyond the actual
races (i.e. banquet, social, movie, gear swap).
Racers will be allowed to camp at the race site – campfire
get-togethers are encouraged!
10.) Do you, or any of your teammates/coaches/advisers, have
experience hosting a race?
Keith has made a living hosting bike races and we've hosted 5 large
events as a team. Our team is motivated and gets the job done,
overcoming obstacles as they arise. Additionally, we make a point of
meeting conference requirements (flyer timelines, etc).

CU:
4.) Disciplines included in race (i.e. XC, DH, RR, Crit): XC, Short
Track, DH (Super D)
5.) Location(s) for race: Golden Gate State Park, Golden, CO
6.) Preferred weekend for race: September 16th and 17th, the later the
date the more risk of adverse weather conditions as our venue is at
9,000 feet.
8.) Why would your race be a worthwhile addition to the schedule?
The cross country courses allow us to have an advanced course for more
experienced racers and a beginner course for new riders. The Super D
course is challenging for downhillers and also safe enough for
cross country riders thus providing more racing opportunities
Last year we provided free and subsidized camping for all participants
and the race is centrally located in the middle of the state and close
to the Front Range. Our events are well organized and an ambulance is
always on site in case of emergencies.
9.) Do you have any additional activities planned beyond the actual
races (i.e. banquet, social, movie, gear swap).
We intend to sponsor a social around the camp fire.
10.) Do you, or any of your teammates/coaches/advisers, have
experience hosting a race?
Yes, over 100 races promoted since 1999.

Thanks for your help,

Spencer
