RAMS CYCLING HOSTS 1st ANNUAL RAMS ROAD RIVALRY WEEKEND

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – CSU Rams Cycling is hosting the 1st Annual Rams Road Rivalry Weekend on March 24-25, including a team time trial, road race and criterium. The weekend promises to be exciting for the seasoned cyclist, beginner, and especially spectators. With all ages and levels welcome, it will be a full weekend for everyone.

The weekend kicks off in Masonville on Saturday, March 24 for the team time trial bright and early. “We are excited to be putting on a TTT. It is one of the most challenging and graceful disciplines in cycling,” said Andy Clark, Rams Cycling Director Sportif. The same course will then be used for a road race split into three start waves.  This 9 mile loop in the foothills south of Horsetooth Reservoir will be rolling, fast and challenging. On Sunday, the weekend closes with the 21st Annual Oval Criterium on the CSU campus. This event is a long standing tradition in the northern Colorado cycling community and is always an exciting day for all.

The Rams Cycling team would like to invite everyone out for the weekend. All of the weekend’s volunteers from both CSU and the community will be invited to race for free. Non-collegiate racers will be organized into standard USCF race categories. Race fees are $20 for collegiate entry and $25 for USCF entry, though a discount is awarded to those racing all three races. A $5 licensing fee per day also applies to those who are not annual members with the USA Cycling organization. Registration is available before the race online or at the race site the day of for no additional cost. Even kids are encouraged to race at noon during the Muffin Crit!

The CSU Oval Criterium, first held in 1986, is the one of the most respected and oldest road races in Northern Colorado.  This race weekend is a primary fundraiser for the rams cycling team’s nationally ranked program. This is the first weekend that the team will be hosting a full weekend of racing but it promises to become the newest cycling tradition of the area, and another great weekend of racing brought to you by rams cycling.

For more information, please visit the team’s website, www.ramscycling.com. Pre-registration is also available online at www.active.com.
