Weeknights are a bit hectic, so I'd be interested running earlier in
the day. Fridays or Saturdays work best for me for the longer runs.

Hi again, although it probably won't be so Spring-ish quite when we
get back from break, it will be pretty soon. With that in mind, when
do you all want to run for Spring quarter?

I've also been thinking about trying to establish a once weekly longer
run, at least 5 miles, if you'd be interested in that, let me know if
you'd prefer Friday, Saturday, or Sunday for it. We would more than
likely always go off campus for that, to one of the trails in the
area, or maybe drive to Mendon Ponds.

Elections will also be coming up this quarter, I think we'll try for
week 5, so if you've ever wanted to run or help run a club, this a
pretty good chance. I'll probably give some more details on this in
the next few weeks. At the least, we'll need to have a president for
next year for the club to continue.

Also if anyone else has comments or suggestions, feel free to contribute.

Thanks,
Adam Cornwell

Although it's quickly approaching the end of the quarter, we had
planned to go to another race, which will be next Sunday, the 17th.

Polar Cat Series race #6
Mendon Ponds Park 5k
Starts at 10 am

Note that this is not a cross-country race, it will be entirely on
pavement.

We'll meet as usual behind the field house at 8:30 am.
If anything changes, I'll post another message.

Thanks everyone who came to the last race!

yup, it's been 6:15 Monday through Thursday, although I can't run on
Tuesdays for the rest of the quarter. There hasn't been any time set
for Friday or weekends. I would say that running inside isn't that
boring but I think that isn't the commonly uphelp opinion, so I think
I'm a little strange like that, at least the indoor tracks are a bit
more interesting than treadmills.

Have you run in winter before? I can't think of too much specific
advice, aside from dressing appropriately, hat and gloves are a good
idea. I actually have glove liners that I use by themselves for races,
since they provide some wind protection, but aren't bulky and won't
end up being too warm by the end.

I sent another message specifically about the upcoming race last
night, let use know if you're planning on going :)

Hello! Saturday, Jan 26th, we'll be going to the Freezeroo Hearnish
10K race, which will be at Powder Mills park. If anyone is interested
in coming along, please reply. If you haven't run a race in winter
before, as long as you dress appropriately, it really isn't too bad :)

I'll be able to drive there, so if anyone needs a ride, we'll meet at
the back of the field house (the side facing the track) outside at
8:30 am. The race starts at 10am, so that gives us some time to get
over there and do some stretching.

Hope everyone's breaks were good, and welcome back! Since it's rather
unseasonably warm, we'll probably run outside the next few days, might
as well take advantage of it!

Ok, sorry for the delay, we've got things figured out now, so here's
what we're looking at for winter!

First of all, thanks for filling out the surveys, I think those
results ended up being useful.

Early evening ended up being the most popular time, so we'll be
running at around 6:15pm Monday - Thursday, and we'll meet in front of
the cage by the locker rooms in the SLC.

Mondays happen to correspond with Triathlon club's running workout, so
they may end up being a little different, depending on what Neil has
planned. The Tri club swimming workouts for this quarter are at 7:30pm
Tuesday and Thursday at the pool, and anyone is welcome to go to those.
The Wednesday's children group still runs at 7:00am on Wednesdays from
S-lot too! If none of these times happen to fit your schedule, feel
free to post to the group and see if anyone else is interested.

We'll be running mostly inside (in the field house, or the upper track
if the field house is being used), but if it looks like it'll be a
particularly nice evening for it, I'll try to send something out the
night before. If anyone knows any routes around here that work well
for evening winter runs, that'd be great :)

Also, mark your calendars for two races:
First, Freezeroo Series #4- The Hearnish "10K" on January 26th
and Polar Cat #6 (5k)- At Mendon Ponds park, on February 17th
Check out http://grtconline.org/Racecal.html for all the races in the
area this season.

Finally, We'll be planning an indoor soccer game for fun after the
break, we'll send more info when we get a date for that, but we're
trying to go for a Tuesday or Thursday on week 4 or 5 (it'd probably
be instead of the normal run).

Is there any schedule set up yet for meeting times this quarter?  I was only able to come to the first meeting last quarter(the work piled up a lot more than I expected and my schedule changed), but I have a ton more time this quarter and wanted to get running, but I didn't see a listing of times.  I know that survey got sent out about improving the club which addressed times and I was just curious if anything had been organized.

Thanks,
Dave Sellers

Hello everyone!
I hope you all are having a fun and relaxing fall break.
The Running Club would like to improve itself, and in order to gather
your opinions we are asking if you would take just 3 minutes to answer
a quick survey for us.
The link is: http://clipboard.rit.edu/takeSurvey.cfm?id=4nj537
It is very short, and your answers are much appreciated and will help
us grow and offer more for our members.

Thank you so much and enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Hello Running Club Members,

I just sent this note to the Multisport Club and thought I should
probably copy you folks as well, because I know some of you also ran
this race.

FYI: I was able – with some tech help from a friend – to mess with
the excel file and re-sort all of the Brick City 5k finishers by
finish time. Thought you might like to link to it or copy it to your
web site.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Happy running!

Peter Haggerty

BTW: if any one is around the week of Thanksgiving there are some
great races, including a special 5-miler at Mendon Ponds with one-mile
on trails and about 50 yards up "cardiac hill." These races are all
listed on the GRTC web site.

Brick City 5K is Sunday (that would be today now), registration
starting at 8:30 am, race starting at 10:00 am behind Grace Watson
(Gracie's), which is also where it will end.

and it's free!

Hey everyone.

This is very, very late notice. Tonight there is a presentation on
Alcohol abuse and hazing in Ingle Auditorium at 7:30pm. It is a new
requirement that sport clubs are required to attend. 75% of the club
is supposed to go. I know that people have classes and tests, but if
you are able to, please attend.

Ah, that’s one of the great joys of running. All streets assume a different meaning for you and become your own.

Well, say “hi” at the run Like Hell, for sure.  Or maybe we’ll see you some Wednesday morning in S LOT at 7 a.m. For a run with the group.

Happy running!

he would like to come back earlier because he'll be done much sooner than full
marathoners.
Anne, you mentioned yesterday that you were going to be doing the half marathon,
so could
you get back to me to coordinate rides. If anyone else is planning on doing the
marathon(half
or full) let us know!

Thanks!

Hi, this is the Running Club President. As Travis said, we gladly
except runners of any and every ability. This year we are actually
trying something new. Lauren (our Treasurer) has decided to host an
Easy Run day. This is going to be on Monday nights at 7:00pm. The
main focus for this run to be running at a nice slow pace with shorter
distances. Anyone who wants to can and should come along, even if you
run at a faster pace on these days. Running Club is a great place to
meet people with similar and differing running abilities with a
friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Adam already sent out a message about times we are going to be running
this quarter. If you still have questions about the times, feel free
to e-mail me at sag3595@.... We are going to start running on
Monday, Sept. 10th with one of Lauren's nice easy runs.

Also, don't forget there is a Kick-Off meeting with Tri Club tonight
at 7:30pm in the RITreat (across from the SAU dining area). There
will be pizza!!!

Hope to see you all running!!!

I’ll add another option, if you are an early bird.

The faculty/staff/student group that runs/walks at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning includes a group that walks, including segments of race walking and power walking. Distance is anywhere from a mile to three miles to 5 miles. You are very welcome to join us any Wednesday.

I'm sure you can join the runs at any speed, though I have
yet to make a group run.  None of the runs fit my schedule
very well.  So if you'd like to join me for a run I'd be
happy to take a nice easy run/walk.  Let me know and we can
set something up.  I usually run sometime between 12 and 2.

Hello again, I had the time for the late run on Wednesdays wrong, it's
going to be 9:00pm, not 9:30 pm. Sorry about that.
