I just moved into town last night and I was wondering if anyone runs on Sunday
mornings by chance. I'm looking to train for the Austin Marathon in Feb, so I
would probably try to get in around 10-12 miles tomorrow. You can email me at

Thanks.
College Park Cares 5K race on September 26th. The beneficiaries are Dimensions Healthcare and MNCPPC. Visit http://www.collegeparkcares.com/ for registration information.
WaldenUniversity is sponsoring the Celebrate Your Style 5K is on Saturday, August 29th at 8:30am at the Executive Plaza IV in HuntValley. All proceeds go towards providing free CREATE Everyday Geniuses workshops to Maryland Elementary schools.
Any one want to run the NCR trail tomorrow morning with me around 7:30am. I am
going 19m total. Even if you do part of it with that would be great. I will be
around 8:20pace.
Runners,
If you want a FAST 5k time, I recommend doing the Rite Aid 5k on Sunday,
Aug 16th.
Jeff Damiano, Nelly Budrow and I calibrated the course on July 30th
using the USATF calibration procedures. Using 2 bikes equipped with
the required Jones Counters, we were only 6 ft apart at the end of the
5k. It's as accurately measured as any 5k course in the area.

P.S. If you're not running, we can still use a couple more helpers with
the Finish Line.
Army 10-Miler Registration available for transfer ($30). Army 10-Miler will be
held Sunday, October 4. Registration transfer needs to be effected by August
14.

Hey I'm new in town and looking for some guys/girls to run with. I am logging
80-100mpw in the White Marsh area. Any pace is welcomed from 7-9min for
training is good unless on the track. Please find me since these roads are
eating me up alone. Also if you know any good trails around let me know other
than GunPowder.
Rjjazz Peace,
I recently saw a great movie about running and I thought I'd pass the good word
along.
Please visit http://www.runningthesahara.com/
This is a documentary about 3 men who ran across the Sahara desert in Africa.
It took them 111 days and they covered about 50 miles per day on average (that's
2 marathons per day). They never took a day off, and temperatures reached 140 F
at times. Their total mileage was more than 4,300 miles, which is almost from
here to California and back – without a break.
Also take note of http://www.h20africa.org/ which is the website for the charity
that these men started after completing this run. It focuses on bringing clean
drinking water to remote, arid regions of Africa.
Trust me when I tell you that your long runs will never be quite the same after
you've watched this film.
Enjoy
Aqua jogging is a great substitute. It might be the best substitute actually...
besides not getting used to the pounding. If you are a bouyant body (like I
am), and you keep your turnover high, you might be able to get used to not
having a belt. When I had IT & patella tendon issues, aqua jogging helped me--
but I wasn't training for a marathon... There might be limits to how far you
can effectively train using aqua jogging.
Good luck!

No meat......really? Since I started running again I am hungry to the point where my stomach feels like its eating its own lining. I eat 6 small meals but sometimes it feels like its not enough. I don't really eat red meat more chicken than anything so I will definitely have to checkout your blog!!

Great idea! I'll check it out. I have a blog too, about being a vegetarian runner. It's http://www.NoMeatAthlete.com. Maybe we can link to each other?

Hi everyone,
My wife Erin and I just joined RASAC this year. We went to one meeting, then
both of us got injuries and we're finally recovered, so we'll be joining you for
some runs soon.
During my injury downtime, I started a blog (www.NoMeatAthlete.com), all about
being an endurance athlete and eating a pescetarian diet (vegetarian, plus some
fish). I'm also really into cooking, so I post lots of fun and easy recipes
that are really good! So even if you're not vegetarian, you still might find
something good to mix it up with.
Thanks for your time, and I would really appreciate any feedback you can give
me about the blog!

2009 University of Maryland Heart Center Baltimore 10-Miler Date Set
for June 20th
Baltimore, MD - Corrigan Sports Enterprises (CSE) announced today the
University of Maryland Heart Center will again be the title sponsor
of the second annual Baltimore 10-Miler. Race day is set for
Saturday, June 20th at 7:30 a.m. at Druid Hill Park near the Maryland
Zoo.
"Get on your running shoes! We are proud to once again sponsor the
Baltimore 10-Miler. Last year's event was a huge success. This is a
great way for us to reach out to the community while promoting the
importance of exercise for heart health," said Alison Brown, Senior
Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at the
University of Maryland Medical Center.
The course will be similar to last year's which ran along two of
Baltimore's lakeside parks, Druid Hill Park and Lake Montebello.
"Baltimore area runners really wanted and needed a race of this
distance. We limited to the race to 2,000 people and were able to
sell out in 30 days. This year we are allowing the event to grow to
3,000 runners and we expect a sell out again. Ten miles seems to be
the perfect distance for this time of year" comments Lee Corrigan,
event organizer.
The event will feature some of the best post race amenities including
cold wash clothes, watermelon slices, complimentary beer for runners,
and a post race celebration with live music taking place at the Zoo.
Registration will cost $50 and will open on February 20, 2009.
To sign up visit www.baltimore10miler.com
Proceeds from the event will benefit the University of Maryland Heart
Center, the Baltimore Police Foundation and the Maryland Zoo.

Has anyone seen a date for the 2009 Bel Air town run? I'm planning a
vacation and I'd like to make sure I don't miss this.
Any help is appreciated.
Matt
Thanks for participating in the operational test of the new Charm City Run timing equipment. The posted results were captured using a Time Machine and computer.
The new timing equipment did well for the most part. There were a few issues and I would like to contact Jeremy Laubach, Scott Walton and Lonnie McNew.
The tags worn by Jeremy and Scott did not record finish data. We would like to ensure the tag remained on the shoe or was taken off because it flapped around or fell off, etc.
Tag worn by Lonnie fell off. Like to know whether the laces can loose, zip tie or safety pin failed.
Like feedback from all on the tag in general : how did the tag feel running, comfort compared to the chip transponders worn around the ankle, ease of using laces, zip ties or safety pins to hold the tag.
