Only one pin on brake flew off on the first shot. The others took from 5-15
shots before they flew off. So one was misaligned from the start but the
others "worked loose" into being misaligned.
I have threaded several AK rifles 1/2-28 that had barrels that were
.508"-.512" in diameter without any problems or tightness.
Your barrel being only .023" larger than 11mm a 11x1mm split die should have
no problem cutting the threads. But this would require making a muzzle brake
or making a 11x1mm to 14x1mmLH adapter.

J, you are absolutely right. My gun is a Century MISR that was sold with US made parts and a regular buttstock and pistolgrip. The muzzle mics out at .456"....

Were teh Maadi rifles barrels turned to this beneath the front sight block as well? I thought they were standard Euro-pattern guns until teh threads in front...

The Maadis are Russian guns for all intents and purposes. The Russians brought the factory over from Russia completely. I'll mike the barrel under the front...

Your barrel diameter where the front sight is should be the standard 0.575". Guess what? The standard AK74 front sight goes on at a barrel diameter of 0.575"...

I cannot recall offhand if the divots in the barrel will line up with the pin holes for the AK74 front sight -- but that can be fixed with a hand file in...

Only the threads for the muzzle brake were turned off the end of the barrel all other dimensions were not altered....
