If "they" care about an SKS , bolt action will be trouble, too   Message List

The bolt action is a lot less gun if you need one, so why not have the
SKS? In some states, a loaded box magazine is considered to be the
same thing as having the gun loaded. A loaded stripper clip, however,
is NOT "part of the gun", so it can legally rubberbanded to the gun.
You can thus be loaded and firing in about 5 seconds. The CorBon
150gr Softpoint is 2300 fps from the SKS. Because of its pointed
bullet shape, it outperforms the 30-30 beyond about 75 yds.

The older, steel-cored 7.62x39 ammo is very penetrative on cars. So
about 3 stripper clips would be a great idea. One can be full of
SP's, one can be full of steel cored ball ammo, and one can be mixed.
Depending upon your needs, grab the appropriate clip.

The Yugo SKS costs about 1/3rd as much as a Marlin lever action, and
its practice ammo costs 1/4 as much. Therefore, the SKS is a far
superior gun for horseback, ATV, or 4 wheeled vehicle.
