Sounds like you are honking like a Canadian goose, and if not you
will. Just get some spray graphite lube. Personally I took them
apart, and doing so I snapped two bolts. I went and bought some real
bolt at the store and soaked them in Teflon chain oil for my mountain
bike. That provided a much smoother bounce. You will notice they are
significantly dry when you take them apart. I think it is wise to
lube them before you use them much like a bike or rollerblades.
