Phoenix Kendo Kai

is offering instructions in KENDO - Japanese Sword Fencing - for 20 years in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. (and serving the Greater Phoenix area: Glendale, Mesa, Scottsdale, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise, Chandler, Gilbert, Ahwatukee, etc.)

We are members of the Pasadena Japanese Cultural Institute Kendo Dojo. PCI is a member dojo of the Southern California Kendo Federation, which is a regional member of the All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF).

Our Instructors...
Our senior instructor is Sensei Maki Miyahara, Hanshi, hatchi-dan and James Yamasaki, go-dan. Our Phoenix instructors is Tami {Tommy} Higure.

The YMCA is located 350 North First Avenue, just North of Van Buren Blvd. Across from the Phoenix Downtown Regional Transit Center.

If you are interested in learning about kendo:
* Wear comfortable clothes that do not bind at the shoulder or drop below the ankle.

* Prior fencing or martial arts experience is not necessary.

* Shinai (bamboo swords) vary in length according to height and age. Speak to an instructor before purchasing.

* As a club, we do NOT sell kendo keiko-gi, hakama, nor bogu. We can, however, recommend suppliers that have good reputations with us.
