Re: [Petrova-Tikhonov] the ESPN article

I don't like this article...

"In exchange, he arranged for the Russian judge to vote for the
French ice dancing team of Marina Anissina and Gwendal Peizerat of
France. They did win."

They carefully omitt the fact that the Russian judge didn't vote for
them! And that not many people seemed to feel anything was wrong
with A&P winning, even the people who prefered L&A on the night,
usually agree it could have gone either way! If anything, I think
it's disturbing that a team, which is basically a rightful winner
(A&P and L&A were definetely best of the night and I'd consider
either of them a rightful winner which ever way it went) has to go
into these kind of tactics to win... It means the problem doesn't
just lie in France and Russia...

Before I actually believe it, I want to hear some other coverage!

Monika

This story came at a good time, the height of the off-season. We skatefans need some excitement.
Apparently the alleged crime took place in the U.S. and that`s why U.S. prosecuters are involved.
If  Annissina was involved with this guy, it would be very puzzling. IMHO A/P looked like the clear winners in compulsories, OD and FD. After all, Lobacheva had injury problems and looked it.
Now to go to r.s.s.i.f. and see what other people are saying, Monika.

Cheers,
Arthur

P.S.  Come to think of it Ice Dance doesn`t need this bad publicity and for that reason I`m sorry that it is happening.
