"America's Email"....."EMPTY SEATS.....DON'T BUY HOTDOGS" - Bob Neal.... ~
WELCOME To the Friday "Field"...The email that is all about Friends and
Family...The opening today is about my very good friend and mentor BOB
NEAL.....Bob passed away 13 months ago...He was my oldest adult friendship at 30
years...The Hot Dog statement may seem odd to many of you...But as a pro
baseball executive it says so very much...It meant that yoou promote EVERY Home
game with some promotion...For those who don't know ...Gate ticket sales are not
the main revenue of a baseball
game......Food.....Hotdogs...Hamburgers....Popcorn...Nachos and BEER.....You can
get about 144 beers out of a 50 dollar keg.....Think of the last beer you bought
at a ballgame.....Bob also said "Alwats Pull the Tarps"......First it helps save
the game...And it shows your staff...players and the FANS that you are willing
to do whatever it takes to save that game,,,Now he taught me so many more issues
not as simple - But
these two seem simple ...but mean so much...Bob taught me just about everything
I know about running a pro baseball team....I know he looks down on us and to my
dear friend, Bob's wife Janice. God Bless I love ya Janice..... ~ "From "Big
League Dreams".....Worst fans ....For me it was the fans of the Lynchburg
Mets......In 1977 - many of you were only a twinkle in someone's eye - I know -
It was Sept 1977 Carolina League Championship Series...Games 1 and 2 were in the
Hill City..... First things were so bad that our bus had to make a "cork screw
park and landing"....."We had to avoid sniper fire on the way" into city
stadium.. ,The staff and wives of the Pilots were sitting behind our
dugout...The stadium was full and the Lynchburg fans were yelling at
us..THROWING trash at us..etc...We won!! The players were heading to the club
house when the fans approached us ....We had no where to go but the field....Our
players ran over to protect us....Than both team went on to have
a huge fight....Now I may be a "typical white person" but I was only 17 years
old...We went on to win the Carolina League Championship and I won my first
Champoionship ring in my first year! Lynchburg was so "bitter" that they joined
a "church and bought hand guns" ~ Thanks to the 2 democrats running for
President for adding to this story..All is true but the " " ...... ~Today's
Web Site www.auburndoubledays.com .......We wish our dear friend CarolynAnn
Cody Turner a speedy recovery!!......~ To email me personall do not send it to
the group address..If you do 2000 online groups will see it..... So use
John@... ,...Finally..This weekend pick up the phone and call a
friend or family member......Painting the Internet Red...White and Blue..Thats
My Field of Dreams..Have an OUTSTANDING Friday....."Sic Semper Tyrannis"...Let's

American League Report
BALTIMORE ORIOLES – The past two seasons, Nick Markakis has struggled to the
tune of a .221 April average. Here’s hoping you didn’t plan on waiting for his
usual slow start and taking advantage of a panicking owner as he is off to a
strong start. Normally, when a hitter’s walks are up, that is a good thing, but
it appears that teams are not going to let Markakis beat them. George Sherrill
has 5 saves in 5 chances, but tougher days are ahead. In 4.2 IP, he has yet to
allow a hit, has walked 2 and struck out 3. The hits will soon fall and his
historical trouble versus righties will surface.

THE MOST FATAL ILLUSION IS THE SETTLED POINT OF VIEW. SINCE LIFE IS
GROWTH
AND MOTION, A FIXED POINT OF VIEW KILLS ANYBODY WHO HAS
ONE....WELCOME to the
Tuesday from Syracuse. I am Marc Techman...It snowed here on Sunday..... The
current temperature is 30, but the
sun is
out. We could see 45 degrees today....TODAY'S Celebrity Scandal
Gary
Coleman...... Do you all remember him from the show Different
Strokes?
It was very unfortunate what happened to the three children from the
show.
All were in jail at one time or another, capped off by the overdose
death of
Dana Plato....THIS DAY in history - JACKIE ROBINSON joined the Brooklyn Dodgers
going 0-4........FROM THE FILES OF YOU'VE GOT TO
BE
KIDDING ME - "ROSE" LET GO AGAIN!!!!!
(darn!!)....A
MAJOR topic on the Field is to determine why Rose let go of Jack on
Titanic.
We really don't know what was going through Rose's mind, but I do
have a
theory. Those of you on the list have heard this, but for the new
people - I
believe that Rose was President of a 19th Century Booster Club whose
soul
purpose in life was their own gain. Her Booster Club would lie and
deceive
to get what they wanted either emotionally or financially. This
would become
the blue print for which all Booster Clubs would be run....WHAT would
have
happened if Peter Gammons was on Titanic? Well, Rose probably would
have let
HIM go too. ESPN's baseball coverage would be more interesting, but
our
fearless leader - JHG - would have no one to tell off in 1991....IN THE NEWS -
The
POPEMAKES HIS FIRST VISIT TO THE USA....... We must continue to pray for
peace....AND
FINALLY -
Needing someone is like needing a parachute. If he isn't there the
first
time, chances are you won't be needing him again. That's the
TUESDAY Field.
See you on the First Tee. - Marc Techman - Assoc Editor

"AmericaS Primary Email.......
" Straight Lies
> By Thomas Sowell
> February 1, 2008
> We have been hearing for years that Senator John McCain gives
> "straight talk" and his bus has been endlessly referred to as the
> "straight talk express." But endless repetition does not make
> something true.
> The fact that McCain makes short, blunt statements does not make
> him a straight-talker.
> There are short, blunt lies -- and he told a big one on the eve of
> the Florida primary, when he claimed that Mitt Romney had advocated
> a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.
> Even the Washington Post, which supports McCain, said that the
> Senator "has distorted the meaning" of what Governor Romney said,
> that Romney "has never proposed setting 'a date for withdrawal.'"
> During Mitt Romney's ABC News interview that Senator McCain
> twisted, Governor Romney was asked by the interviewer whether he
> agreed with President Bush's veto of Congressional legislation
> setting a timetable for withdrawal, and whether Romney as President
> would veto similar legislation.
> "Of course," was Romney's reply. There was no ambiguity.
> Confronted with his lie on Wednesday night's debate, McCain
> blustered and filibustered in a manner reminiscent of Captain Queeg
> in "The Caine Mutiny," when he was caught in a lie during a navy
> inquiry.
> When confronted with any of his misdeeds, Senator McCain tends to
> fall back on his record as a war hero in Vietnam.
> Let's talk sense. Benedict Arnold was a war hero but that did not
> exempt him from condemnation for his later betrayal.
> Being a war hero is not a lifetime get-out-of-jail-free card. And
> becoming President of the United States is not a matter of
> rewarding an individual for past services.
> The Presidency is a heavy responsibility for the future of the
> nation, including generations yet unborn. Character and integrity
> are major qualifications.
> The passing years and a friendly media have allowed Senator
> McCain's shortcomings in the character and integrity department to
> fade into the background.
> McCain was one of "the Keating five" -- Senators who used their
> influence to try to protect a failing savings & loan company, which
> also became the subject of a corruption investigation.
> During the 2000 primaries, the Associated Press reported Senator
> McCain's joking about people with Alzheimer's.
> This went beyond bad taste because (1) it was known at the time
> that Ronald Reagan was suffering from Alzheimer's and (2) the media
> to whom McCain was pandering hated Ronald Reagan.
> It is especially ironic now to see McCain wrapping himself in the
> mantle of President Reagan.
> With the momentum of his Florida primary win behind him, going into
> the "Super Tuesday" primaries, John McCain has now been restored to
> the position of front runner that the media gave him at the outset.
> Other Republicans are jumping on his bandwagon. This may have less
> to do with McCain's own qualities than with the prospect of getting
> Cabinet posts or Supreme Court appointments as rewards for their
> political support.
> It may all look like a done deal. But the McCain-Kennedy bill
> giving amnesty to illegal aliens looked like a done deal two years
> ago -- until the public realized the truth behind the spin and
> brought that sell-out to a screeching halt.
> Super Tuesday may be the voters' last chance to bring the so-called
> "straight talk express" to a screeching halt.
> It should be called the "sell-out express" because McCain has sold
> out not only with amnesty for illegal aliens but also sold out the
> First Amendment with the McCain-Feingold "campaign finance reform"
> bill that was supposed to take big money out of political
> campaigns, but blatantly has not.
> McCain also sold out on judicial nominations by making his own side
> deal with the Democrats, undercutting Republican attempts to stop
> Democrats from filibustering judicial nominees instead of voting
> them up or down.
> This is quite a record for someone running as a straight talker.

Field of Dreams Communities Endorses Jim Gilmore for Senate!
<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->
Prepared by Bill Collier, Information Director

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> <!--[endif]-->
After meeting with the Board of Directors for Field of Dreams Communities,
Chairman and CEO John Graham announced today that Field of Dreams Communities is
endorsing Republican Jim Gilmore in his bid for the US Senate seat in Virginia.
Graham, a 17 year veteran of professional baseball, notes that, “this is an
extremely critical time when we have the likes of Harry Reid everyday trying to
tie the hands of our troops in the field and Virginia’s other Senator, Jim Webb,
who ran as a conservative Democrat, siding with the radical left in aiding Harry
Reid’s efforts.”
The Board of Directors in its private meeting today noted that Gilmore’s
rival, Mark Warner, is “essentially pulling a ‘Webb’, pretending to run
center-right but, like Webb, if he gets to Washington he is likely to become a
tool of Harry Reid.”
Many Democrats ran as conservatives in 2006 riding a wave of conservative
backlash against the GOP, but when they got to Washington they more or less did
as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid told them to do.
Says Graham, “we will, as a community, do everything in our power to make
people understand that a vote for Mark Warner is a vote for the likes of Jim
Webb who lied about his conservative credentials and Harry Reid, the man who Jim
Webb REALLY serves.”
Jim Gilmore has a lot to recommend him, from his staunch honesty to his proven
conservativism (social, fiscal, and foreign policy) and deserves your support,
according to John Graham.
In a statement, Graham said, ’the Field of Dreams Communities feels very
strongly that a loss in Virginia will have terrible effects for our whole nation
and urges all members of Field of Dreams Communities to send money and give
whatever support they can to the Gilmore campaign.”

"America's Email"...today by SHERRIE KIRBY
Subject: Movin' South ? You Better Read This
friend of mine just moved from So. California to South Carolina and
he e-mailed me this.
He said they gave it to him at the state line.
If you are going to live or visit in the South, you need to know these
rules.
1. That farm boy you see at the gas station did more work before
breakfast than you do all week at the gym.
2. It's called a "gravel road." No matter how slow you drive, you're
going to get dust on your Navigator. Drive it or get the
hell out of
the way.
3. The red dirt -- it's called clay. Red clay. If you like the color
don't wash your car for a couple weeks -- it'll be permanent.
4. We all started hunting and fishing when we were seven years old.
Yeah, we saw Bambi. We got over it.
5. Go ahead and bring your $600 Orvis Fly Rod. Don't cry to us if a
flathead breaks it off at the handle. We have a name for those little
13-inch trout you fish for -- bait.
6. Pull your pants up. You look like an idiot.
7. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of mallards are making their
final approach, we will shoot it. You might want to ensure it's not up
to your ear at the time.
8. No, there's no "Vegetarian Special" on the menu. Order steak.
Order it rare. Or, you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the two
pounds of ham and turkey.
9. Tea - yeah, we have tea. It comes in a glass over ice and is
sweet. You want it hot -- sit it in
the sun. You want it unsweetened
-- add a lot of water.
10. You bring Coke into my house, it better be brown, wet, and served
over ice.
11. So you have a sixty thousand-dollar car. We're real impressed.
We have a quarter of a million-dollar combine that we only use two
weeks a year.
12. Let's get this straight. We have one stoplight in town. We stop
when it's red. We may even stop when it's yellow.
13. We eat dinner together with our families. We pray before we eat
(yeah, even breakfast). We go to church on Wednesdays and Sundays and
we go to high school football games on Friday nights.
We still address our seniors with "yes, sir" and "yes, ma'am," and we
sometimes still take Sunday drives around town to see friends and
neighbors.
14. We don't do "hurry up" well.
15. Greens - yeah, we have greens, but you don't putt on them.
You boil them with salty fatback, bacon or a ham hock.
16. Yeah, we
eat catfish, bass, bream and carp. You really want sushi
and caviar? It's available at the bait shop.
17. They are pigs. That's what they smell like. Get over it.
Don't like it? Interstate 85 goes two ways - Interstate 40 goes the
other two. Pick one.
18. Grits are corn. You put butter, salt, and maybe even some pepper
on them. If you want to put milk and sugar on them, then you want
Cream of Wheat- go to Kansas. That would be I-40 west.
19. The "Opener" refers to the first day of deer season or dove
season. Both are holidays. You can get pancakes, cane syrup, and
sausage before daylight at the church on either day.
20. So every person in every pickup waves? Yeah, it's called being
friendly. Understand the concept?
21. Yeah, we have golf courses. Don't hit in the water hazards.
It spooks the fish and bothers the gators -and if you hit it in the
rough, we have these things called diamondbacks, and they're not
baseball players.
22. That Highway Patrol Officer that just pulled you over for driving
like an idiot -- his name is "Sir," no matter how young he is.
23. We have lots of pine trees. They have sap. It drips from them.
You park your Navigator under them, and they'll leave a logo on your
hood.
24. You burn an American flag in our state, you get beat up. No
questions asked.
25. No, we don't care how you do things up North. If it is so great
up there, why not visit a Northern state or stay there? And no, down
here, we don't have an accent, you do.

: "America's Email"....today by Arlene DiRocco :
This email was forwarded to you from the ASPCA website by a friend
who is helping us fight animal cruelty!
Thank NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the
Office of the Inspector General, USDA, for strong and decisive action against
Michael Vick.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell’s extremely firm and swift response to Michael
Vick’s guilty plea reinforces how seriously he takes not just the integrity of
the League, but his expectations of how animals should be treated in a humane
society. In addition, we salute the U. S. Attorney’s office and the Office of
the Inspector General, USDA, in their dedication to pursuing this case, which
has shone a bright light on the brutality of dog fighting and the critical need
to combat animal cruelty.
Please join the ASPCA in sending a message of support to Commissioner Goodell
and the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Inspector General, USDA,
letting them know that their efforts are not going unnoticed. The crucial steps
they have taken deserved to be recognized, and we hope that with our
encouragement other leaders will follow in their footsteps.

SMWW Continues to put its Footprint on the World of Soccer
There are many exciting things happening at Sports Management Worldwide. Today
we bring you some news about how SMWW is helping those who have a passion for
soccer, get an opportunity to work in the business side of the sport.
Sports Management Worldwide offers the Soccer Management & Scouting course for
those who want to learn the ins and outs of scouting soccer talent and working
in the front office (front of house) of a professional soccer club. The
instructors for the course are Shep Messing, a highly successful soccer agent
and broadcaster for the New York City Red Bulls of MLS and Derek Bragg, managing
director of The Scouting Network; an international soccer scouting company that
provides scouting information to some of the top clubs in the world.
Derek Bragg's unique company continues to grow its list of international
scouts that provide information for his large database of scouting information
on players. When SMWW started the partnership with Derek, we hoped that
individuals who took the Soccer Management & Scouting course would be given the
opportunity to show Derek their ability to evaluate talent. Well, that is just
what has happened.
Here is a list of SMWW students who are now working with Derek and The
Scouting Network:
Vidar Bjarnason works just about every weekend for The Scouting Network in
Denmark and Sweden. He recently made arrangements for Derek Bragg to speak with
the Icelandic Football Association regarding scouting for them (Vidar is from
Iceland, though living in Denmark currently).
Steve Simmons, Jermaine Blackwood, Rob Childs, Eric Anang and John Print are
all Soccer Scouting & Management course graduates that continue to assist The
Scouting Network in the UK on a variety of projects and scouting needs.
Andy Graham and Matthew Martin have covered players and events for The Scouting
Network in the USA, including MLS games.
Joao Pedro Solano did some work for The Scouting Network in South America. He
covered a tournament in Paraguay and also helped find information on players for
a report that Derek was completing for a club.
What makes these accomplishments great for SMWW is that all of these students
started off with little or no soccer/scouting experience. They have all now
gained important experience by working at the professional level of the game.
If you are interested in taking the Soccer Management & Scouting course with
SMWW, select this text to register today...
SMWW's Director of Soccer is FIFA certified agent John Print, who is located
in London, England. Print recently completed a deal that sent a talented
Canadian Under 20 player named Michael D'Agostino (pictured at the top of this
story) to the club Blackpool which plays in the Football League Champioship. The
Championship is the second highest division of professional soccer in England
(the Premier League being the top league in England and one of the highest
levels of soccer in the world).
To read about D'Agostino's signing with Blackpool, select this text...
SMWW Agent Advisor Dimitri Ziogou continued his hot streak in soccer when his
player Evan Milward was signed to Toronto FC's (MLS) development squad. Thus far
Milward has played in three games.
Sports Management Worldwide's upcoming Meet and Greet in London could have
some very distinguished guests. On Friday October 26th at the Hobgoblin Pub,
SMWW could be welcome English Premiership players Tim Howard, goalkeeper for
Everton, and Mark Schwarzer of Middlesbrough. Both players are represented by
SMWW's Soccer Management & Scouting course instructor Shep Messing and his
brother Roy Messing. Shep will also be in attendance at this Meet & Greet event.

SMWW Student lands internship with Oakland Raiders
Elizabeth Stone came to SMWW will a passion for football. As a college
senior at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo California, she was looking to
get her sports career started as soon as college was finished. Rather than
waiting to complete her degree first, she enrolled in the Football GM & Scouting
course right away in-order to get college credit for the course and also to plan
ahead on getting her foot in the door with an NFL team immediately following
graduation. Well, it worked and SMWW caught up with her to see how things are
going at the Oakland Raiders.
SMWW: Elizabeth, could you tell us about your position with the Oakland
Raiders.
I am a Sponsorship Services and Marketing Intern for the Oakland Raiders. I work
on the fulfillment side of the sponsorship contracts and make sure that our
sponsors are happy and are receiving everything outlined and promised to them in
their contracts. This includes everything from stadium signage and radio spots
to luxury suites and autographed merchandise.
SMWW: What was your experience like in the Football GM & Scouting course? How
did the course help you get and/or prepare for the position with the Raiders?
The Football GM & Scouting course I took through SMWW was honestly the best
class content-wise that I have ever taken. It was a great experience to learn
from the instructors (Russ Lande, Marc Trestman & Matt Brock) who had first-hand
NFL experience. It made the transition to working for an NFL team easier for me
because they had talked to us (the class) so much about what the NFL was really
like and what to expect from professionals in the industry.
Learning about scouting techniques, player analysis and even getting to use
Coach's Office to design football plays was the most fun and interesting part
for me because I don't know of any other course anywhere that can teach those
basic skills to people who want to learn more about professional-level scouting
and coaching. It helped me gain a much more in-depth understanding of what was
happening on the field.
SMWW: Would you recommend the course to others who want to get a career in
football? Why?
I would definitely recommend this course because it gives people the
opportunity to meet and network with some amazing people in professional
football. In the sport management world, a lot depends on who you know.
Having this course and these teachers on my resume, along with the Sports Career
Conference/NFL Combine experience definitely impressed some people at the
Raiders and helped me get this internship.
SMWW: What advice would you give to someone who wants to get a similar
position in football?
My advice would to get as much training as possible that is relevant and to
take courses like these through SMWW as well as other colleges and universities.
Sport Management is definitely an ever-expanding industry and teams and
corporations are always looking to hire interns.
They tend to prefer to hire people who have some training or experience so look
at SMWW's courses as a chance to get that. Many positions require you to be
willing to work for little or no pay at first. Consider an internship as a
tryout for a job. Become so valuable that the team/corporation cannot afford not
to hire you.
SMWW: Anything else that you would like to say?
Working in Sport Management can be difficult, but it is not at all impossible
for those who make it a priority. You will be faced with adversity, even once
you get in, but that is the nature of the business. Make and maintain as many
contacts in the industry as you can. Don't ever let any one person or obstacle
get in the way of your dreams. Make it apparent to everyone around you that this
is something you are serious about.

Subject: 50th Birthday
To my Angel Network:
Hello my friends, its good to see you again.
The last thing I said to my father before he lapsed into his last nap before
passing was that I would make sure that my sister Laurie would be well taken
care of. I don’t want to make this sound like a Jerry Lewis Telethon, or for
those old enough, “Queen for a Day” – but I am going to ask for your help but
first, for those of you receiving my appeal for the first time, here is a brief
background:
Laurie was diagnosed with a rare form of Epilepsy when she was 10 years old.
My parents, pretty much gave up their lives to care for her in our Littleton
home. Because she suffered Grand Mal seizures time after time, Laurie was never
able to get a drivers license or work. In fact, she spent most of her life in
our house on Washington St. My parents would take her on vacations when she was
well enough. She had numerous surgeries through the years including brain
surgery at Mayo Clinic; removal of a big portion of her stomach because the
dozens of meds she takes ate away at her stomach. She also has had several pins
inserted into bones that have broken due to falls through the years. While she
is not in a wheel chair, she is very unsteady when she walks.
In 2005, my mom passed away of Cancer, leaving my dad to care for Laurie and
himself. We all know that was the worst scenario but it happened. My father
learned to do a lot of things that he had never done before but there was no way
he could adequately care for Laurie or himself the way mom did. There were two
issues that sent my dad into a tailspin: One is that he had a broken heart.
Even though he was left with a mate (Laurie), he wasn’t the same man after the
love of his life passed away. Granted, he was 84 years old, but he had always
been a healthy man. His mind started to go and his body too. He could no
longer care for Laurie and we huddled as to what would happen next. Of course,
she would have to go into an assisted living facility and he agonized over
telling her. That was the second blow. We had lived in the same house since
1958. He had only owned one new car in his life (which my mom promptly backed
into a fire hydrant), and he had purchased one
house. That house they would live in for 48 years.
Laurie took the news of having to leave the only home she had ever known
relatively well, but it was still rough going. She cried for the first few days
she was there and this just destroyed dad. The guilt was tremendous. After
awhile, she settled down. Her new “home” was a house with a caregiver in
Centennial. Almost everybody else was in their 70’s and 80’s; Laurie in her
40’s by now.
Dad kept on trucking, but as I said, he wasn’t the same. Even though he could
still drive short distances and go see her; take her to get her hair done, and
to occasional lunches, it got to the point that he could no longer care for
himself at the family home on Washington. I was able to persuade him to move
into an assisted living facility himself (Libby Bortz in Littleton). While he
was there, I got rid of 48+ years of stuff (an I mean STUFF), sold the house,
and went back and forth between my home in Long Beach, CA and Denver a dozen
times to visit Dad and Laurie.
A few months after dad moved into “Libby Bortz”, his mind and body finally
gave out on him and he passed away in December of 2006. I braced myself for
Laurie’s reaction and the biggest surprise is she took it in stride.
And so here we are today. Laurie is doing quite well in her assisted living
facility in Littleton. I had her moved from the Centennial location to upgrade
her environment and I am very pleased that she is quite happy and “well”.
I love my sister very much but I don’t live in the Denver area. This is very
frustrating for me to not be able to make it out to see her as much as I would
like. Since my father’s passing, she receives no visitors and rarely receives
any mail (except from a very special Angel named Pat). She just LOVES to open
envelopes and read cards… in fact she collects them in shoeboxes she keeps under
the bed.
Laurie turns 50 years old on Wednesday, September 26th.
Here is where I am going to ask you (some of you again) for 2 favors:
1. PLEASE send Laurie a BIRTHDAY CARD to the following address:
Laurie Hawkins
6365 S. Sycamore St.
Littleton, CO 80120
2. PLEASE forward this email to 3 people who are special to YOU with the hope
that they can take the time to send a card as well. It doesn’t matter that
Laurie doesn’t know them. She has never met 99% of my Angel’s, but I want her
to receive many birthday greetings.
I will never be able to take the place of what my mom and dad did for Laurie.
But I got all the breaks and I will spend the rest of my life doing what I can
to make sure she lives a decent life in the memory of a mom and dad that pretty
much gave up their own lives for the care of a daughter.
Thank you so much for reading and PLEASE forward this email on NOW and, send
your card as soon as you get a chance. Even if you don’t HAVE a birthday card
in possession, any card will do. If you are anything like me, you will forget
the second you close this email. J
Love and Peace,
Mark

Subject: WRITTEN BY A KID IN SCHOOL - New Pledge of Allegiance.
New Pledge of Allegiance (TOTALLY AWESOME)
New Pledge of Allegiance!
Since the Pledge of Allegiance
and
The Lord's Prayer
are not allowed in most
public schools anymore
Because the word "God" is mentioned....
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached
NEW School prayer.
I liked it.
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
!
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
If you aren't ashamed to do this,
please pass this on.
Jesus said,
"If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you before my Father."
Not ashamed. Pass this on.

Pastor's Business Card
A new pastor was visiting in the homes of his parishioners. At one house
it seemed obvious that someone was at home, but no answer came to his repeated
knocks at the door.
Therefore, he took out a business card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the
back of it and stuck it in the door.
When the offering was processed the following Sunday, he found that his card
had been returned. Added to it was this cryptic message, "Genesis 3:10."
Reaching for his Bible to check out the citation, he broke up in gales of
laughter. Revelation 3:20 begins "Behold, I stand at the door and knock."
Genesis 3:10 reads, "I heard your voice in the garden and I was afraid for I was
naked."
Remember when the funniest jokes were the clean ones? They still are! "A
cheerful heart is good medicine" (Prov. 17:22) Now, pass it on!

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG,
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,
AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS,
ONE NATION UNDER GOD,
INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY
AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!
KEEP IT LIT!! KEEP IT LIT!
For all of our other military personnel, where ever they may be
Please support all of the troops defending our Country.
And God Bless our Military who are protecting our Country for our freedom.
Thanks to them, and their sacrifices we can celebrate the 4th of July
PLEASE KEEP IT GOING TO YOUR FRIENDS, DON'T LET THE FLAME DIE OUT!
PLEASE KEEP THIS GOING
We must never forget who gets the credit for the freedoms we have, and for
which we should be eternally grateful.
I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..
I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?
How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No, freedom isn't free.
Enjoy Your Freedom & God Bless Our Troops

"America's Email"..today by Arlene DiRocco: SALUTE TO OLD GLORY
July 4, 2007 -- There was a time, not all that long ago, when a few foolish folk
thought they would best demonstrate the freedom the American flag symbolizes
simply by burning the flag itself. But the flag endures.
On July 4, the nation's thoughts traditionally turn to the hopes and virtues
that the Stars and Stripes represent - thoughts that have inspired America's
poets since the Republic's early days. Ralph Waldo Emerson's grandfather,
William Emerson, was a minister in Concord at the start of the Revolution. On
April 19, 1775, he urged the Minutemen to stand their ground near his parsonage,
the "Old Manse." In 1776, he left home to join the troops near Ticonderoga. His
family never saw him again: He died of a fever, caught on the punishing journey.
In memory of his grandfather and the fallen Minutemen, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote
the following verses, sung at the dedication of the Concord Battle Monument on
July 4, 1837. Concord Hymn
by Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
By the rude bridge that arched the flood
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world.
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set today a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
Spirit that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee. Walt Whitman saw firsthand the dreadful
sacrifice young Americans made for the flag in the Civil War: He tended the
wounded on the battlefield and elsewhere until the last military hospital in
Washington closed, long after Lee's surrender. Bathed in War's Perfume
by Walt Whitman (1819-1892)
Bathed in war's perfume - delicate flag!
(Should the days needing armies, needing fleets, come again)
O to hear you call the sailors and the soldiers! flag like a beautiful woman!
O to hear the tramp, tramp, tramp of a million answering men!
O the ships they arm with joy!
O to see you leap and beckon from the tall masts of ships!
O to see you peering down on the sailors of the decks!
Flag like the eyes of women! It is only in recent years that the Stars and
Stripes has been considered appropriate patching material for blue jeans.
Indeed, as the Ohio poet Henry Holcomb Bennett points out, people who failed to
accord the flag the respect it deserved would usually be put sharply in their
place by their fellow citizens. The Flag Goes By
by Henry Holcomb Bennett (1863-1924)
Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,
A flash of color beneath the sky;
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!
Blue and crimson and white it shines
Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines
Hats off!
The colors before us fly;
But more than the flag is passing by:
Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great
Fought to make and to save the State:
Weary marches and sinking ships;
Cheers of victory on dying lips;
Days of plenty and years of peace;
March of a strong land's swift increase;
Equal justice, right and law,
Stately honor and reverend awe;
Sign of a nation, great and strong
Toward her people from foreign wrong:
Pride and glory and honor all
Live in the colors to stand o r fall.

"America's Email"......"Republicans believe EVERY Day is the 4th of
July...Democrats believe EVERY Day is April 15th" - Ronald Reagan ..WELCOME To
"Field of Dreams Today"....Finally back from our Memorial Day break.....I had to
write today..I got the attached email today and just got madder and madder...I
went to the George Allen video and heard him speak today and thought that just
one year ago today he was probably Virginia's Most Popular Elected
Official....Headed towards relection to the Senate and the leading conservative
for the GOP in 2008...Than Jim Webb violated everything he had ever said and
believed and became a democrat....In the course of 5 months he had destroyed
this fine man...State Delegate...Governor and Senator...For what?? What have the
democarts done since they took power?? Blame EVERYTHING on President Bush.....Oh
and yes Nancy Pelosi and her jet and her visit to Syria when the Commander In
Chief asked her NOT to go....Harry Reid has a 19 percent
approval rating...And is a joke as Majority leader...Many of my friends ask me
why I stand with my President?? Well someone has to....This good man - who has
made mistakes - is pounded by just about everyoine.....He didnt ask for 9/11 but
he acted....No attacks in almost 6 years.....Does he get any credit for that? I
know many of my fellow conservatives are mad at him for the new huge
Prescrtiption drug plan...And the No child left behind..And on Immigration
reform...To be honest I not thrilled..But he ran on all 3 along with tax cuts
and faith based programs and strong conservative judges and strong on Pro
Life...Unlike many politicians he has kept his word on these issues...Bill
Clinton said he would NOT raise taxes..And did in his first 6 months...George
Bush does stand for something..My Party does still stand for something..What do
democrats stand for?? Let's think.....That's right POWER...And they destroyed a
good man like George Allen and have done everything
possible to destroy this President...My question to my democrat friends is..I
can sleep at night..Can You????

> Dear Seung-Hui Cho,
>
> I know you're dead, but I have to write to you. I guess that must
> sound silly, really silly. But then, we're hardly in the position
> to discuss irrationality at this point, and you didn't give anyone
> the chance to say anything to you while you were still alive. My
> name is Emily and I am a 30-year-old alumnus of Virginia Tech. I
> graduated in 2000 with an English degree, just as I believe you
> were attempting to ascertain before all of this. I went on to earn
> a Master's degree in Secondary English Education in 2003, and I now
> teach English in a Virginia high school outside of Richmond. You
> killed my student's cousin, Matt Gwaltney. Since April 16th, we
> have discovered two guns in the hands of children in our school. If
> I'm looking for a positive to this, I guess it would be that we
> found the guns before anything as terrible as your efforts
> occurred.
>
> So, here I sit at my computer, four days after you killed 32 people
> and yourself on our campus, writing you, a total [dead] stranger.
> And I'm thinking that you're not really a stranger. Isn't that
> crazy?! I mean, we've never met, we never had a class together, and
> I didn't directly know anyone you hurt or killed. But, the truth is
> that we were both Hokies and we were both English majors and maybe
> we have both been hurt by incidents in our lives. But the
> difference is that I worked through being poorer than my wealthier
> peers by working at coffee shops in Blacksburg through college. I
> just didn't have much of an academic drive in high school, maybe
> you felt that way too with a sister at Princeton.
>
> I remember sitting alone in my apartment in Blacksburg in the fall
> of 1998 wishing I had had the experience of living in a dorm,
> because maybe then I would have friends. But do you know where I
> made friends in a matter of a few weeks after moving to Blacksburg?
> Not in a sorority, not in a Mercedes dealership parking lot, not in
> a jewelry store buying a gold necklace, but in a coffee shop making
> just enough money to pay the rent and buy some groceries.
>
> Death and brutality have a way of leaving a stench about the places
> they hit. Long after a place is cleaned up, long after they carry
> away your carelessness, people are afraid to walk the paths that
> you walked around campus. People are afraid to enter the post
> office you used to deliver your hatred nationally. It's almost like
> we're afraid to walk through some evil cloud you may have left,
> some contagious insanity you may have littered our streets with.
> But do I hate you for it? No. Don't get me wrong; I won't make
> excuses for you. I won't say, "Well, maybe he came from a bad
> home," or "Maybe something happened to him that wounded him so
> deeply," because nothing that happened before April 16th warranted
> what you did. But I won't let your darkness cast a shadow on my
> heart, because I won't let you win.
>
> See, what you don't realize is that your plan failed in so many
> ways. First of all, if your intentions in delivering the package to
> NBC were to explain to us from the grave why you did what you did,
> you didn't. I think I can speak for every Hokie when I say that we
> still don't understand who you were speaking to in the video, who
> your hatred was directed towards, or why you rambled on endlessly
> about your children that you yourself made impossible to have.
> Whatever impression you wanted to leave in our minds, unless it was
> pity and disgust for the dissertation of a madman, it didn't
> happen, Seung. And you ended your life so quickly that you can't
> come back to clarify, you can't answer your audience's questions,
> you can't take responsibility for your "work" if that's what you
> saw it as. You can't even revel in the aftermath of your mess.
>
> Virginia Tech has always had the reputation of being a "good ole
> boy's" school; I guess because we have such a well-known
> agricultural program, or maybe it's all of the cows in the fields
> that surround our campus, but Virginia Tech is a school with a
> fantastic reputation for academic excellence without the
> ostentatious attitude often associated with some of our
> counterparts. Which is why it is so hard to believe that you chose
> Blacksburg as the venue for your jealous tirade! You shot and
> killed people who rode horses, who played in the marching band, or
> who were learning foreign languages. You senselessly murdered
> people that didn't know you, that had no idea why you were angry
> with them, that probably worked jobs or earned scholarships to pay
> for their education because they too were not particularly wealthy.
> And even though I'm grateful that you didn't go to the English Hall
> that day, I realize that you chose Norris Hall and the poor souls
> in it because you were a coward who couldn't kill people you knew.
> You couldn't be Evil in the face of familiarity, and your
> convictions weren't strong enough to let you face the consequences
> of your actions. You were nothing more than a little boy with a
> hand gun, some chains, and a digital camera; a spineless child who
> lost site of the distinct line between reality and a video game,
> between humanity and a Stephen King novel.
>
> So let me tell you what your legacy is, Seung-Hui Cho. Let me tell
> you the ending since you missed it. We are better than before! We
> are stronger, more united, and better known! Show me someone now
> that hasn't heard of Virginia Tech! You brought the President of
> the United States to Blacksburg in a Hokie tie! You gave our school
> national attention, you let everyone know what a Hokie is, what our
> school colors are, what we stand for, and what a beautiful campus
> we have and are so fortunate to call home! Dr. Phil is talking
> about our resiliency on national television! Oprah Winfrey wore
> Hokie colors today! Virginia Tech was mentioned on American Idol! I
> saw people from the other side of the globe praying over candles in
> the shape of a VT. Our athletic
> competitors have sent us flowers, thoughts of love, and signs of
> faith in our ability to overcome all of this (and we will overcome
> this). You even caused UVA to paint their bridge in support of us
> and they're our biggest rivals! Money and well wishes are flooding
> in from all over the world, and people aren't talking about you;
> they're talking about us. You gave us cause to revisit our alma
> mater, to contact our old friends, to proudly boast that we are
> Hokies and that we love our school.
>
> Everyone you killed was given a degree and a first-class one-way
> ticket to a place even more beautiful than Blacksburg; a place
> you'll never know. And no one will remember your name in a year. In
> fact, I have to keep looking at the top of this letter to get your
> name right as I write this. You will be a footnote in the history
> of our success as a university. All you did was emphasize how
> truly alone you are; the very antithesis of your plan occurred. We
> stand together, a Hokie Nation, and you have been written off as a
> maladjusted lunatic who apparently flipped out because you couldn't
> get a girlfriend. What a legacy for your family to have to bear, or
> did you even consider them?
>
> Two days ago I branded myself a Hokie. That is to say I now have a
> tattoo of a little Hokie bird on my foot. Not a sad Hokie bird.
> There's no tear in his eye or black ribbon behind him, because I
> don't want to remember you. I just want to reaffirm my love and
> pride in my school. And last night my husband and I sat up making
> Hokie ribbons for people to wear today, a day determined to be
> HOKIE PRIDE, NATION-WIDE. Today I made VT buttons and key chains
> and sold them for money to donate to the Hokie Spirit foundation,
> and guess what? I sold out! I couldn't be prouder of where we are
> today. So, thanks whatever-your-name-is.
>
>
> I'll leave you with this last thought and then I promise I will
> never speak your name again. As a writer, I'd say you walked off
> stage before it was over. As a critic, I'd say your manifesto is
> incomplete and incoherent. As a teacher, I'd say the lesson you
> tried to teach was irresponsible and immature. As a mother, I'd say
> your actions were impulsive and embarrassing. And finally as a
