soft-money 527 groups amid reports that the groups no longer exclusively benefit

notification laws to aid minors in obtaining an abortion.

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates Tuesday testified the
military needs supplemental funds to pay for the Iraq war by April.

WASHINGTON (UPI) -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Tuesday announced a
"new diplomatic offensive" for Iraq during a Senate Appropriations Committee
hearing.

Poll: 64 percent disapprove of Iraq war
WASHINGTON (UPI) -- A new poll suggests 64 percent of U.S. citizens do not
consider the Iraq war worth fighting and 67 percent disapprove of the
president's handling of it.

Palestine native sentenced to seven years
ROME (UPI) -- The leader of a small mosque in Rome, Ga., has been sentenced to
more than seven years in prison after confessing to aiding the Islamic militant
group Hamas.

Prison officials say Padilla appears OK
MIAMI (UPI) -- Alleged al-Qaida collaborator Jose Padilla is fit for trial,
officials from a military brig testified in a Miami competency hearing Tuesday.
