~ TODAY's Celebrity Birthday...PLAYBOY magazine turns 50....50 years...That
Hefner guy is one busy dude!!..... ~ THE WAY WE WERE...In 1976 The Philadelphia
Phillies moved their Top Class "A" affliate from Rocky Mount,North Carolina to
Peninsula - Hampton,VA...They had been in Peninsula in 70 and 71 winning the
1971 CL title but were asked to leave so that Peninsula could try it's hand at
"AAA" ball...Anyway my mentor BOB NEAL wanted Opening Night to be a huge
celebration....The stadium was sparkling with new paint,banners,new seats and
many other improvements....For opening night he purchased 10,000 candles to give
to every fan...The intention was to have every fan light one or more candles
during the National Anthem...Cool..Huh...Well the
Hampton Fire Marshall got word of this and told us NO WAY ...NOT GONNA
HAPPEN....So those Red...White and Blue candles still sit melting away 27 years
later somewhere in the confines of Peninsula War Memorial Stadium....Maybe we
should have had a candle give away night.... From "Big League Dreams"...... ~
One of our new family members emaied me about my remarks about sending a
Christmas card to "red'....Since some of you do not know the whole "red" saga
let me say this about him in the very nicest way I can......He is the most vial
....lying creep I have ever known...That was as kind as I can put it.... ~
TODAY'S HOLIDAY TIP...Remember no more than 3 sets of lights should be hooked
together...And please use white lights....They are class and grace for your
tree..And if you do use color ligts please avoid those awful green and orange
bulbs..... ~ I am so sick and tired of the ACLU trying to take Christmas out of
every public place....Remember Freedom of Religion...Not Freedom From
Religion...ACLU - Just SHUT UP....... ~ Rounding Third and Heading Home...The
Vocation of Every Man and Woman....Is to Serve Other People....That's the Dec 3
