From "Field of Dreams" .....WELCOME to the Saturday edition of "Field of Dreams
Today"...The "daily" opining of me that sometimes is not so daily...Anyway a BIG
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my good friend...Former room mate...Teammate and White Sox
trainer DAVE WALWORK who is 47 today..Have a great one my friend!!.....Hello to
the wife and Fam! ~ BASEBALL....Some say it is no longer America's favorite
sport....And TV ratings do bear that out. The NFL is a well run ship and an
advertisting machine. Major League Baseball has many problems...Most teams are
losing money....The players and owners still have a real split on many
issues..But through it all Baseball stands the test of time. The playoffs once
again prove that Baseball is still the USA Gold standard.....162 games
from April to October and a playoff that has captured the attention of
Americans....Curses...Goats..Legends...Rituals......What other sport can claim
such a place in our life.....The rich history that goes back so long ago is
still such a part of today's game.....Name a hockey movie or a football movie
that inspires so mnay as a "Field of Dreams" or entertains like a "Bull
Durham"....Baseball cards...Fantasy leagues....road trips....and the fans....Did
anyone really feel bad when the Buffalo Bills lost their 5th Super Bowl several
years ago without a win?? Maybe for a second..But a nation mourns for the long
suffering fans of the Chicago Cubs and will continue to do so until they finally
do make the World Series in 2045.....And who had a dry eye when Kevin Costner
ask his Dad in "Field of Dreams" "Dad you want a catch".....So enjoy the World
Series and remember that BASEBALL is and will ALWAYS be America's Sport..... ~
WORLD SERIES PREDICTION...Yanks in 6..... ~ I spoke to my dear
friend Carolynann Cody on Wednesday and it was good hearing from you my
dear....Rounding Third and Heading Home.....If You Build It....He Will
Come....And for Cubs fans Ease His(Their) Pain...That's the Saturday Field..Sic
