Phils renew Howard at $900K
After exhausting talks, the Phillies renewed the contract of NL MVP Ryan Howard on Friday. He will earn $900,000 this season, which is the largest salary paid to a player with less than two years service time, trumping the $690,000 earned by Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood in 2002.
