I had signed this, but have a thought. I'd have to look at my USAC
rulebook, but I think they eliminated an equivalent number of men's
categories as well. The overwhelming feeling in the NORBA world is
that there are way too many categories and age groups, especially at
events like national championships. The thought is that it lessens
the value of a national championship if there are four categories
(pro, expert, sport, beginner), then genders (only two I know of), and
then age groups (6-12 different age groups per category and gender).
It turns into 120 or so national champions or something like that.
Then again, maybe they could add even more categories. I can think of
a few:
beginner women 40-44 with pink streamers
sport women 35-39 on yello bike
junior boy 12-13 with scraped knee
