Here’s the buzz around town:  Mayor Leon Heagle has been notified that the Village of Parish will be receiving $600,000+ stimulus money for the sewer renovation work and the  2010 Relay for Life of Parish may be moving to the second weekend of June.

Mark  and Tammy  Baum of Parish and Marilyn Wood, formerly of Parish spent a recent weekend in Gettysburg, PA.  Stephanie Baum of Sterling, VA joined them one afternoon for lunch and some sightseeing.

Mary Lou Guindon and daughters, Tia, Nicole and Kayla; Ralph and Joyce Vesey and grandson, Curt Maynes and great granddaughter Kendra Ermini traveled to Little Falls to the home of Ken and Sherry Miller and sons- Dustin and Kevin on Saturday, June 27.  They attended Kevin’s graduation ceremony at Little Falls High School and enjoyed a celebration party in his honor back at the house.  Kudos Kevin, we are so proud of you.

The committee chairs and directors of the Relay for Life of Parish met on Monday evening, June 29 at the APW High School.  The final meeting began with delicious ice cream sundaes, followed by discussion of each committee-the positives and negatives (if any) and ended with appreciation gift and bags for all.  It was reported that the final totals for the 2009 will be just over $42,000.  As soon as the date for 2010 is approved, we will get the word out to you. It will be awesome if the date is actually moved to the second weekend of June, alleviating the conflicts with the Sherburne  competitions and the APW Alumni Banquet.  The 2010 Relay for Life website will be up in Sept. and we can not stress enough to begin your fund-raising plans now and get started, so there is no crunch time as June 2010 starts to close in on you.  Thank you to all of you who make this possible!!

The APW Alumni Banquet planning committee gathered at the Grist Mill Restaurant recently to discuss the 2009 dinner and to make plans for next year’s, June 5 banquet.  The tasks for the 2010 celebration were distributed between those present: Lori Behling, Mary Lou Guindon, Sharon House, Evelyn Stelmashuck and Sharon White.  The theme for next year will be “the 60’s” in honor to the 50th class of 1960.  All are encouraged to dress up in that era and have some fun.

Parish Summer Recreation program begins at the Parish Elementary School on Monday, July 6, This fun and educational program will run through August 21 Monday - Friday from  8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.   There will be a free breakfast and lunch provided by the APW Food Service.  There will be a cut off date for registrations this year, get your child signed up by Friday, July 10.  Call  Sue Lamb at 625-4473.

The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church will host a Community Blood Drive at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street on Saturday, July 18 from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m.   To schedule an appointment call 625-4575 or email guindfam@....

To make this column interesting and informative, we need to hear from you, email information to guindfam@... or call 625-4575.

Blessings and Peace be with you,
