I would like to extend “get well blessings” to Darlene Cook, Gretchen Sayer and Bertha Weaver.

Monday, April 20th the planning board will hold a public workshop—“Visioning Session” in the Mills & Petrie Mem’l Gym, 2938 East Main Street from 6:30 – 8 p.m.   Join us—to identify the hopes the community has for its future.

The Friends at the Parish Public Library is a dedicated group of community volunteers who meet the first Thursday of the months of February through June and September through December, at the Parish Public Library.  The purpose of the “Friends” is to help to promote knowledge of the function, resources, services and needs of the Library to the community, as well as supporting the Library to the community, as well as supporting the Library through fund raising.  The “Friends” are seeking new members and would welcome anyone from 9th grade high school level through adulthood.  The next meeting is May 7th at 6:30 PM.

The Parish Senior Dining and Activity Center started the week out with a “Grandparent’s Tea” on Monday.  Many of those gathered embedded trinkets of all sorts into molds of cement creating garden stepping stones together.  The next day the guests painted terracotta pots using their own creativity and stencils.  Now they are all set for the tomato plants that were started weeks ago.  Did you hear the singing coming from the center on Thursday?  Marion Popp was leading and playing the keyboard with the singing of many ol’ favorites.  They all look forward to the next sing-a-long.

It’s official...the Parish Town Board appointed our amazing Sue Lamb to return as the director of the Parish Summer Recreation for the third consecutive year and she will also serve as the Parish Recreation Coordinator for six months.  Thank you Sue and the Parish Town Board.

Kelly and Lenora Bradshaw of Parish, along with Kenneth and Dawn Bundy of Pulaski would like to announce the arrival of their new grandson.  Kenneth Grant Bundy was born on March 30, 2009  in Los Angeles California to their son Michael Bundy and his wife, Allison.  Kenneth Grant weighed in at 6lbs. and is  20" long.    Michael is a 1991 graduate of APW and a graduate of SUNY Oswego.  Congratulations!!

The Parish United Methodist Women will hold their Annual Rummage and Bake Sale at the Parish United Methodist Church 418 South Railroad Street on Saturday, April 25th.  The hours will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Please stop by.  They always have a varied selection of clothing, household items, books, toys, and much more.  Don't forget the delicious homemade baked goods.

The women of the church will be setting up for the sale on Friday, April 24 starting at noon. If anyone needs their items picked up, just call Elaine Updyke or Icy Fitzgerald.

Save the date of May 2!  The Right Step Dance Relay for Life team will host their annual Relay for Life Chicken BBQ at the Parish Fire Station from noon until sold out.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society through the Parish Relay for Life on June 5-6.  Dinners will include ½ chicken, baked beans, salt potatoes, macaroni salad, and a roll.   There will be raffles, 50/50’s and a bake sale.  Pre-sale tickets are $8 and they will be $10 per dinner at the door.  AND I have some tickets so email Mary Lou at guindfam@... or call 625-4575.  I could use some sponsors as well.  “GRIN”

The Town and Village of Parish will hold the annual “Spring Clean Up” on Saturday, May 16 from 7:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Parish Town Barn on Dill Pickle Alley.
