Cynthia Stanton called on Edna Dean (formerly of Altmar) at Rose Wood Heights, Syracuse enjoying a pleasant afternoon on Friday, January 30.

The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church members and friends are just filled with thanks for the successful American Red Cross Blood Drive held on Saturday, January 31 in memory of Kayley and Rayel Sabine.  After nearly five years, since they left us to dance with Jesus, their spirit is very much alive in Parish.

We are thankful for... more than sixty people took time out of their busy lives.  Even when Parish had received more than a foot of snow over night, there was shoveling to be done at home, it was chilly and people had to wait, but you did not hear them complaining.  They were there for all the same reason to remember the Sabine girls and to save lives.

We are thankful for... Lisa Sabine coming late (Fred needed to clean out the driveway) with fresh baked treats.  The daughter of a couple they had met in NYC (during the many trips to NYC hospital with the twins), had been in serious need of lungs.  Sat. morning it became a reality, they called in excitement and Lisa was home to receive that call.

We are thankful for... the men that came from Oswego and of further distance, although there were blood drives closer, because this one was for a good cause!

We are thankful for...  the many first time donors!

We are thankful for... the Collins brothers, who had recently returned from Afghanistan, but were unable to donate until one year from their return to the United States.  Thank you!

We are thankful for...Crystal Adams, Jackie Murphy, Lisa Sabine, Girl Scouts: Kelsie Wilson, Becky Trexler, Nicole and Kayla Guindon and Boy Scout: Zack Maurer  for their time serving at the canteen station.

We are thankful for... the American Red Cross staff for keeping things running smoothly and efficiently.

We are thankful for... the staff member that helped get tables.

We are thankful for...  the staff member that brought out more double red donor kits.

We are thankful for...  Chris Hoffman for securing the third double red machine and staff.

We are thankful for...  all the donors that used the double red procedure.

We are thankful for... the Village of Parish allowing us to use the facility.

We are thankful for... the Mayor Leon Heagle so promptly coming to turn up the heat when requested.

We are thankful for... the town of Parish Highway Superintendent clearing the snow away before we arrived.

We are thankful for... Dunkin Donuts for their generous, generous donations of coffee.

We are thankful for... the many that wanted to donate, but were not able give this time or not able to get there for their appointment.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Sixty-four successful units of blood, enough to save 192 lives—all in memory of the Sabine twins, Kayley and Rayel.  Happy Birthday girls!

Congratulations to Sue Phillips, she won the $50 Grist Mill gift card.

Donald Town (APW class of 1978) and his wife Nancy (Lints) class of 1984 recently purchased the historical Braddock Point lighthouse on Lake Ontario in Hilton NY   www.braddockpointlighhouse.com  They own Town Manor Bed and Breakfast in Central Florida and were looking for an opportunity to connect back with upstate NY.  Their fascination with lighthouses were rewarded with the opportunity to purchase an actual working lighthouse built in 1896. They are in the process of furnishing and decorating this treasure and intend on using it as a summer home. They are also looking to have friends and family from the Parish area join them and sharing the history and provenance of this magnificent building.

Gary and Evelyn Stelmashuck and their children Cartwright and Aubryn, along with Steve Stelmashuck recently had a family Christmas with Tony and Kathy Pisula and their children in Shortsville, NY.
