Don and Dabby Harter of Lexington, Massachusetts, spent Christmas at the home of Lori (Harter) Colby in Bolton , Massachusetts .  Lori and Herb prepared a delicious brunch of ham, eggs, homemade hash, juice, coffee, and homemade Scandinavian coffee cake made by Herb Colby. The family members included Lori,  Herb, children Will and Avery; Nancy Harter, Jack Whitaker, and children Jordan and Preston ;Courtney Harter, John Daly, and one year old daughter Eleanor Dodd Daly. On January 4th, Don and Dabby enjoyed a belated Christmas with daughter Kimberly (Harter) Morton, son-in-law Mike Morton, and newest grandchild Liam Wells Scott Morton, age 51/2 Mos. Don and Dabby are looking forward to a healthy, happy 2009.

Just a little side note to Christmas... Bill Laney.. (if its the one that graduated with me in 1978)  I remember that in grade school/middle school he sang Oh Holy Night during our Christmas programs.. I loved his voice!  So now, even to this day, when I hear that song, I think of him.  I wonder if he still sings.... BTW.. Happy Birthday Bill!

Jeanette Maynes along with Curt and Kendra entertained family for a delicious Christmas dinner.   Those attending Ken, Sherri, Dustin and Kevin Miller; Bernie, Mary Lou (Miller) Guindon and daughters Tia, Nicole and Kayla; Bill and Matt Presley. 

Marilyn Wood of Harrisburg PA spent Christmas with her parents, Carl and Jean Wood of Warner Robins , GA , former residents of Parish.  On Dec 30, they drove to Myrtle Beach SC to spend a few days with Joan and Chuck Benjamin.  Marilyn, Carl and Jean met Carl and Kathy Wood in Columbia , SC on Jan 3 so that Carl and Jean could return to Georgia and Marilyn traveled back to Pennsylvania .
     Stephanie Baum, daughter of Mark and Tammy Baum and Granddaughter of Carl and Jean Wood has been transferred from Grand Junction , Colorado to the Washington-Dulles area.  Stephanie is a flight attendant for Mesa Airlines.

The Houghton family went to the Olive Garden on Saturday night, Jan. 3 to celebrate someone's birthday.  On Sunday, Jan. 4 Mary Hougton went to Cracker Barrel with her Aunt Ceil.  A nice weekend with someone else doing the cooking! The Houghtons had a wonderful dinner at Krista and Bill Alsworth's house with a cake that was made in a microwave and homemade ice cream.  In attendance were Doug and Mary Houghton, Krista, Bill, Katie and Will Alsworth, Erin and  Scot Badger, and Jamie Houghton.  Lot 's of good memories at the Alsworth house as well as the Olive Garden. 

The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church will be hosting a Parish Community Blood Drive in memory of the Sabine twins, Kayley and Rayel on Sat. Jan. 31 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium 2938 East Main Street, Parish.  

 Dunkin Donuts is giving out a pound of coffee to each donor.  

Donate and you get one entry, bring a friend to donate you get two entries (plus they will have one entry of their own), be a first time donor and you get three entries in the drawing for a $50 gift card redeemable at the Grist Mill Restaurant.  How many “donor friends” can you recruit?  Call 625-4575 to schedule an appointment.

The Girl Scouts began their  cookie sales on Friday, January 9.  Watch out for the door to door sellers and all this snow.  There will be booth sales locally February 14 – March 22.  These delicious cookies remain at $3.50 per box.
