Wylde, Tennie L.
April 3, 2008 Tennie L. (Rochester) Wylde, 60, of 59 Hurlbut Rd., Mexico, NY, passed away Tuesday at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. Born in Swansea, South Carolina, Tennie lived in the Parish and Mexico, NY area for the last 40 years. Previously employed as an LPN at the VA Hospital in Watertown, NY, Tennie had lived in Mexico, NY with daughter and son-in-law, April and Jay Andrews and family since 1996. She will forever be remembered as a nurturing, generous, kind, person who devoted her life to taking care of family and others, always speaking the best of people. Her cooking skills were legendary in her home, and her most famous quotes were "are you staying for dinner", or "would you like something to eat?" In years past, Tennie was an active member of the American Legion, Russell Horning Post 601 in Parish, NY; and the Mexico Baptist Church. Tennie was also known for her strength and courage, and fought a courageous battle against lung disease and recently, MDS (Leukemia). On April 3, 2000, Tennie took part in an experimental Lung transplant at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. The transplant added several years to her life expectancy, and she made the most of those years. Tennie took many vacations with her family in the last several years, including a Disney Cruise, trips to Florida and Disney World, Lake George, NY, Canandaigua, NY, Canada, and others. Tennie's family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of her healthcare service workers and friends locally, in Boston, and in Syracuse for the great care that she had received, as well as the staff at University Hospital for their assistance and compassion in her last days. Tennie was very loved, and is survived by daughters, April (Jay) Andrews, Pamela Wylde and fiance', Jeffrey O'Brien; son, Andy Vincent (Annette Zerrillo); and five grandchildren, Lacey, Chelsea, and John Andrews, Alicia Vincent, and Merrick O'Brien. Nobody loved her grandchildren more than Tennie. She is also survived by sisters, Elizabeth Martin, Barbara Ann Weathers, Debbie Reed, Olivia Almond, and brothers, Paul Rochester Jr., Glen H. Rochester, George M. Weathers Jr., Shawn Weathers, and Wayne Weathers, all of South Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul Rochester and Nellie Gertrude Nicewander Weathers; and husband, Arthur Wylde in 1995. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Harter Funeral Home, Mexico, NY. Spring burial will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 9 Washington Ave., Mexico, NY.

Blessings and Peace be with you,
