On March 15, Parish Community Recreation held a special 3 on 3 Tournament open to youth thirteen years and younger.   First place team was the “Dunkin’ Donuts” (Colton and Barron Correll and Thomas Canfield); second place was “C-Da Ballers” (Chris Steel, Art Brown and Dylan Werts) and third place “P-Town Mafia” (Jarid Paninski, Jimmer and Josh Harvey).   Fourteen youths entered the “Free Throw Shoot” Competition sponsored by Field Properties, Inc.  Dylan Werts took first with 36 hoops, Samantha Field came in second with 30 and the third place was shared by Jarid Paninski and Thomas Canfield.  Special thanks to Ken and Hope Field for the $200 prize money, $50 was raised for the Grass Roots “Save the Gym” restoration fund.
The CMC Dance Company competed the weekend of March 28 in Access Broadway.  Tiffani Teller of Parish a member of the tap group 9-12 year olds took top honors with 1st place  out of the fourteen studios. CMC Dance Company of Cicero  took 2nd place overall for best studio. Tiffani’s mom and dad would like to say congratulations to the entire CMC Dance Competition Team for all there hard work and a special shout out to Tiffani Teller, Alexis Davis, Collin O’Rourke, Amanda Leski, Haley Stuart, Rachel Lingenfelter, Jamie Lema, Julia Woods, Emma Rufuse, Talor Gilberti, and Shelby Sherwood for the great job they did on their tap routine “ROCK THIS TOWN” and wish everyone on the CMC Dance Team good luck on there future competitions and Nationals in July in Mystic CT.   Congrats everyone.
The Parish Town Historical Society welcomes Kay Perham as a guest speaker at the April 9 meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium.  Kay will read from her writings on Women Pioneers and One Room School Houses.  The public is encouraged to attend.
Right Step Dance Studio Relay for Life teams 1 and 2 will host a Chicken BBQ fund-raiser at the Parish Fire Station, 16 Union Street on April 12 beginning at noon until sold out.  Pre-sale dinners are $8 and $10 at the door.  Get your tickets from dancers today!!  Everyone has been touched by cancer in one way or another, please help fight back!
Come join a “nutty” good time at Family Movie Night on Sunday, April 13 at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street.  The doors will open at 6 p.m. for games, crafts and a coloring contest.  Enjoy rec’s new big screen (donated by Dan Dalin), with the showing of   Alvin and the Chipmunks at 7 p.m.  For only $2, you will receive one can of soda (or juice) and a bottomless bag of popcorn.  One dollar of every $2 donation will be contributed to the Grass Roots “Save the Gym” restoration fund.
The Oswego County Health Department has scheduled a rabies clinic on Wednesday, April 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the County Highway Garage on Dill Pickle Alley, Parish.  All dogs, cats and pet ferrets are required by state law to have current rabies shots. Animals may receive their first rabies vaccine at age three months. The first shot protects the animal from rabies for one year. Subsequent shots last for three years. Pet owners should bring their pet's last rabies certificate to the clinic.   The health department suggests a $5 donation per animal to help cover the cost of the rabies clinics, but no one will be turned away.
The Parish United Methodist Women (PMUW) are having their Annual Rummage and Bake Sale on Saturday, April 19th at the church at 418 South Railroad Street. The hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They will be offering a fine selection of clothing, dishes. books, toys, shoes, jewelry, household items and much more !!!!  There is always a delicious array of homemade baked goods available for purchase too.
 The PMUW  will be setting up on Friday afternoon and evening on April 18th.  Mark your calendars and plan  to attend.  We thank you in advance for your donations and for volunteering to help.
  The first ever in Parish, Northern Oswego County American Cancer Society’s "Relay For Life of Parish" will take place on  June 6, 2008.  That is something huge, something to get excited about many of us have been touched by cancer in some way and now we can fight back locally.  "Together we can make a Difference!"  The next committee meeting will be on Monday, April 21st – 6 p.m. at the APW Middle School cafeteria.  A Team Captain Meeting will follow at 7pm.  So go ahead and start raising funds, get involved and fight back!  As always - Celebrate!  Remember!  Fight Back! 
The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church is the local drop off point for Oswego County for the Church World Service Kits. The hours for dropping off your CWS kits at the church (814 Rider Street) April 21-25 will be from 10-10:30 a.m. and 4- 4:30 p.m.  The  CWS provides School Kits, Hygiene Kits, Baby Kits, and Emergency Clean-up Buckets. The contents of each Kit have been selected with care based on years of experience to make them as useful as possible, wherever and whenever they are sent.  CWS Kits make a world of difference in the lives of refugees, displaced people, and victims of natural disasters.
Parish Community Recreation will host another three on three tournament on Friday, April 25 at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street immediately following open basketball (10 p.m.)   This is only for ages 14 to 18 years of age with parental permission.  Stop by the gym for a registration form or visit http://www.parishcommunityrec.com.
The APWCSD Universal Prekindergarten will hold informational meetings at the elementary schools:   Parish on April 28, in Altmar on April 29 and Williamstown on April 30 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
