The proud grandparents and father; Richard and Barb Horning and son George drove out to Great Lakes, IL for Justin Horning’s Navy basic graduation ceremony.  There were 991 graduating.  The ceremony was most impressive, especially the flag ceremony with every state represented.  Justin will be attending school to be a machinist maid in Great Lakes, IL.
Ten members and friends of the Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church’s Youth Group: Julie, Elizabeth and Tim Raner, Alex McAdam,  Kelly Murphy, Morgan Sobotka, Tia, Nicole, Kayla and Mary Lou Guindon visited the Oswego Planetarium after dining at Pizza Hut on Sunday, November 12.
On the second Tuesday of each month a group of friends that were all in the same neighborhood at one time meet for lunch.  There were seven joining this month:  Marge Petersen, Barb Horning, Sharon Robbins, Arlene Trevett, June Boyer, Kay Perham and Carol Ann Horning.
The 2008 Parish Town Historical Society calendars are now printed!  There is a limited quantity.   The historic keepsakes are available for $7 each at the Parish Public Library during regular business hours (M 12-3 and 7-9; W 12-5; Th 7-9 and Sat 12-5).   They will also be offered at the tree lighting festivities on Dec. 1.
 If you did not have an opportunity to view Edna Dean’s “One Woman Art Show” and have heard so much about it; don’t fret you will have an opportunity.  Call Mary Lou at 625-4575 to set up an appointment.  The beautiful watercolors are available for purchase for only $35 each.   Edna will sign if it is not already and will write on the back where the scene is from in her world travels.
A minicon in Parish!  A one day anime event coming to the Parish Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street, Parish, NY   13131  from 9:30 AM to 5 PM on the 24th  of November 2007.  Contact info:  glisscompany@... or look for the mincon website link at  www.parishcommunityrec.com.
Saturday, December 1 – community evening in Parish
The Parish United Methodist Church will host their annual “all you can eat” family style Chicken and Biscuit  dinner with home made pies for dessert at the Parish Fire Station, 16 Union Street beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Sat. Dec. 1.  Take outs will be available.   Adults $7; Seniors $6; children 6-11 $3.50 and under five years of age free.  For more information contact Susanne Heagle at 625-7254.
The Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce and Parish Recreation will offer the popular tree lighting-Christmas Caroling and festivities on Saturday, Dec. 1 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Veteran Memorial Park.  After the caroling family and friends will gather at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium for hot chocolate, donuts, cookie decorating, creating ornaments, crafts and games.  There will be local crafters and organizations selling gift giving items.  The hit themed basket raffles will be back; chances will be 3 for a dollar or 20 for $5
 The Parish Volunteer Fire Company will host another delicious “All You Can Eat” Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, December 9 at their station on 16 Union Street from 8 a.m. until noon.  The wide variety includes: pancakes, waffles, sausage gravy, biscuits, home fries, eggs, sausage, bacon, coffee and juice.  Adults $6; Seniors $5.50; Child under 12 $4.50, and Family $20.  Show your support to our local volunteer heroes.
Join your friends (Parish 50+ Club) taking a bus trip to the Turning Stone Xmas Show with “Tony Pace” on Thursday, December 13.  For more information and to make reservations contact Sharon at 625-7409.  Remember, you don’t have to be fifty, just ask Sharon!
Save the Gym—Grassroots Project--  is over the $3000 mark, and still reaching for their goal of $74,000.  Raffle tickets for $1 each are selling for the Christmas raffle.  ---  First prize:  2 SU basketball tickets for the SU v St. John’s game on Jan. 2, , 2008 (excellent seats); an SU bench; an “ulu” knife, a home crocheted afghan SU sweatshirt and a 2 mug tea set.  Second prize: 2 SU basketball tickets for the SU v St. John’s game on Jan. 2, 2008 (excellent seats), an “Ulu” knife and a SU sweatshirt. Third prize:  an “Ulu” knife and an SU hat.   
The raffle items were generously donated by Melanie Gray Warrow, Brent Petrie, Karen Oakes, Joan Fruscello and Christa Harvey all of or formerly of Parish.  The drawing for the lottery tickets will be on Sat. Oct. 27 and the “SU” themed raffle will be drawn on Dec. 15, 2007. 
The $1 raffle tickets and the $2 paperweight rocks with the image of the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium will be available for purchase at the Tree lighting activities on Dec. 1.
