The Parish Town Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, June 13 meeting at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium where members will bring in historic items for "show and tell" along with guest Gary McConnell and the treasures he has uncovered while renovating his home. Next month, Parish native, Leah Houghton will make a presentation on her career in the Chemistry Department of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), as a Research Associate on Thursday, July 26 at 7pm.
Debbie "Burke" Ellingham, formerly of Parish, flew to Long Island on Friday May 25 to help celebrate with her brother, Dave Burke's daughter, Dr. Jessica Burke, graduation from college with doctorate in Physical Therapy. A fun time was had by all, including other family member, brother Jimmy, his wife Donna and their son Shawn. There were many other family and friends to help celebrate this wonderful occasion. Debbie flew home to Melrose , FL on Tuesday May 29.
Great news! The APW Educational Foundation has received a notification letter that the IRS has determined that the APWEF is exempt from Federal income tax under 501(c).
Fred Wikberg (Olson) a former foreign exchange student of the Smith family of Voorhees Road recently spent a few days with Margaret Smith of Syracuse . Fred was in the United States on a business
trip, Fred enjoyed visiting old acquaintances that he had spent time with back in the 80’s.
Gretchen Sayer visited with Virginia Miller, Bill Larrabee and Bertha Wood at St. Lukes Health Services of Oswego on Wed., June 6.
Awesome news for recreation in Parish this summer. The APW Youth Soccer Club will be happening during the
summer months of July and August on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Merrill Town Park in Parish. The sign ups will take place along with the registrations for the Parish Summer Recreation program on Wed. June 13 from 7- 8 p.m. and. on Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. - noon at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium. The summer recreation program will be from Thursday, July 5 through Friday, August 17 for seven year olds (six year olds entering 2nd grade in the fall) and up to the age of fourteen. The APW Youth Club will be for 5 to 18 year olds. Both programs
are virtually free. Come and find out more. It is sure to be an amazing summer of fun and adventure for the area youth.
