Mary and Doug visited Harold and Barbara Houghton in Forestport on Sunday April 29 and had a very lovely day catching up with the news and playing cards. The guys won 2 to 1, maybe it should be contested.
Erin Houghton organized a clean up in recognition of Earth Day. Earth day has past, but it should be thought about each day. Erin would like to thank the people that showed up to beautify a part of Parish: Michelle Garrett, Courtney Cefaratti, and Jaklyn Fisher. Together they filled over ten garbage bags and twenty grocery bags of garbage on one stretch of Rt. 26. (from the intersection
of Rt. 69 and to Smokey Hollow Rd ). They stopped at the Grist Mill and manager Chuck provided additional garbage bags. Thank you Chuck. Erin mentioned, “It was also encouraging when people waved, beeped, and stopped to tell us how nice the roads looked.” Michelle and Courtney each found $5 bills - lucky. Erin returned many bottles that alone added up to more than what they found. All of this effort only took two hours. Let’s all join in this endeavor! Parents be a good role model, encourage your children not to litter and to pick up garbage when they see it. If they don't pick it up
- someone else will have to- every little cup, wrapper, etc. it all add up to 10 garbage bags full! It's just easier when everyone pitches in to take care of our earth and town. Take a walk in front of your house and see what good you can do. Erin plans to do this again in the near future - probably on May 20th. Let’s surprise her, and show her how proud we are of our community of Parish.
It is that time of year, when our neighbors return home (full of color) from their winter in warmer climate. Welcome back! Joyce and Ralph Vesey arrived home, just in time to welcome their daughter Evelyn Bellinger for a visit from Colorado for a few days.
