11 AM: Pleasant Lawn Cemetery is where many of Parish’s ancestors have come to peaceful rest. The Parish Town Historical Society will host a cemetery walk in Pleasant Lawn’s oldest section as part of the Fall Festival events.
Cemetery walks are becoming more popular as a way of honoring the contributions and lives of people who were a part of the Community in the
Past.
Visitors will walk back in time, encountering various interpreters in period costume and demeanor among the gravestones. They will tell about their lives and roles in the area’s history. Several of the Parish Historical Society members have agreed to portray the lives of some of the deceased buried there. Who will depict the Revolutionary drummer boy, Timothy Ryder?
The guided walk will be led by historian, Bridget Swartz. The chapel is likely to be open for viewing.
1- 4 PM at Merrill Park APW Winter Guard will be selling BBQ chicken and coffee packets at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium.
1 PM costume parade beginning at Parish Fire Station ending at Merrill Park. The three most impressive floats will receive $50, $25 and $10 prize money; there will be goodie bags for all participants in costume up to the age of
16. At the park there will be various activities for children immediately following the parade until 4 PM. The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church will be grilling up hotdogs. Plans are being made for an inflatable bouncing amusement, hayrides, pumpkin hunt on the nature trail, crafts, and games. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Some of you may remember Rev. Halse (ret.) from when he served in the Parish Methodist Church in the 1950’s, for four years when he was fresh out of seminary.
Frank, and his wife, Joyce now live in Mexico , NY. They have been married for over 50 years and have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Their oldest daughter, Laurie Halse Anderson Larrabee, is an author of children’s and young adult books. Her latest book - “Twisted”.
The Parish Faith Church of the Nazarene announces its annual "Trunk or Treat" Families are invited to attend, Saturday, October 28th from 4-7 PM. There will be games and treats from 4 to 6 PM and a bonfire, food and fellowship. From 6 to 7 PM. If you want, come in a fun costume! Be prepared to get some great treats!
