Jim and Connie Sayer Shovlin took Chet and Gretchen Sayer out to lunch in Rome last week. 
John and Jackie Clarke, formerly of Parish, of South Daytona, FL will be in the Parish area for about a month.  You may contact Tina Clarke Baxter for their where-a-bouts.
Jason Nadeau and Nicole Bush will be getting married Saturday October 14, at the United Methodist Church.
Thyme For You Beauty and Tanning Salon has moved to 2944 E Main St in Parish. The former home of the , Talk of The Town Diner/Yankee Trader. We are located in the back of the building. The phone number is still the same.625-7747. Thyme For You has also welcomed (stylist)

October 14—Fall Festival:   
9AM – 4 PM (open @ 8AM for set up) Craft/Flea Market at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium.  $5 per table Come one, come all, treasures, treasures galore. Call 625-7138 ask for Nancy or leave message.
11 AM:  Pleasant Lawn Cemetery is where many of Parish’s ancestors have come to peaceful rest.  The Parish Town Historical  Society will host a cemetery walk in Pleasant Lawn’s oldest section as part of the Fall Festival events.  
Cemetery walks are becoming more popular as a way of honoring the contributions and lives of people who were a part of the Community in the Past.
Visitors will walk back in time, encountering various interpreters in period costume and demeanor among the gravestones.  They will tell about their lives and roles in the area’s history.  Several of the Parish Historical Society members have agreed to portray the lives of some of the deceased buried there.  Who will depict the Revolutionary drummer boy, Timothy Ryder? 
The guided walk  will be led by  historian, Bridget Swartz.  The chapel is likely to be open for viewing.
1- 4 PM at Merrill Park  APW  Winter Guard  will be selling BBQ chicken and coffee packets at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium.
1 PM costume parade beginning at Parish Fire Station ending at Merrill Park.  The three most impressive floats will receive $50, $25 and $10 prize money; there will be goodie bags for all participants in costume up to the age of
16.
At the park there will be various activities for children immediately following the parade until 4 PM.  The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church will be grilling up hotdogs.  Plans are being made for an inflatable bouncing amusement, hayrides, pumpkin hunt on the nature trail, crafts, and games.  Fun, Fun, Fun!

Monday, Oct. 16, at 7 pm with the kick-off sermon by Rev. Dr. Susan Alloway (what an HONOR to be asked!!), Pastor of the Parish-Hastings Pres. Church.  Dr. Alloway's topic will be "Anger."  The revival meetings will be held at the Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 204 South Ave., Syracuse.  For more info call Dr. Alloway at 655-3035.
Tuesdays 4:30- 6 PM Beginner Hatha Yoga “beginner postures” 6 clases/$40  Oct. 17 – Nov. 28, with no class on Oct. 31 at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street in Parish.  Class size is limited, call Claudia Jarvis Ginn to register at 427-2153.  You must wear stretchy, comfortable clothing and bring a mat and a light weight blanket is optional.
A local poet, Writer and Lecturer, Frank Halse, Jr. will be reading  selections from his  poetry writings on Tuesday, Oct. 17 beginning at 7 PM at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street, Parish, NY  The admission is free, for more information call 625-7130.
Some of you may remember Rev. Halse (ret.) from when he served in the Parish Methodist Church in the 1950’s, for four years when he was fresh out of seminary.
Frank, and his wife, Joyce now live in Mexico, NY.  They have been married for over 50 years and have two daughters and seven  grandchildren.  Their oldest daughter, Laurie Halse Anderson Larrabee, is an author of children’s and young adult books.  Her latest book - “Twisted”.
The Parish Faith Church of the Nazarene announces its annual "Trunk or Treat" Families are invited to attend, Saturday, October 28th from 4-7 PM. There will be games and treats from 4 to 6 PM and a bonfire, food and fellowship.  From 6 to 7 PM.  If you want, come in a fun costume!  Be prepared to get some great treats!  There will be face painting and lots of excellent games to play!  Hope to see you there!
Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church’s Red Cross blood drive  8 a.m. – 1 p.m.  on October 28 at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium, 2938 East Main Street.  Call 625-4575 to make an appointment, walk-ins are welcome. 
On Saturday, October 28, Parish Community Recreation will host  Family Movie night 5 p.m. -  Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie (G); 6:15 PM-Hocus Pocus (PG) and at 8 PM, An American Haunting (PG-13)  $2—can of soda and bottomless bag of popcorn (movie is free)
October 31—Halloween Dance hosted by APW winter guard 5-8 PM $5 admission.  Today’s music hits,  Halloween tunes and some oldies but goodies.  A  costume dance, candy and prizes for best costume.  Refreshments available for purchase.  Call 561-6436 cell or 625-4610
