The Parish Public Library will soon become automated!  They have received a $6,000 grant from the John Ben Snow Foundation to pay for the initial start-up costs of automation.  The North Country Library System will provide automation training, expertise, equipment, and upgrades to the SIRSI system.  This process will begin this fall and will be completed once each item in the library has been bar-coded and added to the shared database and all patrons have been added to the database and provided with a new bar-coded library card.  The process takes approximately one year.
Bridget Swartz, Library Director  is looking forward to  the benefits this new tool will provide the many patrons of the Parish Public Library and assures the implementation will be seamless with no inconveniences to the users of the Library.
Arreta Ware and son, Reginald, flew to West Palm Beach last Saturday,
to pick up Gloria’s car and drive
it back to Parish.  Arreta’s sister, Gloria,  is
unable to drive now.   Reginald stayed with Doctor Brian and family and
Arreta stayed with Gloria.  While there, Arreta went to the Senior Center with
Gloria and played Bingo- no win of course.  Arreta and Gloria had a quiet
time just visiting and enjoying the quiet together.  Reginald was busy getting
the car ready for the trip home on Tuesday.  They arrived back in Parish on
Wednesday night.  Tired but glad to be back safe and sound.  Lloyd said
the didn’t like living alone and after being married to Arreta for 50 years he
 missed her.  Nice!

The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian church welcomed Clement Kuek, the president and founder of Sudanese Youth Development Action (SYDA) and Santino G. Atak, secretary of SYDA on World Communion Sunday, Oct 1 during their morning worship service.  SYDA is a non profit organization,  founded in 2005 by group of lost boys of Sudan who live in Central New York. These young men are both one of the “Lost Boys” of  Sudan, and were willing to share their experiences to raise awareness of the situation in Sudan. The longest Civil War in the world has caused nearly 2 million lives and leaves everyone in dangerous life. Their dream is to raise enough funds to build a School/Community Center and a Health Clinic in southern Sudan.   For more information or to make a donation you may contact Clement Kuek at 218-6992.
