Michael Young, son of Mike and Debbie (Rozonkiewiecz) Young of Cameron, NC, recently returned from Charleston , SC. Michael and the rest of his cub scout friends spent the night on the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. While there Michael visited Fort Sumter and learned about the
civil war as well as touring the harbor. His Pack raised money to charter a bus, so the boys were treated to movies along the way down. Morgan Sobotka, Kelly Murphy, Tia, Nicole, Kayla, Mason and Mary Lou Guindon trekked to High Braes Refuge on Wednesday, August 29 camping overnight. Most of their time was spent hiking at the Braes. On the return trip to Parish, the group stopped to “letterbox” in Redfield/Little America.
Evelyn Stelmashuck and her children, Cartwright and Aubryn, along with Nathan
Graham, Margaret Smith, and her brother Stephen Stelmashuck traveled to Shortsville on Thursday, August 31. While Evelyn visited with her brother, Tony Pisula and his wife Kathy; the rest of the crew spent the day at Seabreeze. Evelyn also took the opportunity to visit with Jennie Welc, Kathy’s aunt, in a nursing home. Jennie will be celebrating 91 years next month. Everyone enjoyed pizza and wings before heading back to Parish. They stopped at the outlet mall in Waterloo on the trip as well.

Parish area Girl Scouts of Central New York will have sign ups on Monday, September 11 at Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. For more information contact Parish area coordinator Julie Schmeling at 963-8267. The Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls. It provides girls ages 5-17 with a wide variety of opportunities and activities available in Girl Scout handbooks, award books, the Girls Only and STUDIO 2B Web sites, and other program resources. Miss Jamie of Right Step Dance Studio will have sign ups for dance lessons on Wednesday September 13 from 6 to 8 PM at in the gymnasium at the Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium at 2938 East Main Street The classes being offered this year will be jazz, tap and ballet for ages 2 years and up on Wednesday and Thursday evenings
at Mills and Petrie Memorial Gymnasium. For more information call Miss Jamie at 402-2504.The third annual Goods and Service Auction will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at noon at the Parish United Methodist Church . Last year there were 185 items or services offered and they hope this year’s event will be even more successful. To donate items, please call Susanne Heagle at 625-7524. Your donation will be greatly appreciated. All items will be posted on www.parishumc.com prior to the auction. Those attending the past two years have had a fun time and left with some great bargains. So SAVE September 16th—viewing and registration is at 11 AM and the auction will begin at 12 noon. There will be refreshments available. Visual Technologies will host a benefit for Kevin Pelow a 1972 APW graduate, and Joe Ardizzone on Sept. 24 from 1 – 5 PM in the Convention Center at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Parkway , Liverpool . The $20 admission will include food and entertainment, a silent auction, 50/50 drawing, and raffles.

The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church will be grilling up hotdogs, hamburgers and sausage from 10 AM- 1 PM.The Parish-Hastings Presbyterian Church is still collecting empty inkjet cartridges from Hewlett Packard, Lexmark, Compaq, Canon and Apple.
