Re: [Paradise_Dive_Club] Yukon trip, Hendry's dive/BBQ

If you are looking for feedback; I'd love to dive the Yukon but you scheduled it for a weekend I cannot go. Nobody asked me.

We have so far not succeeded in filling all the spots for our June 24 trip to dive the Yukon (and other wrecks) in San Diego.
Based on expressed interest, the club chartered the entire boat, but our number of paid divers is far fewer than expected. This means we are going to lose money, money that comes out of our membership dues and that we'd much rather spend on club BBQs and other fun activities!

This is actually part of a more general trend we've seen recently, with declining levels of participation in club events, from night dives to weekend get-togethers to our annual (?) island camping trip. In order for our club to thrive, we need you to be involved--whether through attending events, serving on the board, or giving us your feedback on what we're doing that works or doesn't work. It is hard for the club to keep planning activities if we can't count on at least a dozen or so people to show up.

But back to the Yukon trip... if you're interested, this trip is a great bargain ($50 for members, $60 for non-members) and a chance to dive something different from our usual local sites. You can sign up and pay this Sunday at our dive and BBQ get-together at Hendry's Beach (meet at 10 to dive and noon for BBQ, with potluck side dishes) or contact Mark Silva at 453-2001 or redemptiondiver@....

An important correction for those who go: according to the Lois Ann's Web site, BOAT DEPARTURE TIME IS 7:30AM. Required boarding time is half an hour before, at 7AM. In the May newsletter, I incorrectly had 7:30AM as the boarding time. Don't be late & miss the boat, make sure to allow plenty of time to be on board by 7AM. (It's also a very short ride to the dive site, so once aboard you'll want to start gearing up right away.)

Directions and more details are on the Lois Ann's Web site, http://www.loisann.com. You can contact me or Steve Trainoff if you need hotel or other info.

So come on in, the water's fine!

I would go on the Yukon trip, but I will be in Bonaire that entire week. I do not expect any sympathy. Michael Ring...

Stacey, I'd love to go, but I committed to this #%@*! Ironman event in Idaho. By all reasoning I should be going to do this trip. Oh well, see ya tomorrow. ...
