I have been working on a couple upcoming PDC events. The first is a Kayak tour in Morro Bay on Saturday March 1. The plan is to do a guided tour with Central Coast Outdoors. We will do their "Dinner on the Dunes" trip which is described below. Since the tour starts at 2:45 pm on Saturday, you can drive up that morning. I will coordinate the finances. If you are planning to go, please email me ASAP. I also ask people to bring a $15 deposit (or the whole $79 payment) to the next PDC meeting.
The second event is a dive on Platform Grace on March 29 on the Truth. The club has reserved 11 spots on the Truth and will be offering the trip for the reduced of $110/pp. For those who haven't done a rig dive, it is a very interesting environment. They are in deep water and as marine oasis'; they literally covered with life. They also attract big schools of fish and sea lions. The only caveat is that this should be considered an advanced dive. Platform Grace sits in 340 ft of water so it should not be attempted by anyone who has problems with buoyancy control. The platform has a series of reinforcement struts every 33 feet so it is a lot like diving on a giant jungle gym. Again, if you are interested in this dive, email me and bring payment to the next meeting.

Hi Steve,From: "John Flaherty" <jfflahe@...>Date: February 19, 2008 4:07:11 PM PSTTo: "'Steven Trainoff Ph.D.'" <strainoff@...>Subject: RE: Interested in Kayak tour on Saturday March 1.
Dinner on the Dunes is a great group trip and I do think it would work
better for your timing. We have changed the trip a little from what is
posted on the website - I just haven't had the chance to update it yet. The
main difference is that we start a bit later and spend a little less time on
the water. The reason is that winds can be pretty strong in the early to mid
afternoon and we are trying to avoid launching at the windiest part of the
day. For March 1 we would probably do 2:45 pm meeting time. I'll attach a
revised itinerary. It might be a bit cooler this time of year on the dunes
after the sun goes down, but if people dress appropriately I don't think it
will be an issue.
With the 20% group discount the rate is $79 per person. A deposit of $15 per
person is required to reserve the space. You can always guess on numbers
right now and get a final count to me about one week prior with no
penalties.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
There are no refunds for leaving a trip early or for not using any of the
services that are part of the trip. If you have to cancel a trip for any
reason (except for bad weather on the day of the trip - see below), the
following refund schedule applies:
Days prior to trip start Cancellation fee per person
8+ days None
4-7 days $15
0-3 days Full cost of trip
Cancellation Policy Due to Bad Weather (Rain or High Wind)
If the weather is bad on the day of your kayak trip, you have three choices.
First, continuing with the planned activities (perhaps with alternate
activities worked in). Second, transfer with no additional fees to a trip in
the future. Third, cancel entirely with a $15 per person cancellation fee.
We always wait until the day of the trip to make this decision because
weather forecasts are not always 100% accurate. On kayak trips, if the
weather is so bad that we think going out would be a safety issue, we will
cancel the trip with a full refund. If you are concerned about the weather
on the day of your trip, please call our office at 888-873-5610.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you want to book the tour or have
other questions.
Cheers,
JOHN

All our kayak tours are in Morro Bay, so itwouldbe a bit of a drive for you, but certainly worth it.Your group would get a 20% discount off any of our regular tourrates, or wecan set up a custom tour for you as well. I'll attach informationfor ourmost popular tour - the Morro Bay Half Day Classic Tour.We don't have a specific discount program for people bringing theirownkayaks - but we might be able to work something out.I look forward to hearing back from you.
Hi John,
Thanks for getting back to me. I looked at the trips on your web page
and I think your "Dinner on the Dunes" trip would work out best. That
way people could drive up in the morning and then spend Saturday night
in a hotel. I expect about 15 people, but I will get an exact number
as the date approaches. Do you need a deposit?
