The Paradise Dive Club (PDC) is hosting an underwater pumpkin carving contest at Goleta Beach on Saturday Oct 27.  You are all invited.  We will have the dive at 10:00am and a picnic/BBQ at noon.   PDC will supply the coals and BBQ meat.  Everyone who comes should bring a side dish to share.  Home-cooked food is much preferred to bags of Cheetos.  

The rules are simple.   Come to the beach with your dive gear, dive knife, and pumpkin.  You can cut the top off and clean the inside of the pumpkin before entering the water, but all of the carving must be done underwater with your dive knife during a single dive.  Only materials found in the water can be used to decorate your creation.  Remember, pumpkins float underwater so it is a good idea to put a dive weight or a rock inside your pumpkin to keep it from floating away.  Afterwards, we will ask unbiased beachcombers to help judges the entries.   Entries will be judged based on artistic merit and originality.
