Welcome to the Pacific Northwest Fechtschule.

Modeled after the 16th Century Universities such as the "Marxbruder". This is a forum for the discussion, education, exchange of ideas & interpretation of the Historical Manuals of all the European Martial Arts, with the main focus being between 1480 through 1610. The transition of the sword & its use as well as its common name during this time changed not only from country to country,(German, Italian, Spanish, English, Ottoman, Scottish) but from noble to middle class to peasants. There was also the Military aspects & techniques versus the Dueling styles taught by the Masters, (such as.... Meyer, Lebkommer, Sutor, Talhoffer, Sainct Didier, Thibault, Silver, Di Grassi, Viggiani, Morozzo, Agrippa, Pagano, Fabris, Capo Ferro, Carranza) of the time. Some of the open topics for discussion are Swordmanship, Dueling, Rapier Play, Dusack & Katsbalger, stage combat, to name just a few. The focus will be to exchange info, ideas, links, rare finds, outlooks, on the historical texts.

Moderated by "Hans Yosef's Historical Germanic School of Fence & WaffenKunst" A division of the H.M.R.S. and the PNW Branch of the "Der Ritterliche Fechtshule".

There will also be a variety of links for costumes, museums, historical re-enactment groups, Living History events, SCA, Renaissance Fairs,and vendors of historical accouterment and research.
