Hi Folks, Annie Betts here. I'm the editor of the Ride & Tie
Newsletter and also a PNER member. You may have seen me, and my hairy
husband, at the PNER convention. He is, if you didn't guess, the one
with the beard and long hair who sat at the table handing out tootsie
pops and mints. He's the president of the Ride & Tie Association and
I managed to fall into the job of newsletter editor.

I'm putting together the next newsletter to go out in May. I have some
questions for people who travel distances with their horses. I'm
planning on putting the answers I get into an article for the
newsletter. If you have the time to answer them please do! If you
know something else I should be asking, tell me! If you would like me
to use your name when giving the replies, give me your full name.
Otherwise I will refer to you as: 'a traveller from the Pacific
Northwest' or 'an endurance rider from Oregon' (if you tell me where!)
or something vague like that. If you would like to see the article
when I'm done, let me know and I'll post it in this group or email you
a copy.
WHEN TRAVELING WITH YOUR HORSE:
1. How often do you stop and do you take the horse out of the trailer?
2. Where do you stop and for how long?
3. Do you give your horse electrolytes or any other treatment before or
during travel?
4. Where do you spend the night if it takes more than one day to get
to your destination?
5. Do you use a portable paddock? Which type works best for you?
6. If not a portable paddock, how do you contain your horses on your
journey or overnight at the ride?
7. Is there anything else I should have asked that I didn't?
Thanks a bunch! The R&T website has just started a forum for
conversation like those here on Yahoo, but it isn't working well yet,
and I wanted to get some fresh input from other folks. We'll be having
our 35th Ride & Tie World Championship in July in Libby Montana! We'd
love to have some of you endurance riders who sometimes get off your
horse and walk or run with them join us. If you are interested or just
curious, go to the website mentioned above.
Thank you!
