Today in USA, we are all honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Just like Dr. King, we have our own dream too. I hope, someday, we have our own table tennis center. We can play, train and have tourney in our own center. I know it may very difficult to achieve, but it is not an impossible dream either. If we work harder to get the fund from Chinese and Taiwan government plus  personal donation, may be we can do it.

Thanks for Coach Russ Hamilton who forwarded the following email. You need to go to the following website to see a dream ping-pong center, it is our role-model.

Please also go to  http://www.butterflyonline.com/2009/09ACN.asp to see our club member Andrew Chen (12 years old) news on Butterfly website. Most of club member probably didn't know Andrew is the youngest table tennis player sponsored by Butterfly. He already can make money for his family.

Please don't think the skill is the only criteria for ButterFly to make its selection. You also need to have great personality and sportsmanship. Of course Andrew has one big advantage which he could beat up all of his competitors for the sponsorship - he is extremely cute. According to ButterFly's most recent survey, the merchandise promoted by Andrew was sold extremely well by teenage girls. Wow, we have a teenage girl killer in our club..

Hi, Members;

Let us welcome Coach Lee McCool, he was relocated from Atlanta Georgea. Caoch
Lee has been in Plano for several months. But, he decided to settle down in
Plano just recently.

Please review the attached Coach Lee's bio, he got very impressive
qualifications.Actually, lots of our members have already known Coach Lee very
well. Last month, when I was in USATT National tourney at Las Vegas,I saw
severalof Coach Lee's students won the National titles. So, Coach Lee got very
solid credentials as being a coach.

We already have several excellent coaches in Plano, with Coach Lee, wejust have
an even stronger coach group to help us. How lucky we are !!

If you or your kids are interested in improving your ping-pong skill, please
feel free to callCoach Lee at678-634-1771.Don't worry, he has very pleasant

Many new members probably don't know our club's mission is beyond just playing
ping-pong. We have a much bigger scope, our friendship and fun is not only
limited tothe ping-pong table. As a member,we try to help each other in
manydifferent ways.For example,if a member's company has a job opening, he
will notify me to post the job for whole club. For a job seeker, you have a much
betterchance to get the job thruinternal lead instead of any job.com.

Now, I just got a job lead from ourmember. His company is looking for an IT
professional, the skill requirements are .Net and Microsoft BizTalk. Please
keep in mind, this company is only looking for "VERY HEAVY" technical experience
candidate. This company is located in Irving with very stable financial
condition, they need to fill up this position ASAP.If any member or his friends
got good qualifications, please send in your resume to me quickly -

As for my role, I am only responsible forwarding the resume. After you send in
the resume, the company will contact you if they are interested in your
skills.Sorry, I am not in any position todo thefollow up or supplymore

Since the economy and job market are so bad now, we need to circle the wagons to
fight the adversary environment together. Please don't under estimate the
people's power. We have very solid proven records, several members already found
their jobs thru our club.Besides, I canoffer the resume service. Since I

Hi All,

TM Center has been opened for table tennis now for over a year. The
issue with playing at the Center has always been the lighting in the
gym on Sunday. I am please to announce that the City has made a great
effort to correct this problem. Solar screens has been installed to
all the windows and glass doors. The lighting in the gym has improved
dramatically. I was there this past Sunday and I noticed that the
direct sunlight from the windows has been reduced by almost 100%. The
playing condition is a great improvement. So, if you have not been to
TM Center to play because of the poor lighting. Now you should try it.
We appreciate the City's effort in working with our club to resolve
the lighting issue.
The other issue at TM center is that I ask all of you to try to play
on the challenge tables and not on the 20 minute tables. If you should
happened to be on the 20 minute table. You need to keep in mind that
these are for non challenge player. Whenever someone that are not
serious ping pong players such as families and kids come in to play.
You need to give up the table for them. Otherwise, all the challenge
tables will be occupied by non challenge players. After a year at TM
Center. I think you all should know the rules by now. I would like not
to be the police of the gym every week and I hope you all can police
yourselves and if you see someone on the challege table that are not
playing challege. You can explain the rules to them and ask if they
can switch to the 20 minute table. Please be curtious to those that
are not as serious about ping pong as you are.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. See you all there !!

Hi, Members;

Thanks to our member - Georffrey Hsu who spent lots of his personal time to organize the petition for PISD. This petition is to request PISD to setup ping-pong as an official off-campus sport program. So, our kid's ping-pong training hours can be counted PISD PE credit and give your kids more free times.

This is just a petition, you have NO OBLIGATION to participate this pgm at all. May be your kids doesn't need this pgm, but lots of other kids still need your support to get the approval from PISD.

Right now, even rock climbing was already accepted by PISD as off-campus sport. It is a shame, we already have several USATT national table tennis champions in PISD, but the table tennis is still not off-campus sport. This petition is long overdue, please go to

Please take the action now.  Thanks fro your help..

Jon,

For students 7th grade or higher who do off-campus PE have extra time in school or can leave school earlier to attend classes. The extra period they could use for electives, take AP classes or finish up home work in library. It will make a big difference in schedules and credit classes.

Currently activities of SWIMMING, TENNIS, BALLET, ICE HOCKEY, ICE SKATING, GYMNASTICS, EQUESTRIAN, ART SKATING, MARTIAL ARTS, FENCING, TRACK CYCLING, LACROSSE, ROCK CLIMBING AND MIDDLE SCHOOL GOLF will be considered.

Table Tennis is a sport that we most familiar with. Most of the sports in the list above could not relate to our life style. Most Asian kid could do swimming. Why not give them one more choice that they could have good opportunities to be successful.

Thanks for the help

Note fore PE credits....
High School and Senior High School students participating in either category may receive a maximum of one half credit per semester. One and a half credits of physical education are required to graduate. A total of two credits of physical education may be earned toward state high school graduation requirements. If a student has previously earned a maximum of two credits of physical education toward high school graduation, he/she may still enroll in the Plano ISD Off-Campus Physical Education Program but receive NO CREDIT toward state high school graduation requirements.

Hi, Members;

After I reviewed the petition list, we got lots of supporter from out side of Plano city. We even got several signed on people from foreign country. But, there is one thing which bothers me very much, I didn't see many die-hard members on the list. I don't know why.

You guys always complain to me that the table tennis is not a main stream sports in USA. Now, there is a good opportunity for you to raise your voice, but you choose to keep silent ?  I am very sure the table tennis will be approved by PISD anyway. But, we should do better than that.  We need to let PISD knows there is a big group of ping-pong lovers in Plano.

Even you are not living in Plano or your kid is not with PISD, you still can sign on to show your support for the table tennis. Please go to  http://www.thepetit ionsite.com/ 1/table-tennis- list-in-pisd- off-campus- sport-program to sign in your name.

Subject: The DFW Biggest Table Tennis Tourney Will be Held at The Best Recreation Center
waejon
Send Email Send Email

Hi, members, please mark down this very important date “May 2nd” on your
calendar. It is our 2009 World Peace TT Tournament date. The location will be at
the Plano’s flagship Recreation Center – Tom Muehlenbeck Center
(TMC).

Most of you already know WP tourney very well. But, lots of out of town members
still don’t know anything about TMC. It is the newest recreation center and
also the crown jewels of Plano Park Dept. Please review the attached article. It
is from a magazine called “Texas Construction”. This magazine is for the
construction industry in Texas. They have selected a dozen of buildings in Texas
in 2008 as the Best in Texas. TMC is published as one of them.

But, the most uniqueness about TMC is not its superior design, luxury
facilities, Texas size gym and swimming pools, or friendly staff. It is the
neighborhood participation with the TMC design team which made the TMC as an
outstanding community center. During TMC early design stage, Plano city held
many public meetings and invited many local residents and civic groups to
provide the direct input to mold this center. It is nice to know that our club
was mentioned in the attached article as one of the groups that contributed to
the success of this building.

I am very proud that I could represent for our club, I worked with TMC design
team to develop this building for the table tennis sports. The original plan was
to put the ping-pong table in the multi-purpose room. After I told the design
team members, a defense ping-pong player could return the ball as 15 feet or
even higher. The construction engineers were shocked and admitted they
couldn’t raise the celling to that height. So, we agreed the table needed to
put in the gym instead of the multi-purpose room. The design member also asked
me about the size of a folding table in order to design the space for a storage
room. Besides the tables, I suggested we also needed to consider the space for
barriers. The design team enlarged the storage room a lot. So, we don’t  need
to worry about any storage issue today.

I know many members who are living in a customer house, so it is not a big deal.
But, any players who ever played in a gym which is customer designed for the
table tennis ?  This is only possible happened in Plano. So, you got
to register with World Peace to see it.

Since it is still a little early for WP, I will send out the tourney entry form
later. But at this point, I would like to ask you to mark down this magic date
“May 2nd”.  I am very sure we will have wonderful time in such a a
wonderful building.

Thanks a lot..

Please review the attached 2009 Spring World Peace Table Tennis Tournament (WP)
entry form. This tourney will be held at Tom Muelehback Center on 05-02 (Sat.).

As I mentioned in prev email, Tom Muelehback Center was selected as one of the
best building in Texas. There are many table tennis tourneys in DFW area,
besides the award building, WP is definitely different from others.

In the first place, we have the best quality and quantity players which can
offer the best and tough fights for your pleasure.  I have been with many USATT
sanctioned tourneys, you play with the same players again and again, it is kind
of boring.  In our club, we have a bunch of members who have never played with
any tourneys except the WP. So, if you want to have good fights against the
players with diversified skills, then you got to register with us.

The second, our club is tied very closely with local ping-pong community. We are
a non-profit organization, all workers are non-paid volunteers. Our club donated
the training robot, ping-pong tables, barriers and many other item to the
recreation centers. For the barriers alone, we bought the top line product, it
costed our club more than $1000. So, if you support to the WP tourney, then it
means you support to our ping-pong community DIRECTRLY.

The registration is very simple, you can turn in the entry form to Cliff, James,
Will or me in the recreation center. Or, you can mail it to the address on the
entry form. We have many new members, may be you don’t know your rating, or
you don’t know who to turn-in the form. It is very easy, the only thing you
need to do is to ask around in the recreation center. It only takes us 2 minutes
to tell your rating.  Our club is like a big family, we all share our fun and
love with table tennis together.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me email. Thanks..

Hi, Members;

Last time when I sent out the World Peace (WP) entry form, I forgot to put a topic on my email. So, lots of members didn't get it. Very sorry, I re-send the entry form again now.

Most members wait until the last few days to send in the entry form, it puts lots of stress on James who is our club's Treasurer. James is just like any of our club's volunteers, he got a very busy office job and family to support. We are all together like a big ping-pong family, do we want to put the cruel burden to our brother member ? Of course NOT. It is only 2 weeks away from our WP registration deadline, please register ASAP.

Thanks to Tom Muehlenbeck Center (TMC). Over the past 4 months, we added 40+ new members to our email list. Wow, that is lots of players. Somehow, new member are still not comfortable with the WP tournament. We are a community club, WP is a community tourney. We are in here to promote the ping-pong sport instead of to timid you.

We setup a full scale of events to meet any skill level players. Tourney is not necessary only for skilled players.
Yes, we practice a lot in the recreation center. But, in a tourney, it is a totally different world. Your opponents play more seriously, your mental stage, your strategy and your analytical skill are all more important than your ping-pong skills. You never can not call yourself a solder if you have never been in a battle field.

The most important thing, WP is not only a tourney, it is a carnival too. You can watch the top notch DFW players to compete fiercely just in front of you. You don't need to worry about your lunch or snack. We worked very closely with TMC, they will supply very delicious food and drinks which is much better than the lousy food in normal tourney, You can meet old friends or chat with new member friends. Anyway, we will have very good time on 05-02 WP tourney.

During WP opening ceremony, Plano Mayor will be our honorable guest and she will give a welcome speech. So, your participation in WP is very critical, it can send a direct and strong message to Plano city top management team. That is we have a big ping-pong population in Plano, we can not be ignored and we demand more resources for table tennis.

Don't forget to either mail in or tuen in your entry form to Cliff, James, Will or me in the recreation centers.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT !!

Hi, Members;

Tonight in Plano City Hall, Mayor Pat Evans awarded the Special Recognition to several Plano table tennis players and coaches for their outstanding achievements in 2008 USATT National tourney.

USATT (USA Table Tennis) held its "National Tournament" on Dec. 2008. USATT  is the highest govern organization for the table tennis sport  in USA For every table tennis player in US, he or she is always dreaming to win a USATT trophy, because it represents the most honorable and prestigious trophy you can get in USA.

We have the following 6 players who got the award from Mayor:

1. Tom Feng (11 years old), he won the following national champion titles:  A. First place in U2300 (under 2300 rating point event).  B.  First place in U2200.  C. First place in U 13 years old.  D. First Place in U4200 Double. A young kid could won 4 national titles in just one tourney. Wow, what an amazing achievement !!  Normally, I don't call this cute boy "Tom Feng".  Instead, I would like to call him "Tornado Feng".  Because he can kill his opponent just like the Texas tornado, his skill is so mercilessly and so deadly.

2. Andrew Chen (12 years old), he won the second place in under 13 years event. Andrew will be a good candidate for the national cadet team this year. Andrew got the sponsor from the table tennis No.1 vendor - "Butterfly".  He is the youngest player to promote the Butterfly products. No wonder his Daddy could buy a luxury new house recently, because Andrew is contributing to his family now.

3. Max Bu (10 years old) who won the first place in U1400 event. There were 90 players in this U1400 group and most of them are adults. Max was the only player who could win ALL elimination games and advanced all  way to the top.

4. Eddie Young (10 years old) won the third place in under 11 years event. Since last April, Eddie gained 400+ rating points in one year. You can see how rapidly our kid can improve his skill.

5.  Judy Chen (15 years) won the third place in U1700.  Judy is from a strong ping-pong family. If USATT organizes a family team event, then Judy's family definitely will win the national champion. Combined with her father and sister, Chen's family total rating is 5500+.

6.  Joy Li ( 9 years) won the third place in girl under 10 years old. Joy is a very pretty girl who can play the table tennis with the most elegant style and precise forms. The world figure ice skating queen - Peggy Fleming was dancing on the ice, Joy is dancing around the ping-pong table. What a beautiful combinations with the sports and art.

Without professional coaching, our kids can not perform so well. So, Coaches - Russ Hamilton, Sara Fu and Lee McCool also got the Special Recognition awards from Plano city. Coach Wang and Li Shan already got the award previously. Congratulations to those players, coaches and parents, they are well deserved.

For many new members, please don't feel too bad if you were beaten by a young kid in the recreation center. Because, he or she may be the national champion. Please review the attached pics carefully, those kids are "The most unwanted players".  If you are unfortunately to play with one of them in WP tourney, then you know you got a very bad day.

We are so lucky that we have so many ping-pong lovers in Plano. In order to have more fun, let us get together to have good fights in World Peace TT tourney. Please turn in the entry form and we will have big fun on 05-02.

Thanks..

Jon

Hi, Members;

Finally, the most exciting moment is almostaround the corner. But, to compete
the table tennis game is onlya small part ofWorld Peace tourney. The major
fun part comesfrom wecan get together as one big family to sharemany things.

The funstarts on 05-01 (Friday) night, we will rally together at the Tom
Muehlenbeck Center around 8:45 PM to setup the ping-pong tables and many
othertourney facilities. I know you have been with many TT tourneys before.
But,WP is the only onethatrequests you to bepart of the tourney. This is a
typical team builder project for our club.We prepared 1000+ Ft barriers to
build an "Indoor Great Wall" for WP tourney. We will work together and have fun
together.

But, the most important date ison 05-02 WP tourney. Please don't get a wrong
idea that it is only for the skilled players. WPisa festival, it is also a
community event, it is opening for everybody. The Plano Mayor Pat Evens will be
our guest. The Dallas Morning News, the Plano Network TV station andthe No.1
Chinese newspaper - World Journal all will send out their reporters and camera
crews to our WP tourney.

This is a very high visible event. If we want to showthe public thatping-pong
is a serious sports, then, please bring your family and your friends

the opening ceremony, we will entertain you withthe DFW toprankingplayers

Very sorry to bother you one more time:

1. Please pay more attention to your own WP event schedule. The event
schedulewill be flowing very dynamically, you need to constantly check with the
command center for your next game.If you fail to show up on the table to play
your game, sorry, we can not wait forlong. We may needto default your game.

2. To eat your lunch inside the TMC building is highly recommend. Because TMC
will be very crowd and you will have trouble to find a parking space. Besdies,
there is only one McDonald fast food restaurantnear by. Our lunch box is fresh,
warm and tasty. Forpitiful $5, you can have a very nutritious lunch to supply
the energy you need. The only drawback is if you lose your afternoon game, then
you can not blame the result on yourlunch, it got to do with your skill.
Besides lunchbox, TMCalso offers quality food with reasonable price. I have
been with many tournaments which included the USATT in Las Vegas, Their food is
expensive and taste very lousy. If we dare to say we are the number one tourney
in DFW area, our food is number one too. If you need to order the lunchbox,
pleasesend me email ASAP.

3. Please don't eat or drink inside the gym. TMC keeps their hawk eyes to watch
and protectthe wood floor very seriously. I know it is inconvenient, but we
need to follow the rules.

4. Some people is worry about the swine flu, I am very glad that WP is held in
this week. If WP is heldon next week or later, then we may need to cancel our
tourney.This week is fine.

4. The most important thing, have a good sleep on Friday night.

Please polish your weapons, I will see you all in the battle field.

Hi, Members;

Yesterday, more than 100 players engaged the DFW biggest ping-pong tourney at
Tom Muehelenbeck  Center (TMC). Players started to check-in at 8:30 AM and we
finished the last game at 8:30 PM. Wow, what a wonderful 12 hours gentleman
fight for the ping-pong lovers.

As previous WP, Mayor Pat Evans gave us an opening speech and we started the
tourney right away. At the late afternoon, we had very heavy thunder storm
outside. But the indoor fighting was even more fiercely than the
outside.

The folliwngs are the game results:
Open:  Shuai W, Sheng Ye (both were QD coaches), Andrew C.
U2300: Thiru K, Andrew C, Derrick M.
U2000: Larry S, Mahin R, Tim W.
U1800: Kam M, Mohammed A, Brandon C.
U1700: James S, Qian An, Sajeel.
U1500: Han V, Sajeel, Ying F.
U1300: Jeffery Z, Azad A, Vivian L.
U1000; Phil House, Chris Kuhue, Austin L.
U700:   Tianming Xie, Chris Abbot, Johnathan, Li.
Senior: Shichiao Fang, Phil House, Frances M.

Congratulations to those trophy winners, I know it is not easy to win a
trophy. Especially, we have more than 30 players in each groups such as U1500
and U1700. You need to go thru many elimination games to reach to the top.

Everybody knows American Airline has a famous "Frequent Flyer" program. As for
our club, we also have our own "Frequent Trophyer" program. If you are the
champion of an event, or you won the second or third places twice in the same
event, then you need to register with the higher event on next WP tourney. The
purpose of this automatically upgrade program is to lay down a fair battleground
for all players. Besides, we would like to force our player to setup a higher
challenge on himself and also give more encouragement for the new players.

Our 2009 WP registration started lower than last year. Yes, we did lost lots
of the registrations from the old members,it worried me very much at the
beginning. Luckily, we got very strong support from the Tom Muehelenbeck
Recreation Center new members. I think we reach our club's mission perfectly
over the past years, we promote the ping-pong sports and create a huge
ping-pong population in Plano.

Thanks to all volunteers, without your help, we can not organize such successful
tourney. I also need to thank all players, without your support, we can not
have such fun event.

Jon,
Many people have been asking me why I played the World Peace
Tournament this weekend with a hardbat paddle. Although it is a ton of
fun and atribute to classic Ping Pong there is another reason that I would
like
to share with the table tennis community.

I have been practicing hardbat part time for the past few months in
preparation for the Bud Light Hardbat National Championship Open. I
played
in a local bar tournament 3 weeks ago to advance to the Dallas
Championsip this past week. I won the Dallas Championship and later
beat the Denton Champion in order to qualify to represent this market
in the Bud Light Open National Championship in Las Vegas in late
June. The event will be televised and the winner will take home $100k.

The odds of my winning are not good given that most of the best
players in the country will be there. But the way I see it I got a
free vacation to vegas to do what I love and a chance at $100k.(what
more can a any table tennis player ask for really!) With a hardbat
anything can happen and my chances are better than winning the lottery.
:-) Anyone who currently plays hardbat or pips out style I would be
especially interested in practicing with you. Feel free to email me at
j.russ.hamilton@... to set up a time.

Sincerely,

Russ

Hi, Members;

Please review the attached letter from PISD. Thanks to our member - Geoffrey Hsu. He puts lots of effort, so PISD approved the table tennis as an official Off-Campus PE. It means if a student spends 10 hrs/wk in ping-pong training, then he can get a waiver for PE in Plano school. This 10 hrs include both the training under a coach and the practicing hrs in Plano Recreation Center. if you are interested, please send the email to Geoffrey Hsu -  GHsu@...  Since we already told PISD that lots of students will be interested in this program, we need your participation.

For those WP winners, please pay more attention to the local Chinese newspaper. You may find your name is published on the newspaper.  Since our club has never pay any advertisement money to the newspaper, I need to put extra effort to get the WP news to be published. Nothing is easy is these days.

Thanks..
