Pingpong fellow,
This afternoon, we played group A and group B round robbin. Here are
the rating update for all players.
Group A
Jack 1911 1885
Will 1872 1884
Jessie 1776 1781
Giann Garcai 1825 1815
Kam Mak 1800 1836
Dennis 1700 1681

Group B
Vivi 1576 1556
Jun 1687 1712
Larry_2nd 1600 1631
Cliff Wang 1655 1634
James Trinh 1680 1667

Winners of each group are Will and Jun.

Highlight:
3 of 4 signed people showed up for group A. Since there are enough
empty table left, I called another 3 people, Jack, Jessie, and
Dennis. So 6 people played group A on 2 tables. The first 2 games
were between Kam/Giann and Jessei/Dennis. Giann still had slow warm
up problem, Kam did not have too much trouble to win a 3:0 match. The
game between Jessie and Dennis were furious, Jessie played very
aggressively and the effort payed off, he got the first game. From
the second game, Dennis woke up and fought back. They played a 5 game
match and 10:10 on the 5th game. After saved couple of match point,
Jessie won the 5th game with 16:14. Surpises in group A are that Kam
and Giann beat Jack with 3:1. Nobody is invincible in group A. The
winner is determined by calculating how many games he won.
For group B, Larry played shake handed, this gave Jun a huge
advantage. However, after losing first game, Larry managed to recover
and played better and better, beat all other 3 people. I resigned him
a new rating. Cliff did not play with too much enthusiasm due to his
leg injury. Even so, he gave James enough headache although Jame got
3:2 win. These 2 guys are just too familar with each other. James can
smash on Cliff's long pinp return and Cliff is waiting right there
and smash back.Surpris in group B is Jun beat Vivi. According to
Vivi, she always "beats" Jun when they play at home and I think she
is telling the truth.Let's all pray for Jun tonight.

Next round robbin is scheduled on 03/17/2007. Please send me an mail
to reserve a seat. If there are no enough people, we will find
someone in the club then.

Regards,
Will

Subject: Questions and Answers about Round Robbin.
wei_tian_2000
Send Email Send Email

Last week, Jessie and I had a converation. I think he mentioned some
questions that all of you may have. I summarized them and make a list.

Q: Why round robbin instead of free play?
A: During formal match, the skill level difference between players
shrinks dramatically. Training level and competition level in
pingpong can be very different in table tennis. I believe you all
have seen someone that plays really nice but lost to some low level
player in formal game. Also, some people have slow warm up problem,
this is also because of playing too less formal competition.

Q: Why do I need to sign up for Round Robbin?
A: Actually, you do not have to. Signing up is just to reserve a seat
for yourself. If there is not enough people, most likely, I will call
someone to play. Just like last Saturday, only 3 people showed up for
group A. I called Jack, Jessie and Dennis to join us.

Q: Why only 5 people?
A: It is time concern. We can only play about 2 and half hours from
3:00 to 5:30pm. 10 matches with 2 and half hours, that does not give
us too much free time.

Q: Can we use more table for Round Robbin?
A: The short answer is " No". We can only use 2, and all players in
Round Robbin can only warm up on the other tables. However, like last
Saturday, there were not many people. So we played round robbin on 3
tables. But this should not be our regular policy.

Pingpong fellows,
Currently, Only Giann Garcia and me signed for group A. There are 3 seats left in group A and 5 in group B. Please send me an email to reserve a seat. The prize for winner is 3 Nittaku balls (3 star). If you are not sure you can show up but really want to play, I will put you on waiting list. So if you do show up, you will have the priority if there is still seat left.

Hi,

Please review the attached WP tournament rules. I know
there will be some confusion, so please let me know
your questions.

The attached document is just a draft version, please
don't distribute it to your friends yet. Thanks to
Yasir, after he spent dozens of hours, finally, our
posters are almost done.

We also need to thank Kevin, he is working very hard
to develop website. Our website is for registration
purpose only, player still needs to send in the check
thru mail. To build up a full functional website is
not an easy task. We will add the on-line payment
function to our website on next year.

Since we will have more than 100+ players to
participate this tournament, I prefer people to
register thru website instead of mail-in. Both
registration and event scheduling are veyr labor
intensive tasks. Thru website, we can automate all
processes easily. So, website is a very critical tool
to us.

I have negotiated with Plano city successfully to
double our tournament capacity this year. Our major
task is to fill up those empty tables with double
event. So, we need to promote double playing very
aggressively. From now on, our bi-weekly round robbin
should play double instead of single.

Will, please help us to organize double round robbin.
Everybody, please find your partner and start
practicing double ASAP.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Please review the attached WP poster. Again, this is
not our final version yet, we are still in the fine

it should be www.wpttt.com which is still under
construction now.

Hi, Members;

Congratulations to our member - Louis who just opened
a new restaurant in Plano. Its name is Hong Kong
Express which is located at SW corner of Parker &
Alma. His restaurant offers tasty dishes with very
reasonable price.

I know why Louis gives the restaurant's name "Hong
Kong Express", it is cause he can smash the ping-pong
ball so fast. Actually, our club is just like a Grand
Central Station. Beside Hong Kong Express, we also
have Taiwan Express (Bill Shay), Pakistan Express
(Salmon), India Express (VJ), Korean Express (Jinho
Cha), China Express (Jack), Disneyland Express (Andrew
Chen), Texas Express (Russ Hamilton). Gee, we just
have too many fast expresses in our club.

Louis is not only our club's old timer member, even
his son is a member too. Over the past several years,
his son has grown up from a 4 ft little boy into a 6
ft teen. No wonder I am getting older, the time and
tide just wait for nobody.

Louis told me he will give our ping-pong club members
with good discount. But, I don't think the discount is
important, because the price is already not expensive
at all. For example, its lunch & dinner special is
only $4.95, besides the main dish, you also get spring
roll and soup.

The point is if we need to spend the money on food
anyway, then why not spend it on our brother's
restaurant ?

Best wish to Louis's restaurant and also hope our
members can drop by his restaurant.

Thanks..

Jon

Pingpong fellows,
Last week, 5 people played round robbin in Group B. The 3 Nittaku balls
went to the youngest player, Anurag Matharasi. He beat all other 4
players although Thomas gave him some headache. Following are the
detailed information.

Anurag 1650 1670
Roger 1649 1653
Thomas 1652 1640
Connie 1489 1476
Sam 1505 1489

I am accepting signup for 03/31 Round Robbin for group A and B. Also,
if anyone is interested in double round robbin, I will try to make it
happen.

Hi, all members;

Finally, the most exciting moment is arriving. We
officially kick out 2007 World Peace Table Tennis
Tournament (WP) today. Please review the attached
tournament document and posters. We need to thank our
member Yasir who did the wonderful poster for us.

The uniqueness of WP is it promotes the fun of
ping-pong for the whole community instead of just for
few skilled players. So, kids, and all level players
are welcome to join this tournament. Through the sport
events, players from different ethnic groups can have
fun and also make friends at the same time. This is
the best way to promote mutual understanding and
harmony for diversified culture groups.

WP was initiated by Multicultural Outreach Roundtable
(MCOR) and Thomas Tsang on year 2004. MCOR is a Plano
city advisory committee, it is made up of diverse
citizens serving as government liaisons to the various
ethnic and cultural groups. Thanks to Thomas hard
working, WP is the biggest ping-pong tournament in DFW
area now.

This year, thanks to Mr. Bruce Glasscock¡¦s (Executive
Director of Plano City) support, so we can expand WP
to 2 day events with 2 recreation centers. Now, we are
facing a new challenge, we need to fill up those empty
ping-pong tables. So, I need to request all members 2
favors: 1. Find a partner to play team event. 2.
Distribute this mail to your friends to invite more
participants.

Since our members are not used to play double game, I
need you to find your partner ASAP. Please don¡¦t be
shy, stretch out your arms with smile as the first
step. Then, look at your partner¡¦s eyes sincerely and
ask "Would you please to be my partner ? We will
together through good and the bad time. I give you
this ping-pong ball as a symbol of our vows, there is
no ending or beginning on this ball." You even don¡¦t
need to kneel down, so it is not difficult to do it.

The second favor is please to spread out this
tournament mail to your friends as much as possible.
We all know the reason nuclear bomb is so powerful is
because it can cause nuclear chain reaction, thus
leading to an exponential increase in the number of
nuclear reactions. If you send this email to your
friends, and your friends send this email to their
friends again, then we can produce a powerful email
nuclear bomb in Plano. It is our responsibility to
encourage our community to participate this fun event.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me
email.

ALL Members;

I was repeatedly asked by our members about the
ping-pong table status in the new Tom Muehlenbeck
Recreation (TMC) Center. Plus, we have many new
members who know nothing about TMC. So, I would like
to give you the most updated info.

TMC is Plano¡¯s newest recreation center with the best
facilities, it will not complete its construction
until this summer. Two years ago, when Plano city held
a public meeting to discuss how to design TMC. I
submitted a ping-pong facilities request document in
that meeting. Luckily, our request was approved later
and I also met with construction team to discuss the
more detailed design issues. Please go to the
following website to get the most current info.

http://www.plano.gov/Departments/parksandrecreation/Parks_Facilities/muehlenbeck\

But, the key info we want to know is how many tables
we will get ? So, I sent out an inquiry letter to TMC
manager recently, unfortunately, I still can not get a
solid answer. Please review the following mail from
TMC manager. One positive sign is the new manager is
from Liberty Center, she is my old friend and she
knows how crowd in Liberty ping-pong court very well.
Even only few tables in TMC will give us big help,
because its opening dates will be different from
Liberty.

The only negative side of TMC opening is it will
create more "Ping-Pong widow" for our member. My
deepest sympathy to cliff's wife, when TMC opens, she
would never find Cliff staying at home.

Hi, Jana;

Very sorry to bother you, because I know you are very
busy to work on the construction of Tom Muehlenbeck
Center.

I have been repeatedly asked by our ping-pong club
members about how many ping-pong tables will be
available in Tom Muehlenbeck Center. Unfortunately, I
can not find the answer for this question. Since Tom
Muehlenbeck Center will be opened within just a few
months, I am sure all detailed budget for facilities
should have already been done. So, would you please
shed some light for us ?

According to the multi-purpose room's size, it can
accommodate 8-9 ping-pong tables very comfortably.
Since you have worked with Liberty Center before, I
don't need to tell you how bad is the waiting
situation in Liberty ping-pong court.

Thanks for Mr. Bruce Glasscock's strong support for
ping-pong sport. Now, we can expand World Peace Table
Tennis Tournament to both Carpenter & Liberty Centers.
At the same time, the waiting line for ping-pong table
is getting longer and longer.

I know the city's budget is always very tight. But, if
your office's purchase decision is based on the
facility's usage rate, then even 8 new ping-pong
tables in Tom Muehlenbeck Center is not enough to
match its demand.

I keep on soothing our members to lower down their
expectation about the tables in new center. Otherwise,
we may get hurt very badly on the opening date.

You have always been very nice to us in Liberty
Center, are you going to hurt us in Tom Muehlenbeck
Center ? I hope not.

Thanks for your help. I am very glad we will see our
old friend in Tom Muehlenbeck Center very soon.

Hi, Members;

Please review the following mail from Feng who is the
President of QD Table Tennis Club which is the newest
and also the biggest table tennis club in DFW area.

Thanks for Feng's invitation, I visited QD Table
Tennis Club on yesterday. There is only one word
-"HUGE" can describe its size. The main ping-pong
court is 7000 SF, another smaller gym room is 2000 SF.
For comparison purpose, the court size in Liberty
Center is only around 3500 SF and we can put 8 tables.

QD Table Tennis Club is conveniently located at Legacy
and Coit where is the center point of Asian most
concentrated living area in Plano.

QD Table Tennis Club will be opened around 04-23 with
10 tables and more new tables will be added on July.
This is a very good news for ping-pong lovers in
Plano.

Our member Thomas Tsang is responsible for QD Table
Tennis Club's remodeling pronect. No wonder we can not
see Thomas to play ping-pong recently. It proves our
club members have so many diversified talents. If
anybody needs remodeling or construction, Thomas can
take care of it easily.

Please be patient, a few more days later, we will see
QD Table Tennis Club's grand opening.

Jon

Mr. Jon Liu,

Thank you for the information update. We are very happy to know that there are many people who like the table tennis.

Our tatble tennis club will be open to the public on around 4/23/07. It is located at 4100 Legacy Drive, Suite 404,

Plano, TX 75024. The tennis court is about 7,000 ft^2. Currently we have ten tables and more tables will be

added around July this year. The club is taught by Coach Wan, a famous table tennis coach from China.

Please spread the news to all the people and members in Plano and its vicinity. Let's work together

to promote the table tennis and provide another channel for people to reach out each other.

as I know, Connie dropped out after she lost three
matches, and the following is part of the results.

Larry vs. Roger: 3-0
Larry vs. Vajay: 3-2
Larry vs. Jason: 3-0

Roger vs. Jason: 3-1
Roger vs. Vajay: 2-3?

Jason vs. Vajay: 1-3?

Thanks,

Larry

Hi, Members;

Please review the following mail from our Korean
member ¨C Jinho, who spent his own $200 to purchase a
full page ad on the biggest Korean newspaper to
publish our World Peace tournament poster and info.

Thanks for Jinho¡¯s generosity and endless effort to
bridge Plano Table Tennis Club and Korean players
together. Jinho, please don¡¯t worry about your
injury. Even you can not make our tournament, your
noble virtue has already won yourself a big trophy
from our club.

We also need to thank Yasir who re-worked our poster,
so it can be printed in black/white color on
newspaper. Besides, he added extra info for our
sponsor ¨C World Asia Market.

In order for our member to well prepare for WP, I
invited our club¡¯s Sr. Executive Technical Adviser ¨C
Russ Hamilton to give us a seminar. Russ has 2300+
USATT points who is also one of the top table-tennis
player in DFW area. It is our club¡¯s great honor to
invite such great player to share his valuable
experience with us.

This seminar¡¯s topics: 1. How to prepare for a
tournament ? Include both in physically and mentally.
2. How to win a match game ? Valuable tips to gain
point. 3. How to play double ? This is our weak
spot, Russ is going to fix this problem for us. 4.
Answer member¡¯s questions.

This seminar will be held in Liberty Center on 04-14
(Sat.) at 2 PM. This seminar is not only a lecture
session, we also have table ready for Russ to
demonstrate the actions.

This seminar is FREE for everybody. I have talked with
Liberty staff, for any non-Plano resident or
non-recreation center member, they can participate
this seminar without paying any guest fee. So, please
feel free to bring in your friends.

Thanks a lot..

Jon
Jon,

I would like to let you know that I placed our poster for the tournament
on the largest Korean weekly paper as a part of my effort promoting
more Korean brothers/sisters’ participation.  Its expected circulation will
start from today (Friday), and you guys can pick it up any of Korean
markets or restaurants.
The name of the Korean Weekly Paper is NEWS KOREA.

It cost me $200.00 reserving the entire page for the poster and some
Information regarding our tournament.

I hope my effort and fund will help promoting more Koreans into our
tournament....

I still have some problem on my right side shoulder (collar bone has been
dislocated); so I am not sure whether I can be able to play... We will see...

Your friend...

Hi, Members;

Please review the attached World Peace tournament
registration list. If you find any error, please
notify James ASAP - txtiger2020@....

I spent lots of time to deal with Plano city and 2
recreation centers. I sent out many emails and went
thru numerous meetings, finally, I got Liberty Center
as part of our tournament. But, after I reviewed our
registration list, it is very discouraging, we got
only very few team players.

Where is our Korean brothers ? Where is our Indian
brothers ? If there is no good turnout, then Plano
city thinks we don¡¯t need Liberty Center and will
take it away on next year. I requested Liberty to give
us the whole gym for our tournament. 8 tables will put
in 2 huge basketball courts, it is a perfect place to
play double. It is really a big shame if we lose
Liberty.

So, I am organizing a ¡°Rescue Liberty Center¡±
campaign now. I will do my best to recruit as many as
team players. If you are not sure whether you have
time to make team event, it is OK. go ahead register
first. If you can not make it, then we will give you
full refund or you can find a replacement player, the
fee has never been an issue with us. If you are not
sure which group you should play, it is OK, we allow
you to make any switch.

If you can not find a partner, I will do the dating
service for you to to find a partner. The only thing
you need to do is sending in your requested email to
me. If you are not familiar with double skill, you are
not alone, nobody in our club plays double before.

So, I will fix this problem for you too. I have
already invited the HIGHEST ranking table tennis
player in DFW area ¨C Russ Hamilton (2300+ points) to
teach us how to play double. After you complete this
seminar, you will become a double expert plus many
other skills to win a tournament.

Please don¡¯t forget, this valuable seminar is held on
this coming Sat, 04-14, 2 PM at Liberty Center gym. It
is FREE and opened for everybody, please feel free to
invite your friends to participate.

What is your last question ? You say you are afraid to
lose game ? The youngest register player in our
tournament is only 5 years old and we have a bunch of
8-10 years old kids. Do you need them to teach you
that the life is full of challenge and we should not
afraid to lose ?

So, what are you waiting for ? Please register with
team event ASAP, the blank registration form is also
attached. We are extremely flexible to facilitate to
your participation.

Thanks for your participation..

It seems to me that we already have a lot of teams
signed up.

If each team plays 2 or 4 single matches plus 1 double
match, and each match is best-of-5, we sure will need
the whole day to complete the tournament.

Hi, All;

Finally, the most exciting moment ¡V 2007 World Peace
Table-Tennis Tournament is just around the corner.
There are many table-tennis tournaments in DFW area,
but we are the biggest and the best. It is because we
are a non-profit organization and we have always
positioned ourselves as a humble community servant, so
we hope everybody can have great fun from our
tournament.

World Peace opening ceremony will be held on 8:45 AM,
04-21 in Carpenter Center with the following
procedures:

1. National Anthem is performed by professional women
quartet.

2. Prayer service is performed by Reverend Walter B.
Klockers who is also our club member.

3. Award to Thomas Tsang who is the founder of World
Peace tournament. Also award to Carpenter Center
staff, thanks for their long time support to our club.

4. Plano Mayor Pat Evans¡¦s speech.

5. Demonstration game, this is an eye-opening event.
It is performed by our club¡¦s internal Round Robbins
champion Jack against 10 years old Andrew who has
already won several USATT national titles on his tiny
belt.

2007 World Peace Table Tennis Tournament has 12
tables, 100+ players plus hundreds of spectators. We
will play all games in 2 Plano recreation centers thru
2 weeks duration. We broke our participants record
and we will setup a higher bar for next year. But,
without your support, I know we can not reach our
goal, so we deeply appreciate your participation.

The most important part of this tournament is opening
ceremony. WHY ? Because Plano Mayor and several city
officers will be our guests in this ceremony. We need
your support to show the table-tennis is a popular and
serious sport in Plano. If you are always hiding in
the closet, then you can not complain why table-tennis
is not a main stream sports in USA.

I know everybody is very busy on Sat., but this
opening ceremony only takes 30 minutes, you can drop
by and leave very soon. Please come in at 8:45 AM to
show your support to our community.

Let¡¦s have fun together in WP tournament...

Best Regards;
