No wind til? Maybe my new Quad with the single twin will be ready before the
next blow. Most likely not, because nice waves can be associated with cut off
lows around here.
thurs- florence 5.3, mostly powered, had a couple waves chest high and a few
good jumps

I hope to still be windsurfing and wave riding when there is a sensor network
installed that gives detailed real time wave data at hundreds of spots for the
entire coast. Thursday, I'm sure I had the only head high rides on the North
coast at the sideshore gem Cleo's, until it went away. Then I packed it up and
relocated to Manzanita, arriving and launching just as the wind filled in for
real, had a blast, mixing fun with skill building until 7 PM with only 1
windsurfer and 1 kiter joining me when they saw me demonstrate how nicely it had
finally filled in to shore. I love being the wind canary!
Looked at the cape, looked at the jetty and everywhere else in between, but the
waves at the rock is what drew me out there again today. No wind, but plenty of
wave rides available with the paddle.

Not I, what the heck happened to the swell lately? Might try Lincoln City
tomorrow and Neptune Saturday morning. I think there's more swell at Rooster
Rock than Oceanside today.

I like the big tweaked ariel at the Rock.
Nice vid clips. Jake needs to come down here more often and hang.
Today was just another day at the office at Face with good wind and funk wind
waves. Beats sailing the Rock when the wind is good.

It usually blows around 3pm. I'll be there if I can.

Sailed 4.0 on Friday afternoon for a couple of hours. The waves were on the
smaller side, but ideal for me since it was my first day out this year.
Saturday, the wind picked up around 2, and I was on my 4.7. I had to pack and
leave around 4 since I had mountain bike obligations in Bend. (the trails were
also epic)

Upwelling came very early this year, leading to an amazing water temp. gradient
that focused strongest winds where you wanted them the most: in the outer surf
zone. It was a day of running after your board (strong current due to large,
short period waves), jumping on, hooking in, and screaming out, catching giant
air off perfect wave ramps. It was very flat outside as the wind quickly dropped
off the farther out you went. Wonderful half pipe runs back in, blasting between
tall swells as you picked from nice clean (some well over head high) waves to
ride. Full speed jibes in shallow water and back out to do it again and again.
20 kiters, 4 windsurfers, I was on a 5.2, which was perfect. A rare day.
I am working on a Kite Boat project utilizing old wind surfing boards. I
currently have one very large board for the center (can't remember the brand
right this moment) and one Cobra Radical 290 to be used as an outrigger.
What I need is a match to the Cobra Radical 290 that I have right now. This
would be the preferred solution since I have most of the other equipment now.
Alternatively, I would be interested in 2 boards that were close to the Cobra.
Obviously, I am trying to keep the expenditures down to a minimum since this is
really just an experiment for now. So if you have or know someone that does have
what I'm looking for please let me know. I live in Seaside, OR so the closer the
better.
Thanks
Richard
We feel for ya Dave, however today was far from epic-
wind was 5 to mach5 and the waves small and tuff to get more than 2-3 turns-
maybe friday- you gonna try?
