Fantastic, now that you have gone 3d with your hull, you need to send
an an email to shorty pen with your pic so he can give you a hull
number.
Then all you need is a little paint a mast and a sail.

Go to Pdracer.com for further information

Well I have been working on my racer for about a week now. Here is a
pic of what I ahve done so far.

I clamped my bottom hull in place. It fits up good. I am watering it
to make it conform. After that I am going to take it off and put some
bulkheads in I realized the tope f the sides will go out of square
easily if I dont. It will also put way to much stress on the where
the sides meet the bottom hull If I start moving it around.

Well if you have any suggestions let me know. Got to go beg my wife
to let me buy another piece of ply. Then I got to figure out wht sail
I wanna do and how I am gonna rig it.

(Just realized I cant put a pic on my post so check out the photo
section under band_fella)

John Wright and Neill Tipton, Thank both of you and your wives for
your courtesy and good humor during a great afternoon at Lake Whitney.
That was a great place to launch and sail in pleasant surroundings. We
had light wind and a good wind sometimes at almost the same moment,
right! Being use to the coast, that variable wind was a little
disconcerting but probably great practice for Lake Charles with a town
and trees all around it. The lake is not a "canyon" lake but still will
produce variable winds, none the less. I looked at a chart of the lake
on the internet and it looked like + - 6 or 7' and is a small lake. I
would like to make next race, so keep me posted.

At Lake Whitney today, John H.Wright's Q&D PD took control beating
the Mad Mallard (sailed by John Nikolaoc Wright) soundly. That is
one fasssst boat. The winds were light and variable with some gusty
periods but mostly very light. The Q&D pointed higher (love those
bilge keels) and moved faster than I thought a Pdracer could. John's
boat weighs less than 70 lbs and he was using a full sized Sunfish
sail and rig. Neill Tipton and his Myrtle the Turtle were also
present but didn't race due to problems with the balance of his rig
and with his rudder. John Nikolaoc Wright (me) pulled a dumb stunt
and left his boom and gooseneck at home and tried to sail boomless.
John H. and Neil came to my rescue and helped me rig a sprit boom
made out of my oars lashed together. That boom worked as well as my
regular one so I have no excuse for losing other than John H. has a
better boat and is a better sailor. It is my opinion that Ken Abrams
has his work cut out defending his World Championship against John H.
Wright and the Q%D PD.(John tells me he is planning to be at Lake
Charles for the trophy challenge)

Watch for information for the July Challenge.

Best idea I know of is to go sailing (with Pdracer.com
on the boat) people see the boat and ask questions

I am soliciting ideas that could work to promote a PDR sailing fleet. I
have just started sailing after many years and do not know any sailing
people or groups to start the promotion of the PDR and its wonderful
qualities. What works!

It is a date! 12 noon at the Cedar Creek Park.  Let us keep in touch with any possible changes.  I will look into the Cedar Creek location on the Internet and will ask, if I have any questions. I am sending a copy of this to Neill Tipton.  Do you think any of your fleet attend?

I think I am your newest member and probably the most distant. I am the
other "John Wright" from Bastrop. I have a new PDR hull #42 Q&D PD.
Neill Tipton (Myrtle) is froom Kileen and we would like to sail with
your flotilla hopefully a little closer to centeral Texas if possible.
The only lake that I can think of is Lake Whitney which is north west
of Waco. If your capitans are from north of DFW that would be a drive
but would still be about a 1 1/2 hour for Neill and 2 1/2 for me. If
you would include us in the loop the 25th of June would work.

Its time to announce another in the Challenge series for 2005. The May
callenge was called off because of the messabout at Magnolia beach
(Jason we could use a report on that) I didn't get to go myself. I
think June 25th would be a good day for puddleducking, the location is
negotiable, Lake Lewisville is scary on weekends in the summer ( too
many jet skiis and other weird boaters.) Lake Grapevine might be
better or possibly Lake Ray Roberts. I will look into the
possibilities and I am open to suggestions concerning other lakes in
the DFW area. Let me know if you are interested in the challenge.

Not at Magnolia Beach, I did my sailing in the Laguna
Madre below Port Mansfield, but the big bays are much
alike.

I am thinking of borrowing a truck and taking the mad
mallard but I wont try to get to the islands in it.
I will stay on Magnolia beach. I have been caught on
one of the bays in a small boat before by a squall
and that boat was 16 feet It was not fun a puddle
duck would be even scarier. I am not sure if I can go
or not That weekend is just before our final exams
but I am going to try.

Hey John
I was just wondering if you were going to the Raid?I am really
considering going. If I do go I am going to take the SEA FLEA.I am
fairly confident that I will be ok sailing across the bay If I have
any doubts I will just hang out at the beach.I am going to try to
borrow my fathers GPS and marine radio.I am going to mount the radio
inside the cabin and run the antenna along the top of the sidewalls
just below the spar on my Lateen.I went sailing today and it did
really well.I went about 1/3 of the way across Medina Lake.I was going
to sail across the entire lake which is about 16 miles but the wind
was variable and I didn't want to get stuck on the other side.I wanted
it to run a little faster so when I got home I added a small jib.It
has a luff of 6' a leech of 5' and a foot of 3'6".I am also
considering making a spinnaker for fast running downwind.
Thanks

The Mad Mallard held off The Sea Flea to win the April Foolishness
Challenge at Lake Lewisville today. I am hoping we will have more
entrants at the next race. The date for the next race is still up in
the air because both Jason and myself hope to be at the Magnolia Beach
messabout in May. I will post here if any other event comes up for May.

I have decided (after looking over the possibilities at Grapevine
Lake) that the best idea for the April Foolishness Challenge is to
hold it at Pilot Knoll Park on Lake Lewisville (The Same location as
the Birthday Challenge) I propose that we have the race scheduled
for noon on April 23rd. Come one, come all. We will race and picnic.
The park has camping facilities for those from out of town for $20
however its popular so call ahead (940-455-2228) Day use charge is $5
for car, driver, and one passenger. extra people are $1 each children
under 10 are free. I will get there early (around 9, well.. thats
early for me) and get a good spot near the buoys for starting. We
will put the turn buoy upwind so the start will be into the wind. All
you Texas Puddleduckers are challenged to come.

Great! And I hope the weather is better. More wind. I
plan to spend the day and picnic. I will get
directions to the sight posted soon. It will be at
Grapevine Lake. Its not a long way from where we were
last time.

The first race of the DFW Challenge series was completed today.
Jason Nabors and John Wright and their boats, The Sea Flea and the
Mad Mallard respectively, raced at Pilot Knoll Park on Lake
Lewisville. The race was held a day earlier than originally planned
because the weather is supposed to get bad tomorrow and Jason and
Myself were the only entrants so we agreed to do it today. All
morning the wind was constant at 10 to 15 mph out of the North. It
looked like a perfect day for pdracers. Everything was great up to
the starting blast from the horn. The wind died down at that point
and we had a time making any headway. The Mad Mallard, being the
lighter of the two boats, eventually won. The Sea Flea is definately
the best looking of the two. Nice workmanship on the hull.

Points will be awarded in the DFW circuit based on the number of
boats racing. Today the Mad Mallard got 2 points and the Sea Flea
got 1. At the end of the season (September) the boat with the most
points will be declared the champion.

The Annual Birthday Challenge will be the first race of the season.
Next month is the April Foolishness Challenge which is tentively set
for Saturday April 23 at Grapevine Lake. More details will be
posted at a later date.

Anyone wishing to build a boat and enter the Challenge Series should
do so, the more the merrier. Pics of this event will be posted as
soon as I figure out how to do it.
