The Mallard is one, the Sea Flea was built in
Farmersville but Jason moved to San Antonio. So the
"fleet" in DFW is one boat.
As far as costs go, I figure I have about $200 total
in the Mallard. That includes the oars, the sails, and
the anchor which I bought rather than made. I also am
using the yard from a sunfish as the mast, I bought
that used for $30. The rest was the various supplies
you need. Wood, of course, fasteners like screws and
nails, glue (I used titebond II and PL Premium
Construction adhesive) paint, caulk. Then there is
the running rigging, line, blocks, cleats and other
little things that boats have, like oar locks. None of
which are all that expensive but they add up.
I hope you and your friend get one built in time for
the next challenge in late April at Grapevine Lake.
