Edge Composites uses a new carbon
manufacturing technique that creates a component's holes (for valve,
spoke, brake bolt) as part of the molding process. This means
Edge Composites eliminates steps 2), 3), and 4) of the process
currently used by other carbon rim and fork
manufacturers:
1.Mold the component.
2.Bond pieces of the component (like dropouts and fork
blades)
3.Drill spoke, valve, and/or brake bolt holes.
4.Reinforce the drilled holes with
epoxy.
The result of Edge Composites' new process
is a line of rims and forks and other components that are lighter,
stiffer, and stronger than any other rims or forks you can
get. There are NO rider weight
limits on any Edge products.
Visit
weightweenies.com and use their
search engine. Edge Composites products are meeting virtually
universal approval among a very picky group of bike
owners.

Good Evening!!
Just joined this group. I live in Brazil, the city is Recife.
I was looking for info. of how to manufactures peices with carbon
fiber, once I plan to manufactures car pieces with this material for
the "tunnig" people.
This group join 2 things I Like very much speed bikes (likes those on
the pictures) and carbon fiber, so I hope to learn a lot about both
things here.
Tks in advance

I just posted a photo of my new Z1x. It's custom geo - 57cm square -
with 10sp DA. After a couple of rides, I can say it's easily the best
bike I've ever owned.

The custom 11.9-pound bike on which Tyler Hamilton won the 2005 Mt.
Washington Hillclimb was on display in the Parlee booth (Parlee makes
a Tyler Hamilton Foundation model, the proceeds from which go to
Hamilton's foundation). Parlee also showed a carbon bike with sculpted
carbon lugs decorated with the new superlight Alpha Q orange metallic
GS-10 fork and matching Orange metallic panels on the frame. Built up
with Lightweight wheels, there was hardly a steel part on it, but it
was meant to evoke the steel frames of old with sculpted lugs and
painted frame panels. All Parlees can be ordered custom-sized.

The Z1SL and Z3SL are in production! We introduced these new designs
in 2004, and they're currently in the works. An exceptionally
lightweight bike providing high performance - and weighing less than 2
pounds! (850 grams)
Bob says, "This bike is not just for the racer --- it is built for the
rider who wants the ultimate lightweight frame."

How do I get to the gallery to see your pics? I don't see the Z3 in the
photos on the yahoo site. Thanks
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them with us. I am sure that you
will like your new bike.
Cheers

Hi everyone. I just posted some pics of my new (to me) Z3. This is
the one that I got off of ebay, then had Parlee refinish. You would
never be able to tell it from new.
Anyway, had it for 4 days (and been riding 3 of them) and I really
like it. I don't have much to compare with, as I've been exclusively
on a tri bike for over a year and was on a mid-90's aluminum Klein
prior to that.
I'm still working on finishing the build (different wheels, brakes)
and may end up replacing the fork to get the bars up a little bit
more. We'll see. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
Let me first say, I don't own a Parlee (working on it), but if I knew they would
do what you
mentioned, I would have bidded on that frame myself. I too wasn't thrilled with
the yellow
and red, so stayed away. At the price you got it for, if the inspection and
rework is
reaonable, I would do it. I would do this just for the feeling that this frame
would feel a bit
less "used" and become more for me.
Good luck and let us know how things work out.
Paul
Hey everybody. I'm very excited to say that I'm the guy who won the
Z3C that was up on ebay last week. I can hardly wait for the FedEx
man to show up at my office today or tomorrow with my big package!
The only sad news is that I blew the budget to get the frame/fork, so
it's going to be several more months before I've got the funds to
build it up. Oh, well. At least I'll have a really cool frame to
look at.
I do have a general question for the group. I've traded emails with
Jonathan at Parlee and know that I can send them back the frame to
have it inspected. He also told me for a bit more money, they could
strip off the clearcoat, replace the stickers (I'm not wild about the
red/yellow that are on it now) and do a full inspection. I'm fairly
sure that no warranty would be implied by this service. Is this
something that you guys would recommend? Clearly, money is a concern
because I'd have to wait that little bit longer to build it up, but
it's a bike that I'll have for a long time and I like the peace of
mind that comes from a full inspection by its makers.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I'll try to post some
pictures when it arrives.
Andy
