Vince forwarded me the message from Jeff. The BUYcycling spammers
and sex salespeople have been posting a lot.
So I made a few changes to the group's settings:
(1) For about a week, I set all messages to be moderated. That means
I will have to approve each one. That should cut down on the Tall
Singles and Great New Bicycle Info spam. After the week, I'll open
it up to unmoderated posting for existing members.
(2) This will be permanent: all new members must be approved. This
cuts way down on the spam.
Going forward, I have some questions for the group.
1. Would anyone like to volunteer as a co-moderator? Some busy
groups have as many as 10 moderators!
2. Any suggestions to make this a more lively place? The messengers
group and the non-track fixed-gear groups are pretty active. Are
there any non-messenger fix riders on the streets and on the
internet?

There's a new fixed website in the U.K.:

Anyone want to be in a NYC photo shoot for a magazine article on
track bikes on the street? I've been having trouble getting in touch
with some of the old-skoolers...
