Re: OldSkoolTrack Hi From Cali. gearing questions...

i made a major typo!
the number of inches in a mile should be:
63,360 NOT 36,360
i erased the message quickly after sending it, and you caught it
before i could make the change. but here it is again...

this should work for you...
i think...

g = gear-inch ratio
rpm = rpm value
60 = minutes in an hour
63,360 = inches in a mile
MPH = Miles Per Hour

(g * rpm) * 60 / 63,360 = MPH

in my case...
(80 * 90rpm) * 60 / 63,360 = 6.8 mph

hope this works for you,

Hey Sid! It's helpful to measure in gear-inches. To translate cog teeth into gear inches, see the gear chart on www.fixedgearfever.com. Or do this. Assuming...

Welcome Sid! 42/12 on a 27 inch wheel gives you a 94.5 inch gear, which is tremendous. = It means you'll have a tough time starting and stopping, and moving...
