Fire-sale prices on two wonderful classic lugged steel framesets that are
getting very hard to find, especially in this excellent condition. I listed some
parts I will give to a buyer. I also have some nice parts I will sell at very
low prices, including brand-new wheelsets. Pictures available for the asking.
============================
Pogliaghi frame and fork and extras
This beautiful Italian-made Basso-built Pogliaghi classic lugged steel frame and
fork is painted gloss black with white decals outlined in gold. The steel fork
has a 1" threaded steel steerer (includes a Stronglight headset) and a flat fork
crown with Pogliaghi engraving in the crown.
The frame measures 56cm c-c with a 56cm top tube. The head tube length is 138mm,
rear drop out width is 128mm, and the bottom bracket shell measures 70mm wide.
The steel tubing is Basso Tube Concept Super Light Cr Mo 4 SX custom made for
Basso. There are two sets of water bottle bosses, a braze-on front derailleur
tab, down tube shifter bosses, and pump peg, The rear brake cable is routed at 7
o'clock on the top tube. The rear dropouts are horizontal and are stamped
Pogliaghi.
This frame is new, and was partially built up but never ridden. There are some
matching paint touch-ups to a very few paint chips on the frame and fork, but
being gloss black it is hard to see them. The frame and fork have been
completely treated inside the tubes with Boeshield T-9 rust prevention spray.
Includes a very nice Stronglight headset, Campagnolo Campy bottom bracket, and
Shimano BL-1055 Super SLR brake levers.

Torelli frame and fork and extras
This is an absolutely beautiful lugged steel frameset that was built up, ridden
five times, then stored for ten years. This Torelli was initially bought
directly from the Torelli USA importer and built up by the original owner. After
he built it up and test rode it a handful of times, he found it was too small
for him. He took the parts off of it (other than the headset because he didn't
want to take a chance on chipping the head tube paint) and placed in storage.
After ten years, the original owner finally concluded he would never build it
back up, so he sold it.
This is a really great hand-made fully-lugged Italian steel frame and fork at a
great price. Here is some detailed information on the Torelli Super Strada from
the Torelli archived website:
The Torelli Super Strada has been Torelli's best-selling frameset for years. It
is suitable for a racer on a budget. Hand-built in an immaculate, small shop
north of Padua, we believe the Super Strada to be unique in its price range by
using all lost-wax (investment-cast) conjunctions and Columbus SL tubing and
American paint.
Materials: The Super Strada's three main tubes are standard diameter Columbus SL
tubing. To keep the price low without incurring a significant performance
penalty, the Super Strada rear triangle and fork blades are of Columbus cro-moly
steel.
The lugs, fork crown and bottom bracket shell are lost-wax (investment-cast).
This expensive, precise method of making conjunctions imparts greater strength
to the bike. The greater precision of fit between the tubes and our lugs make
possible a better and more strongly brazed joint
The bridgeless cast bottom bracket shell is unique in a frame at this price.
It's design gives greater rigidity to the chainstays, imparting greater
efficiency to the Super Strada without a weight penalty.
The paint is Dupont Imron, applied in the United States with a thick clear-coat
to protect the decals and give the frame a beautiful, lustrous appearance.
Design: The seat stays are brazed directly to the seat lug for lower weight.
Brake routing uses a split, interrupted rear brake cable housing for lighter
weight and crisper braking. Extensive hand-work rare on an economical frameset
is evidenced by the laborious filling and shaping of the dropout joints. The
usual method is to use pre-shaped tubes that eliminate this process, but this
gives a less aesthetic joint that isn't as strong.
This Torelli Super Strada frame measures 53cm from the center of the bottom
bracket to the center of the top tube, or 54cm from the center of the bottom
bracket to the top of the top tube, with a 54cm top tube. The frame is nicely
painted in metallic satin silver with red Torelli decals outlined in black. The
1" threaded fork is painted metallic satin silver to match the frame, and has a
sloping fork crown with red painted decorative cut-outs in the fork crown. .
This frame has two sets of water bottle bosses, takes a clamp-on front
derailleur for maximum adjustability, rear brake cable is routed at 7 o'clock on
the top tube, pump peg, chain hanger, cable guides under the bottom bracket
shell, and has down tube cable adjusters stops. The bottom bracket is Italian
threaded, and a Campagnolo bottom bracket spun in by hand. The rear dropouts are
horizontal adjustable (adjusting screws included) and measure 130mm wide, while
the 1" head tube measures 122mm long.
As I mentioned above, this frame and fork were built up, test ridden a handful
of times, parts were removed, and the frameset has been stored since then. This
Torelli is in excellent condition, with only a few mostly touched up scratches
on it, primarily from years of storage. The main scratch is on the inside of the
left chain stay where the original owner didn't have the rear tire clamped in
when he was testing the gears with the bike in the bike stand when building it
up and rubbed the paint with the rear tire. The Italia flag decal on the right
side of the top tube is not under clearcoat like the other decals appear to be,
so it will probably be more fragile than the others. The frame and fork have
been completely treated inside the tubes with Boeshield T-9 rust prevention
spray. Includes a very nice Campagnolo Record headset and a scratched up and
used Shimano Ultegra RD-6500 rear derailleur.

This is the last posting for this complete bike. If it doesn't sell (have had
lots of e-mails and callers but no buyer) I will sell the components and the
frame/fork separately on eBay next month when I sell off the remainder of my
used parts.
This is a complete bike for sale and is, in fact, my personal ride. This vintage
1988 Schwinn Paramount, built in the legendary Waterford factory, measures 56cm
from the center of bottom bracket to the top of the top tube with a 55.5cm top
tube. The frame and fork are painted a beautiful Racing Red. The paint is in
very good condition, owing both to the quality of the initial paint job and the
care that was taken in protecting this frameset over the years. The paint was
hand sprayed, with two coats of epoxy primer followed by four to five coats of
acrylic urethane enamel color and protective clear coats.
This lugged steel frame was hand built and silver brazed to within .005"
alignment tolerance by some of the most revered master craftsmen in the history
of frame building. The decal on the steel tubing shows it to be Columbus SLX,
which was the high-end steel available when this Paramount was built in the
famous Waterford factory in 1988.
The frame has investment cast lugs and bottom bracket shell. There are two sets
of water bottle bosses, pump peg and chain hanger, and the rear brake cable is
routed on the top of the top tube. All of the tubes have been treated with
Boeshield T-9 rust prevention spray.
The components are all high end as well. The brakes, cranks, 9 speed STI
shifters, derailleurs, bottom bracket, chain, cassette (12/27), headset, and
hubs are all Shimano Ultegra. The wheels are black Mavic Open Pro's with
Michelin tires. There is a Thomson seatpost, Specialized BG saddle, 3T stem,
Look-type pedals, and an Axiom wireless bike computer. The components all have
less than 1000 miles on them.
This is a very nice looking and great riding bike at a fantastic price. There
are some touched-up paint chips and a couple of chips to the decals, but this
bike is in very good condition and has been well maintained.
Paramount's have an impeccable reputation for quality workmanship and wonderful
ride. $700 for the complete bike picked up in McAlester. Pictures available for
the asking.

I know that Zipp Demo Day is coming up so I want to take this
opportunity to offer for sale my 2005 Zipp 404s. They are true, glued
and ready to race. These are the non-dimpled version. They probably
have less than a few hundred miles on them. Titanium Zipp skewers
included. No bags. Will go on eBay next spring if nobody local buys
them. Call me 691-4083.
Sold to a fellow Oklahoma rider, thanks
Subject: FS: Great price on a size Medium Giant OCR1 frame, cf fork, headset,
stem, bars, seatpost, and wheelset.
This is a great deal! This 2006 Giant OCR1 frame, fork, components, and the
Vuelta wheelset have been ridden less than 100 miles and are in excellent
condition.
The OCR1 geometry, according to Giant, "...delivers equal parts performance
and forgiving positioning for all-day comfort perfectly matched to nimble
handling".
The frame is gloss black with silver and red decals. The frame is made of
Giant's light but strong custom designed ALUXX Butted 6000 Series aluminum
tubing. The frame is a size M (medium) in Giant's Compact Road Design line,
which means it measures 50cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of
the compact designed seat tube and has a 55cm effective top tube length. The
matching fork is a Formula One Composite Technology carbon model with an
aluminum steerer. This frame and fork come with a composite Giant seatpost,
Easton EA30 stem, Giant handlebar, seatpost binder clamp, and headset.
This sale also includes a hand-built Vuelta XRP wheelset. The rims are silver
with red and white decals, flat-bladed spokes with 24 count in front and rear,
and include rim strips and skewers.

Sold, thanks
I bought this Basso Gap frame and fork last year from a Basso bike shop,
paying full retail asking price because it was such a stunningly beautiful
frameset and because new vintage lugged Basso steel frames are so hard to find.
While there are some more well-known "name" frames like Colnago, Merckx,
DeRosa, Gios, Pinarello, etc., I have never seen a more consistent builder of
quality framesets than Basso. Their selection of high-end customized steel
tubing, quality of the brazing and lug work, durability and beauty of the paint
jobs, and the smooth and stable ride of the assembled bike all are signatures of
the Basso brand. This frame was prepped for me (bottom bracket threads chased
and seat tube honed) and I put it away, safely stored in my garage until I could
build it up.
I decided get the Basso out today to start the process of getting it ready to
build up. It is just as beautiful as I remember it! This Basso still has the
Basso inventory tag on it (warehouse date 4-8-94) and the paint still looks wet
some thirteen plus years later.
I knew the frame was 2cm smaller than what I am now riding (I have been riding
a 56cm Schwinn Paramount for over a year now and really like the larger frame),
but what I didn't remember was the Basso head tube being 122mm. I have my 3T
stem in the Paramount raised all the way to the minimum insertion line, but if I
do the same to the Basso the handlebars will be 2cm lower than they are now on
the Paramount (that head tube is also 2cm bigger than the Basso head tube) and
that will be too low for me.
This Basso Gap measures 54cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the
center of the top tube with a 54.5cm top tube length. The seat tube angle is
73.5. The head tube measures 122mm and the uncut threaded steerer tube is 185mm
long, with the top 55mm threaded. Rear spacing on the horizontal rear dropouts
(no screws included) is 130mm.
This Basso Gap frame is painted in a rich and wet racing red and competition
yellow paint scheme, with white decals outlined in black. The head tube and
majority of the top tube and down tube are competition yellow, with a defined
transition to racing red for the rest of the top tube and down tube and rear
triangle. The matching 1" threaded steel fork has an engraved sloping crown and
is painted racing red.
The frame has two sets of water bottle bosses, a braze-on derailleur tab, down
tube shifter bosses, and the rear brake cable housing is routed at 7 o'clock on
the top tube. The tubing is steel proprietary Basso Tube Concept Super Light
steel tubing designed and manufactured especially for Basso. An Italian threaded
Campagnolo bottom bracket spins in by hand, and all of the tubes have been
treated with Boeshield T9 rust prevention spray.
Several pictures available. $450 picked up in McAlester.

This Bianchi Trofeo frame with matching fork has been ridden less than 200
miles. It is in excellent condition and will be a beautiful looking and riding
bike when built up.
This Bianchi Trofeo frame measures 55.5cm from the center of the bottom bracket
to the center of the top tube, or 56.5cm from the center of the bottom bracket
to the top of the top tube, with a 55.5cm top tube and a 133mm headtube.
The frame and fork are painted Ferrari Racing Red with bright white decals
outlined in black. The frame is fully lugged using Bianchi Exclusive Dedacciai
Zerotre steel tubing. The downtube is ovalized at the bottom bracket shell for
both stiffness when climbing and sprinting, and for strength. The fork is a
unicrown threaded model with 1" steerer. This frame and fork were made in Italy
by master craftsmen, and are a wonderful testament to Bianchi's bike building
expertise.
The rear chainstays measure a longish 42cm
for comfort and stability, with vertical dropouts that are 130mm wide. This
frame uses a clamp-on front derailleur, has two sets of water bottle bosses, and
the rear brake cable is routed through split stops on the top of the top tube.
There are a very few touched-up paint chips, and of course a mark where the
clamp-on derailleur was installed, but there are no rust or dents as this frame
and fork are in wonderful condition. All of the tubes and fork have been treated
on the inside with Boeshield T9 rust prevention spray.
A nice Campagnolo square taper bottom bracket is installed on the frame and
comes with the purchase. There is also a headset installed, but it is a no-name
model and is too rough to use unless you want to try and overhaul it.
$150 picked up in McAlester for the frame, fork, bottom bracket, and headset.
For $50 more you can buy a hand-built Vuelta XRP wheelset that have less than
100 miles on them. The rims are silver with red and white decals, flat-bladed
spokes with 24 count in front and rear, and include rim strips and skewers.
Pictures available soon.

Lugged steel frames are becoming harder to find, especially frames this nice.
This classic and hard-to-find Ciocc Designer '84 Microf C. 40 lugged steel frame
and fork are in very good condition, and would make a wonderful addition to any
bike stable. Ciocc framesets have a reputation for being great riders and
wonderful craftsmanship, and this frame represents the Ciocc name with honor.
This frame measures 54cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of
the top tube, with a 54.5cm top tube and a 132mm headtube. The paint scheme is
blood red with bright white decals outlined in black. The rear seat and chain
stays and fork are chromed, and the top of the seat stay is scalloped. The frame
was built in Italy of legendary high-end Columbus SLX steel tubing, which over
the years has been my favorite tubeset of any I have ridden.
This Ciocc has two sets of water bottle bosses, braze-on front derailleur tab
and downtube shifter bosses and pump peg, rear brake cable housing routed on the
top of the top tube, and Campagnolo horizontal rear dropouts (with adjusting
screws) that measure 126mm wide. The Ciocc fork is chromed and has Campy
droputs, with a 1" threaded steerer that measures 172mm. The Ciocc design is cut
out of the bottom bracket shell and is engraved on the brake bridge and fork
crown. The Ciocc name is pantographed in the scalloped top of the seat stay and
on the sloping fork crown.
This bike is in very good condition, but it is a used bike that has been ridden.
There are very few small paint chips that have been well touched up. The chrome
is in good condition, with some very light peppering and loss of bright shine
just from age and from having been ridden. The seat tube is very clean and clear
and all of the tubes have been treated with Boeshield T9 rust prevention spray.
I haven't taken any pics of the Ciocc but hope to do so soon. $425 picked up in
McAlester.

Frank

I am getting ready to send out flyers for the 2007 Osage Hills Mountain Bike
race Oct. 21st to the bike shops. If anyone would like a flyer via email reply
to this email and I'll send you one. Please help me pass the flyer on to anyone
who maybe interested. I believe this is one of the most challenging courses in
Oklahoma.
There has been one change to the flyer. The begginers will do one loop of the
red and one loop of the blue. Not two loops of the red like last year course.
The red loop is much harder then it was last year.
If you are coming to Bartlesville to practice and/or pre-ride please ride both
the red and blue loops.
For the race course everyone will ride the Red loop clockwise and blue loop
counterclockwise. around 6 miles long.
If you want a map of the course or race flyer, you can come by the shop or
I'll send you one via email.

I may have a change of heart after sleeping on this tonight, but I am listing
for sale my Tommasini Sintesi that has less than 200 miles on it and is as near
new as any actually ridden frame I have ever owned.
This Tommasini Sintesi is painted a gorgeous candy red with bright white decals
and yellow/white decor. The fancy sculpted headtube lugs, fork, seat stays, and
chain stays are all chromed. Tommasini logos are pantographed in the headtube
lugs, brake bridge, top of the seat stays, top of the bottom bracket shell, and
fork crown. The fork is a Tommasini AIR 1" threaded chromed model. My daughter
says this frame is "blinged out", which sounded like a compliment coming from a
12 year old who seldom notices any of my bike stuff.
The frame is fully lugged and built with Columbus Neuron steel tubing. Neuron
tubing was designed specifically for bicycles, and has a great strength to
weight ratio. For more information on Columbus Neuron bike tubing, see:
http://www.kvanproductions.com/cycling/Neuron.htm
The frame measures 56cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the
top tube with a 55.5cm top tube. The short semi-horizontal (no adjusting screws
included) rear drop outs measure 130mm wide, and the head tube is 133mm. The
frame has the rear brake cable routed internally through the top tube, pump peg,
two sets of water bottle bosses, braze-on derailleur tab, down tube shifter
bosses, and an Italian threaded bottom bracket spins in by hand.
This frame and fork are so much more beautiful than pictures can capture. The
condition of this Tommasini is excellent to like-new. The paint is vibrant, and
the chrome on the stays and fork and lugs is shiny and bright. The frame and
fork have been built up and lightly ridden, so there are build marks, but this
is an amazingly nice frameset. The frame and fork have been completely treated
inside the tubes with Boeshield T-9 rust prevention spray.
Includes a Campagnolo Record headset already installed and a Vuelta wheelset
that has less than 100 miles on it.
Lots of pictures available for the asking. $850 for the frame, fork, headset,
and wheelset picked up in McAlester.
Thanks and stay hydrated out there!

Subject: [Wheelmen] FS: 57cm never ridden Torelli frame and fork
This is a partially built up, but never ridden, frameset that I bought to
build up for myself. It was sold to me as a 56cm, the largest frame I can ride.
Unfortunately, it is a 57cm so I am selling it and building up a smaller frame.
This frame, according to an e-mail from the owner of Torelli Imports Bill
McGann, is a 1999 Torelli Countach hand-made in Italy by Antonio Mondonico. If
you are not familiar with this legendary builder, who recently retired, look
here:
http://www.torelli.com/mondonico/mndnico.html
The frame measures 57cm from the center of the bottom bracket to the center of
the top tube with a 57cm top tube. This lugged frame is made from light but
strong cycling-specific Columbus Nivacrom Zona ASB (Asymmetric Double Butted)
steel tubing made to Torelli's exacting specifications. The frame is painted
metallic inkwell blue with yellow decals. The 1" threaded fork is painted to
match the frame and has a sloping fork crown.
This frame has two sets of water bottle bosses, braze-on front derailleur tab,
rear brake cable routed at 7 o'clock on the top tube, pump peg, chain hanger,
and the cable adjusters are brazed on the head tube. The bottom bracket is
Italian threaded, and a Campagnolo bottom bracket spun in by hand. The rear
dropouts are horizontal adjustable (adjusting screws included) and measure 130mm
wide. The 1" head tube measures 150mm and the 1" threaded fork steerer measures
192mm.
This frame and fork were partially built up but never ridden. This Torelli is
in excellent condition, with only a few shop wear scratches on it. The frame and
fork have been completely treated inside the tubes with Boeshield T-9 rust
prevention spray.
$395 for the frame and fork picked up in McAlester. Pictures available in the
next day or two.
